  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

GV60 Canadian Deposit - Local Dealer Information & Timelines

Seems like a good percentage of the people on this forum majored in communication with a minor in automobile pricing.

I wonder if people's reactions would have been different if they had released the price from the start. I feel as though people have built up their expectations through rumor to the point where they expected a certain outcome. I mean to me, it sounds like a lot of people are upset about missing out on the federal rebate. But most of us had already placed the preorder before they even considered increasing the federal rebate.

I am sure that is a factor. Here is another one - when I placed the preorder back in february, there was a glitch in the system and the pricing was shown at 66k for Performance. I am sure I am not the only one who caught the glitch. I knew it was too good to be true so I was expecting an increase, but imagine the dissapointment when I saw a whopping 13k markup on that.

66k for the performance? I don't think I had ever heard rumors of the performance going that cheap. I was under the impression that most people thought that 66k was the ballpark estimate for the advanced.

Well I can understand your frustrations then. I guess it's just different for me since I was already in this neighborhood with the price a Mach E.
Back in February, my dealer told me that he expected "about" 70K for advanced and "about" 80K for the Performance.

Some of us including me, we're told that the production will commence based on the initial deposit and no further commitment. Not sure if there's truth to that but some here were assured that their vehicle will be going into production soon.
I as told that they are building a run of cars in whatever configurations they choose (presumably based on what's been ordered) and that's it. If they you order a configuration that is available when your number is up, you get it....otherwise, you wait.

That’s unnecessarily spiteful.
Considering how they treated us as customers then finally introduced pretty insane pricing I’m not sure it would qualify as unnecessarily spiteful, possibly just the right amount of spite

you should bring this to your dealer and although probably fail attempt to get them to have genesis honor the pricing for you.

Sounds like they dodged a bullet by losing you as a “customer”. The pre order process could have been better for sure but your reaction at this point is nothing short of childish.

Meanwhile, in the US it’s priced only $3700 above a fully loaded Ioniq and qualifies for the $7500 federal rebate.

Quoted the interesting part of this article relevant to this thread:

"Some 1,500 Canadian pre-orders have already been placed. Genesis expects that of those 1,500, some 60 per cent will actually follow through on their purchase, so in short, if you order a GV60 today, you’d likely see it on your driveway between six months and one year from now."

Only 500 allocated for Canada this year is what my GXM told me. So that is false.
They’re pumping these out for all different markets at the same time and Canada is a small market!

Spec for spec, the US is pricier once you do the currency conversion.

If only 500 are allocated 2022, and 1500 preorders x 60% = 900 units (edit: actual take rate at this point), it's not inconceivable a new order could be delivered in a year's time. Remember the 500 units weren't being produced starting Jan 1. I'd presume (SWAG) that 2023 delivery would be higher than 500 units. Does anyone know when they started production?

I am very skeptical we are going to see even 500 units this year. The forecast is grim. Currently there is a stop sale/recall on Ioniq 5/EV6. This will affect GV60 to some extent. At this point Ioniq 5s ordered in July/August of 2021 are only starting to trickle into Canada. Anything ordered in October 2021 has been pushed to possible deliveries in 2023. Apparently all of 2023 production is accounted for. Hyundai has not even bothered to provide its monthly email update this month, probably because the news is not good. Kia has just altogether stopped taking any further orders for EV6.
