If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. flutter @ 25-30mph

Well, I can't believe the Michelins are THAT bad, but they must be because I noticed a SIGNIFICANT instant change on the highway. My car is enjoyable again. I will see what tomorrow bring on the 28MPH and check the highway after sitting over night. I think those MXM4's are just junk.
I think some tires get flat spots and never really recover. My 78 Chevy Scottsdale had heavy bias ply tires and that is what it reminds me of. I dont know much about low profile tires .

Well, I am like you and my car sat for months many times. Maybe that is what happened, just deformed a belt or something. It will be getting driven daily from now on for the most part. But these new tires are very compliant and QUIET!

I hope the new tires fixes your issues. I had got some flat stoppers last month. Jacked up the car and put them under the wheels. Then the car say for another 6 weeks before Iwent on my 1000 mile road trip Saturday. No noticable flat spots when I usually feel them ,first 10 miles or so.I agree with you, start using car everyday and the flat spots will be a thing of the past! 👍

Went with the Vredensteins. Really smooth and quiet compared to the MXM4. And my car only has 24k miles.

$700 installed and out the door.

I will put the Michelins up for sale and get some of that back.
Keep me posted, I am curious how the tires do after sitting over night.

FYI I changed my tires as well recently and this did nothing for the fluttering sound. I too thought that the fluttering sound was related to a flat tire spot but based on the significant amount of conversation concerning this issue I am 99% sure it's the driveshaft. My dealership service department also identified an issue with my drive shaft but it was not authorized for warranty replacement/repair by HPP.

I swapped my Continental ProContact RX's with DWS06's. Better tire for sure. A little louder but much better traction. Still fluttering sound though.

Do you have vibration at high speed that comes and goes? I dont have the fluttering sound, just vibration at 70mph +

Nothing really. I’ve had my car up to 120 and it’s shockingly quiet and stable. Had my alignment done too when tires were swapped

They are probably done replacing shafts until they engineer a new one. I had at least 3 new ones and they are 1200 or so each not counting labor.
So until they get a better part, they are probably done trying to fix this. Let's hope they get a replacement with a better setup!
My high speed vibration could be drive shaft also. Will see what tomorrow brings.

Just bought my CPO in December and I have same flutter issue and have had at Genesis dealer twice. First time they wouldn’t do anything because they said my rims were bent. Charged me $50 for balance. Spoke with manager at Hyundai dealer I bought my genesis from as a CPO and he did an alignment/balance and had a rim guy come in to “repair” them. Vehicle drove better but still had flutter sound and vibration between 40-60mph. Took to Genesis dealer again and after arguing with the service writer about the flutter sound and showing him this thread and previous work orders posted here he still insisted it wasn’t driveshaft/propeller assembly. Tried to push me to pay $1600 for new rims after I just put brand new DWS06 tires on a month ago and even if the new rims didn’t fix flutter, which we all know wouldn’t, he wouldn’t replace the assembly until new rims installed nor would refund me the rims even if it didn’t fix issue. Did a drive with the long time mechanic and even he agreed with me on driveshaft but said I wouldn’t worry as it’s covered under 100k powertrain warranty and said should be a TSB at some point. Told me he also isn’t a fan of the service writer and to call HOA. Called last week and after call was escalated they returned my call to hear my whole story and just got back to me an hour ago to say that they will fully reimburse me for new rims installed and also have Genesis dealership replace my driveshaft/propeller assembly. Will call dealership tomorrow to setup appt. Even emailed me for documentation. Happy with outcome of escalation so far! Will update once complete.

I had them take off brand new wheels from an in stock car and put them on my car and it did not change anything. I got new tires to get rid of the highway speed vibrations and doubt it fixes the 28 MPH issue. It should not be that hard to get it right but it appears it is. Also hard to believe they can test a car like this and NO ONE noticed in teh development. It could be some weird resonance issue.

I did not have 28 MPH issues today but that has happened before so will give it a few days. I still had slight highway vibration but I can tell its mechanical. Overall the new tires have really helped. While it's not 100% it's WAY BETTER than it was. So tires IMO are worth the swap.

I know it's hard to believe Engineers overlook this stuff, but it does happen. It's hard to figure out what fraction of total Genesis cars this happens on. It might be that we are the unlucky 1% of owners this happens to.

It even happens to high volume cars. My 2011 Odyssey has an irritating whine when stopped in Drive and the A/C is on. There is an interaction between the PS pump and the compressor. Honda's solution - replace the PS pump.

I would say it happens to them all, it just depends on your level of sensitivity to the issue. I drove brand new cars and they still do it, just more subtle. They all have, most probably don't notice or don't know any different.

All I know is that when I bought my car I took a few long distance trips with speeds over 100 mph and this car was smooth and quite as could be. Then after a few months in service the flutter started and the dealer fixed that. But then again after a few months I started to get the random vibration over 35mph which I just thought was the aging tires. And like others stated it comes and goes. For me it starts as a slight vibration around 35-40 then again around 67 gets worse at 78 it’s bad at 88 and over 100 not only does it get worse I also get a wind and humming noise from all over. To me I hear a noise like someone driving next to you in a Jeep with big off road tires. I have had the car aligned, new tires, 2 new wheels and multiple wheel balances with no success. It did seem to get worse after I was rear-ended last month and had some frame damage. I was about to take it in for the shop to go on a test drive with me when I was hit again for the 3rd time in 4 months last week. This last idiot blew a stop sign by my kids school since he was late dropping of his kid and hit my front corner and wheel. So I don't know if I will ever get mine fixed properly since I have now been hit in the rear hard, the pass side was sideswiped damaging the rear wheel and now the pass side front wheel. At least the shop said they will take it to the dealer once they are done if it's still vibrating but once the dealer hears about all this other damage I know they will say it's not a build issue. I don't want to get rid of this car but it seems like that may be the only way to get the insurance company to pay out for the diminished value. If I could get rid of the vibration I would just eat the loss of value since I was planning on driving this car until it dies but with the constant vibration it makes me not want to drive it.

I know how you feel. It drives me nuts and takes away from the ownership experience greatly. Tires have helped some but not completely resolved by any means. I had the road force balanced also. They had no run out issues so I know its not the wheels either.

Had my 2016 AWD Genesis ULT diagnosed with the noisy rear drive shaft. Took it in to have it replaced and the dealer said that they could not get the part, as a newly designed part is being manufactured. No point in installing the defective existing design just to have it replaced again in 1000 miles, they said. This was yesterday, February 19, 2020. Maybe a month or two to get the redesigned rear drive shaft.

It would happen the same way every time. Cold day, first 10 or so miles fluttering clicking between 25-35 mph. Let's see what happens next. Seems it is not isolated to the 2016's, which I guess makes sense.

This is interesting thanks, but I would only get it replaced if it cost me almost nothing. I would respect Hyundai a lot if they made this a recall item or whatever it is when they fix it for free.

When i did an escalation for this and my rims being bent the escalation rep didn’t say anything but told me to tell the Genesis dealer to replace the driveshaft and my rims. Waiting on parts for appt.
