2015 Genesis Tech Package - Front turn signal bulb blown - LED Replacement?

Hello, wanting to order the above posted LED bulbs since they don't hyperflash. I bought Sylvania's and they hyperflash on the driver's side. Passenger side doesn't work at all.
I see others are reversing polarity, but they say they do it on the driver's side? For me it doesn't work on the passenger side, is that the side I need to switch polarity?

You've determined through "testing" that you need to reverse the passenger's side. When you start out it could be either or or both. Swap the pin-outs on the passenger side, get you some decent leds and go for it. You will be pleasantly surprised.

Thanks. I just thought it was weird that it could be either way and that these cars aren't standardized...

I just did this. I wanted to give anyone instructions with a V8 on how to go about changing out their amber DRLs to LEDs.

I did have to re-pin the driver side socket. It was a pain but doable.

I purchased these from Amazon per another users post.

Step 1: Remove radiator clips and cover. Set aside.
Step 2: Remove brace that runs over top of each air-box cleaner. I think it is a 12mm.
Step 3: Remove clips that hold top of air-box on
Step 4: Loosen the hose clamp that hold the intake pipe to the air-box. It should be a 10mm.
Step 5: Remove top of air box
Step 6: Remove the two screws that hold the bottom air-box in place. Remove bottom air-box.

This should give you pretty good access to the back of the headlight assembly.
Step 7: Remove dust cover on back of headlight assembly housing.
Step 8: Remove bulb and place aside.
Step 9: Place new bulb in socket

Reverse assemble.

IF you need to re-pin I will explain how I did it.

Below are photos of the connector that need to be re-pinned

This connector is held on to the head light assembly.
Remove the bottom of the connector tab with a screw driver. You will need to put some force on it. I used one finger behind the connector to keep it from bending and using your other hand with a screw driver push the tab to release the clip.

Once you have the bottom of the plug removed. Bend the connector down towards the ground. The metal tab holding it is pretty forgiving.

Slide a flat head screw driver between the connector and the metal tab. The connector should release downward towards the bottom of the car.

You should now have a socket and connector.

Mark one of the wires and on side of the connector before you disassemble.

Looking at the connector where the wires go into it there is a little cover back where the wires come out of it. Using a small screw driver pry that access cover off. You should now see down into the connector where the wires meet the prongs.

Look down inside the connector / prong and you will see a small white tab. That tab is holding the prong inside the connector. Find something small to push on that white tab and pull the prong from the connector.

Reverse the wire locations and reassemble.

Test your new socket on the vehicle before putting it all back together.

I put the connector back onto the metal tab and bent it back into place before hooking the connector back to the plug.

I can't speak to longevity of these LEDs as I just put them in but they seem solid.

On the plus side this does not affect you from going back to incandescent bulbs. LEDs are particular about polarity while incandesant dont seem to care.

The car does not hyperflash and so far I am pleased.
These directions were a life-save... THANKS!

got the ck today and didn't see any difference in brightness vs ek. did weigh them out of curiosity and they're pretty much same but more than twice the weight of cheap pilot. all in all its a toss up between ck and ek as far as brightness. seems like ek has more heat sink area but leds may run hotter given they are pulling more watts per led (13 on ek vs 21 on ck). ek does blend in better in the housing imo.

ck, ek, pilot / 16g, 17g, 7g

Ordered a set of the Sirius led amber led turn signal/drl bulb. Both bulbs work fine on drivers side but nether will work on the passenger side. The old regular bulb will work with no issue

Ok so I am a huge noob when it comes to the terminology, I read those instructions I know they help most people. I think I am more of a visual learner. Could I just cut the two red wires and reattach them in opposite order? Sorry for the dumb question

You can do it that way if you dont mind molesting your wiring . Remove the wires at the plug and repin them . Cleaner look and it is not hard to do. I would try to avoid cutting the wires.

That's right, undo the "pins" at the plug that is about 4-5 inches back from the bulb socket - I filed a nail down to pop the catch on the pins then just swap and plug back in.

Ok thanks guys helped a lot....love this group

Yeah man for sure, lots of good /knowledgeable folks around this forum. Good luck with your job. Just do the re-pin procedure it's way cleaner of a job and you wont run into problems down the road due to cut wires.👍

After doing five or six bulbs in the turn signals in the last 20 months I took the car to dealership last week. They told me there is indeed a TSB about this for the driver side. They replace harness, socket and bulb free of charge. Can't comment on it yet because they still have the car. I found out that I need a new head unit and they need to take my sunroof apart... head unit because there's a TSB to fix the subscription updated notice, and sunroof because there's a TSB to fix creaking noise...

I did use the siriusled bulbs and it works perfectly on the passenger side. I'm hoping when I get it home and replace the driver side with the new socket that will work there too.

Might, might not. You'll prob have to swap the pins in the plug anyway.

Sorry to report that they changed the harnesses on both sides of my 2015 3.8, regular bulbs still burned out. I just turned the DRL's off and remember to turn on auto if I go out at night. I have not heard about the TSB for the Sun Roof, I just keep mine closed. They replaced the head unit on my 2015 several years ago for the subscription problem.

The sunroof TSB is 19 - BD - 0 0 1 h which came out February 2019

It's a 23-page TSB that include silicone on rubber seals and adding some felt pads somewhere up there.

Hopefully it works out for me. If not, I'll get it sorted! I didn't have to touch anything on the right side so I'm hoping left side isn't going to be that different but if I got to change the pins around no biggie...

I actually forgot but I was going through my toolbox and apparently I bought a 6 pack of bulbs for this ongoing issue. I'm at the point now where I can change the passenger side with one hand and not removing anything. 🤣

so whats keeping you from upgrading those to leds as mentioned in this thread? if my tire keeps blowing out when going above 60mph i'm not going to just drive under 60mph.
