  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Free Map Update Is Here!!!!!!!

I don't know how to check to see if my dealer really did the nave update. Nothing changed and nothing was reset. Can someone please tell me how to check this. Dealer said the only thing that was different was added streets to map. I have heard others talk about new settings for iPod. Please help!

Has anyone had this update preformed on a early 2010 TECH model?
I purchased my 2010 on November-28-2009 and it has 2008 NAV software.

I can tell you that ALL my settings went away and I had to reload everything. I knew that going in so it was no surprise. If none of your settings changed... I'm suspecting that your upgrade didn't take. They HAVE been known to fail. Checking the map version is very easy- (1) press the Navi MENU button, (2)Select SETTINGS from the left side of the screen, (3)Select NAVI Information and press enter (down on the knob). Map Version should have a date of 2010.04.30.10. Taaaaa Daaaaaaaah.

Under the info in the navi menu the date will be 4/30/2010

Bless me Father for I have not posted. It's been a loooooong time :)

I did the navi update yesterday. Mine was covered. I took pics of all my favorites and settings before turning it over to the dealer. It made reload much more simple.

DISAPPOINTMENT- My home was built on a street added to our subdivision in 2005. You got it.... the 2010 update STILL doesn't have my street or home. Shhhheeeeesh.

LIGHTING GURUs- In the next few days, I'll be posting a trick I did to the fog lights turning them into really nifty running lights.

I STILL love my genny and STILL get lots of looks and STILL....

I don't know whether it will do any good or not, but on the 'mapnsoft' web site there is a place to enter where you have found errors in the map data base. It's worth a try.

I hope he plans next time to attach the charger to the battery not the jump point under the hood... I know from experience the battery will NOT take a charge from the jump point under the hood...

I charged my battery twice from the jump point under the hood. It works fine.

Thank you for the tips. I found out the update did take. I now have the shuffle for ipod, what a nice feature!

Thanks for the tip! I sent them 2 errors I'm aware of in my area.

I called my local Hyundai Service Manager for an appoiuntment to update my nav system. When he called me back, he verified that my Genesis was covered by the recall, but he had recently been contacted by Hyundai and they told him not to use the discs they had provided. There is apparently some errors in the discs and they can cause more problemns than they fix. He promised to contact me when he received good discs from Hyundai.

Has anyone else heard this? Is this dealer just trying to avoid doing the work?

Thanks,

Anyone knows if Canadian Hyundai has a similar offer?

As usual, Canadian Genny owners get stiffed again. No free updates:(

There is a Mapping Software Update available for purchase from Canadian Hyundai dealers for $209. This is a DIY Upgrade and no dealer service intervention is required. Apparently you just load the DVD's into the CD/DVD slot and they self-load one at a time. This is obviously a different format than the US Freebie update as there are only 3 DVD's in the Canadian update package. Part Number is "DISCFQ" although my local parts man had trouble finding in his listing until he called Hyundai Canada. I have mine on order and I'll let you know how I make out.

Well, after contacting Genesis Corp. in California and describing my issues when my dealer tried to install the update, they authorized the update.
My issue is still the 5 hours of running the engine while the update is installed.
Their Technical Bulletin states that the engine needs to be running. CANNOT BELIEVE
I will be contacting my dealer today to make an appointment.
Let all know the outcome.....

Only 3 DVD's because 90% of your roads are within 100 miles of the U.S....
:D

I think it might be the discs. I asked for the update when I had my car in for service. According to the service advisor, the tech apparently used the wrong disc set and ended up screwing up my nav system to the point where they have to replace the whole head unit.

That is what happened to mine. After trying to install they flashed the HHD. I was left with nothing but Please wait, Navigation waiting to start. But nothing starts.
If the disc does not work they will order a new head unit.
What a cluster F***.
They need to learn about servicing a higher end car....

I feel Hyundai Canada is once again sticking it to Canadians. Not only did we get the privilege of paying 35% more for the vehicle, paying almost 3 times more for PDI, did not get the TPMS we paid for, get short changed on the warranty, and get to pay a lot more for service, we also do not get the updates free.

Let us know what changes you see, and features added. Also I'd like to know if the upgrade requires anything more than just inserting the discs. If no serial #'s are needed, you may be able to offset the cost with other Canadians.

There was a U.S. Government tax break for cars bought after February 16, 2009 and before January 1, 2010. You were allowed to deduct the sales tax paid on the car even if you didn't itemize. Did anyone here take advantage of that feature on their tax return this year?

Could Hyundai be thinking that those who got this break don't deserve the free update? Doesn't sound reasonable but stranger things have happened.

I bought my 4.6 on February 14, so I couldn't get the tax break but I qualify for the update.

The procedure for installing is listed Here:

http://dl.dropbox.com/u/1192285/Genesis P06 Campaign.pdf

It looks as if anyone could do it but it is extremely involved. I would think that it could be made easier if a good software man were to rewrite it.

The Canadian update procedure is very similar to the one described in the link, but not quite as involved. You retrieve your HD Code from the unit the same way and go to mapsoft.com to get the Authentication code. After loading the 3 discs you then enter the code and you are finished - at least according to the instructiions that came with the DVD package. I'll be trying the update this weekend so I will report how it goes.

Well so much for the simpler installation.
I tried loading the update according to the instructions and nothing was as described. The instructions are a joke. By following the US update service procedure, I was able to get the first disc to load OK. Then you need an Authentication code that you are supposed to be able to get from the mapnsoft.com website. Yeah right:mad: There is nowhere on the customer website to enter your data to get the code. The Dealer part of the website wouldn't recognize the Canadian Dealer number (which I had managed to get) and the DVD serial number was different also. Their customer service (Hah!) is only available Monday to Friday.

Long story short, I had to abandon the update after the first disc, leaving me with no Nav whatsoever, phone book wiped out, radio presets gone and a pretty pissed Genesis owner. I had specifically asked if this was a consumer doable upgrade and was assured that it was. Hyundai Canada's customer service lines are going to be smokin come Tuesday!
