GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

I’ve put deposits down on both the Audi Q4 e-Tron and the GV60. If Audi can price its AWD EV for Canada at less than $60k, You’d think Genesis, who is after the German market, would be priced similarly.
I looked at the q4 etron as well. GTA dealer told me deliveries for orders placed this month would be expecting late 2023/early 2024 delivery. I then remembered it's re-packaged ID.4 ... so I haven't pulled the trigger on it, yet.

I had forgotten that fine point… that were essentially waiting for 2024 Q4 e-Trons. Still, because I didn’t put my name on a 2023 GV60 until last week, it may be optimistic to believe mine would be delivered any sooner…

That said, it doesn’t make much sense to be driving an EV in Newfoundland until Muskrat Falls hydro come on line (… except for the price of hydrocarbons, that is…)

I preordered my Advanced white on black on feb 9, 24 hours after Genesis opened pre-orders online. My dealer told me my rank is #353. My dealer mentioned delivery maybe in september-November timeline otherwise 2023. Ranking is by Genesis Canada and is for all models. If indeed 600 cars are allowed to Canadian dealers, then I'm hopeful for fall !!!
Happy to see cars in Mississauga that should be delivered to dealer for testing soon.
My dealer told me it is estimated that 5% will cancel once the price is out and another 5% cancels after test-driving it. So, I may move to 317th OR maybe I will be one of the 5
+5% declining my order once price and testing done at which point, I will continue with my fully loaded ID4 order at a much lower price given both subsidies and perhaps a 5K$ discount from Chattanooga US production series as promised by VW ag president Herbert Diess.
I put my name in for an ID.4 in October and have been told it will be lucky to arrive before the end of the year. So I pulled my name out a few weeks ago. Still waiting for Ioniq 5 news, ordered in October and delivery has been postponed a few times (originally expected it in June, now in November)

Wondering if all the GV60 parked in Markham are staying for a Canadian press event or press test drives? There must be a reason for them staying there. Would there not be a separate US-Canadian release with the press? We’re they any Canadian journalists in Houston?

I understood the Copper one was the press release one , the other two are dealer demo vehicles.
I saw that the front Genesis badges appear to have been “removed” from the demo vehicles … which is a concern if they just pop out !

Does anyone have any recent news on delivery estimates? Have just started looking at this vehicle. Local Toronto (Yorkdale) dealer is stating that putting a deposit down 'today' will get me a vehicle in the 1st quarter of 2023. Curious what other's are hearing? It's pretty chaotic these days trying to figure out a vehicle for purchase. Was originally looking at the Model 3 and a BMW i4, then this Genesis caught my eye. Probably passing on the i4 as the current delivery times might be end of next year or 2024 at this point. So I am thinking either this or the Tesla. To be honest, I kind of prefer the size/interior of the GV60. Only thing I am not crazy about is the range. Looking at the Korean video's, it appears they are averaging around 340km's on the performance model. So in our winter with snow tires installed I am guessing sub 300 km range (maybe 260). My wife has a '21 Model YLR and we lost about 20-25% range in winter as comparison.

The Korean numbers would be close to ours. Their cars were released around winter although their winter is not as cold as ours.

i guess the battery heater in the Model Y doesn't really help for cold weather? So, if you park the car inside of a heated garage will it help for cold morning start?

Ours is garage kept and she does have pre-departure set on the car. I think the issue is just the car wasting more energy running the heaters out in the cold while driving and also the sticky winter tires creating more drag. I don't think any amount of pre-heating is going to change the fact that it's like -10 outside. Whatever the reason, we definitely lose around 20-25% range. Worst months seem to be January - March. Even just switching back to the all-seasons last month makes a drastic difference.

Any data from Toronto Ionic 5 / EV6 owners?

I believe one poster ordered both an Advanced and Performance April 23rd-ish off the top of my head and the order rank was around 700ish / 200ish respectively. So about 900-1000ish total units on the wait list at THAT time. I *think* Canada gets ~600 this year (speculative, and not proven) assuming no additional supply chain delays, but I'd set your expectations low for Q2 or Q3 2023, depending on what the order book looks like today.

I suspect orders will increase after the press embargo is lifted and more people know about it.

Your are pretty much spot on. In my Kona EV I lost as much as 40% range in -25 to -30C. As you indicated when its really cold the resistance cabin heater can pull 5+ kWh just keep your windows unfrosted plus your frictional losses with snow tires. I am not sure the actual range will be as bad as rated. I am currently getting around 450 km on my Ionic 5(AWD 20 inch wheels) with actual range on urban cycle in 18C weather and around 380 km highway(100km/hr). Which should be similar to the GV60 . I expect it should be around 315 km range average urban winter range (assuming 30% reduction) and around 270ish km highway.

Winter issues associated with range, I might’ve expected, but I hadn’t considered any issues with charging. This topic, especially for Canadians, probably deserves its own thread… (let me know if topic separated from this thread)

… in any case, I happen to be in a situation without a garage and I’m going to have to install a level 2 charger for outside. So, I’m now concerned with making sure I get things right from the beginning. I’m considering the Grizzl-E Smart version of its level2 charger, made in Canada, so I’m assuming it’ll be “winterized”, but is the GV60 the right EV for Canada with respect to charging in the cold?

Cheers from the Avalon

There was a study a couple months ago that I read (can’t recall the reference). They compared battery loss in cold, weather among a number of brands and the Hyundai group scored near the top with 84% battery life maintained in the cold.

These "winter" range tests are usually done with ambient temps around -10 to-15C. They are not representative of the 40 to 45% range drop that you will get at -30C in a Canadian winter. Its around 30% loss at -20C. This is a snap shot of my GOM reading of my relatively new Kona EV indicating 190 km range at approximately 80% SOC in actual -30C ambient(not wind chill) temperature. The 100% SOC real range wound be around 240 km with a heat pump and 64kWh usable battery that has a 450+km real range in the summer. Trust me in the depths of a Canadian winter your range loss is not going to be just 20%, plan accordingly.

some time ago, I compared average monthly temperatures for Seoul and Toronto. The numbers were surprisingly similar.

I think the cold temperature losses are driven by the need to heat the interior and battery, and battery inefficiencies from the cold. While winter tires may be “stickier” than all-seasons at any specific temperature, I doubt they are meaningfully so at -20C than all-seasons are at +20C. The more aggressive tread on winters may also contribute to range loss.

Any word on delivery time frames in Canada? or any word on a timeframe for any sort of future information on delivery timeframes?
