If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

My battery repeatly goes dead if car not used 3 days.

Get a battery trickler. Costs about $65. Most all bikers use them. Also make sure no inside lights are on when you park the car. Also keep the keyless switch far away from the car so they are not communicating to each other.

The trickle charger is great:) I've used them in every car i've stored just to keep the charge in the battery.

I do not use it in the Genesis because the battery is in the trunk and i can't have the truck "popped" like the hood of any car, so I said screw it.

Got one use it now that I have to. Since the manual says to charge via posts under hood It kills my plans to permanently mount it in the trunk and snake the power wire out of the trunk when closed.

I have also noticed if I run the radio when the car is not running the warning about not using the multimedia system without the engine running comes on in just about 5 to 10 minutes. Previous cars would go for at least 2 hours with only the radio draining before the warning coming on. Also their does not seem to be a batter discharge preventer on the car my Mercedes and Altima and Phaeton would all cut the power before the battery would get to the point of not being able to start the car. Do I have multiple problems or none at all?

Well my car also gives me the, the battery will go dead warning even after just minutes if I don't start the car. It doesn't mean the battery is going dead, it's just recommending that you start your car to prevent a dead battery eventually.

Months ago I let the audio system run for a couple hours with the engine off and the sunroof open... The nag screen popped up after 10 minutes or so, and every so often after that. I'd hit the DIS button for the first few times to say "yeah, go away." Did nothing of course. I used the options menu to blank the LCD, hoping that'd get rid of the nag screen. Nope. Anyway, I let it run for a couple of hours while I did other work in the garage. After two hours or so the Lexicon system (2009 Tech package version) shut itself off. So it does have some sort of "save the battery" logic.

The car started just fine the next day - no battery charger or trickle charge needed.

GripperDon, I have to think your car has one of three bugs:
* A diode inside the alternator is shorted, allowing the alternator to discharge the battery after a couple of days. This is a common failure of alternators - yet they'll still charge a battery normally with the engine running. Those alternator test rigs at NAPA and other parts stores can catch this bug; the dealer should be able to as well.

* Some light is being left on... trunk light perhaps? Leave the rear seat "pass through" open sometime so you can eyeball into the trunk from outside the car after the delayed-OFF courtesy lights fade away.

* A key fob is too close as others have noted.

p.s. or your neighborhood has little brats running around triggering the lights inside the car when you're not looking!

Does he have the front radar sensors telling you when you get too close and does he have the oark and hold feature?

Thanks.

Park and hold.

Hi guys, anyone know where can I get a set of mudflaps for a 2010 4.6 that don't require drilling to install ?
Thanks, ,this is a great Forum for new owners.

Stated earlier my fellow owner where the coolant reservoir required 2 fillings and intermittent but annoying steering memory that rarely returns back to memory setting

Anyone have a problem with their hood opening by itself? This has happened to me 3 times. I'll be going down the road wondering why I'm hearing a noise, and then I'll notice that the hood is open, although still latched.

Someone mentioned that this happened to them and they finally figured out they were catching it with their foot.

:mad:OK, the soga continues. The car has been in the shop since Monday the 1st of February. The tech folks have no clue at this point. After my phone call to "Headquarters", engineers have been involved and passing troubleshooting tips down to the tech folks. After several attempts, the problem still exist and techies have their hands in the air, waiting on more suggestions from the top. If this continues, I'm going to invoke the Florida lemon law. Sucks I have to take this to this level, my wife really loves the car. Also sucks to make payments on a car this is not driveable.

:mad:Update:
Last week the service department and company engineers came to a consensus that the TRANSMISSION needed to be replaced. $10,285 later and 2 weeks of shop troubleshooting I finally got the car back. We took it on our first road trip, Florida to New Orleans for Mardi Gras, roughly 500 miles. The car ran great and the ESC light did not illuminate the entire trip. I think the trainy may have solved the problem.
New problem arose the day we returned. I parked the car on the driveway, unloaded the luggage, and went back out to move to the garage. On start up, the AFLS light flashed continuously until I turn the car off. Restart, problem went away. I think my car has some major computer issues. I requested a "Collateral Swop", a term the car companies are very familiar with and I'm awaiting a decision from corporate folks. I personally think my car, not all Genesis, is a LEMON! I'm still a fan and I hope Hyundai makes it right. I will post my results as soon.

While I haven't had any hood issues, Larry, I have noticed that my trunk lock seems to release when I am not aware that I have pushed the release on the remote. Anyone else???

I was going to make a thread for this, but its pretty minor so i'll just post it here.

I live in Texas and it rarely gets TOO cold, but sometimes it will drop between 30 and 40 in the winter. Everytime it has dropped under 40 my tire pressure light has gone off for a tire. First one of the fronts, which stopped when I put air in it. Now one of the backs. The thing is though, this time I waited until it got warm again and the light went away. The next day it was colder (Texas weather is all over the place) and the light came back! Is this just the air in the tires going crazy cause of the temperature, or maybe the sensors giving off false positives? Or both?

Anyone else get this problem?

Ok..I started to notice something NOT HAPPENING with the car when I thought it used to do it..I know I'm getting older but I hope my memory is still sharp. Let me know if this isn't right...
When I first got the car when all doors are locked and you go open a door with the button on the handle it obviously unlocks...however, when u close that door does it not lock again automatically w/o using the key remote to lock it?

Mine has stopped doing this. Please tell me that yours does lock automatically. By the way to clarify, I'm talking locking automatically when your out of the vehicle.
when you close your door. Thanks

PLO5, I hate to be the bearer of bad tidings regarding your memory but I don't think any Gennies re-lock automatically when you close the door. You have to push the little black button on the handle or use your remote to re-lock it.

Can some members check their rear tail lights and tell me if I am seeing things or not? My left rear tail light where it makes the bend from the rear to the front projects an image that there is a crack in the plastic. If you look at it up close you can see that it is a seam where the silver part on the side top left meets the open space. You can see that the seam extends down through the red. Look at the right side and it does not look as bad. It is on the inside of the lens and I can not feel the "crack" from the outside.

Thanks for the help. I confused myself writing the description above.
