  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

2004 Volvo S60R with 38,500 miles 6 speed manual. Thank goodnessits gone.

Never thought for a second I'd ever be leasing a Hyundai... but after my test drive and the comments from the folks on this forum...am more excited about picking my up V6 Premium on 11/25 than just about any other car I've driven.

2006 Saab 9-5,
2003 Saab 9-5,
2000 Jaguar XJ8,
1997Infiniti Q45,
1994 Infiniti Q45,
1990 Lexus

Replaced a 2006 BMW 330 with all every option. It was a fun/fast car. I needed a little more space with 1 year old and another on the way.

I saw the pictures of the 4.6 with the inserts for the 17 inch rims and must respectfully disagree with the take that they look good. With the inserts, each beautifully scultped spoke abrutly ends at a cap which clearly looks like very cheap plastic. I think it would be obvious to even the casual observer that the wheel has been poorly modified from its original design and that something is out of place. I would love to find an insert that is shaped like the original center cap minus the H logo. It should have all of the original's grooves and convex/concave surfacing. As for the radio, I agree that XM sounds better and after a week or so it is growing on me. I just meant that Sirius has better programming. I prefer the music selections on each of the decades channels and while I know that you can now get some of Sirius' NFL programing on XM, you can't get every NFL game the way you can with Sirius. I will miss that feature when I am not able to spend a Sunday in front of the TV.

My 4.6 replaced a 5 series BMW.

My silver Genesis v6 with Tech package replaced a 2007 Acura RDX (my car), which is now being driven by my wife. Very pleased with the Genesis decision.

My Genesis replaced 2004 Sebring Limited:D

My G 4.6 replaced my 2007 Acura MDX...haven't missed the MDX at all! :D

A 2005 Ford Focus. The Focus was a GREAT commuter car, fairly power, got a consistent 30mpg (mixed) with me driving like a moron and was reliable. I needed a 4 door and an automatic for my wife (she can't drive standard).

My other cars are a 600hp (588whp 1989 Mustang) and a 1984 SVO Turbo Mustang. Neither are suitable for my wife to drive if she needs a vehicle (she drives a 2007 Hyundai Elantra for a 36 mile commute.... she gets a consistent 33mpg).
Anyways good luck
-bix

Coming out of my 2006 VW Passat, 3.6 4Motion into a 4.6 w/Tech. The Passat was a wonderful car, and my other choice was a fully-loaded CC. But for the comparable money, there's just so much more in the Genesis it became a no-brainer.
I'm sure I'll miss the 4Motion, but only until I learn how to drive in snow again...

Forgot to mention:

My user name is because I drove 2 Excels, 1 Accent, and 1 Elantra before moving to VW around '99 or 2000. The Genesis has made me move:
Back To Hyundai By Choice

I replaced a 1991 Buick Century

but my dad has a 2006 fully loaded Hyundai Azera Limited
and my mom has a 2008 fully loaded Hyundai Veracruz

my Buick has 40k miles on it and I keep it to drive to work but my car of choice is my Genesis

The vehicle I traded for the Genesis was a 2006 Sonata, it was the top of the line V6 that was offered at the time and also the first Hyundai product I had ever owned. I traded it in with 62,000 miles and was very happy with it's quality and lack of mechanical problems. I had been following the Genesis for quite some time and was very happy when I was finally able to get my hands on one. I also had a 2007 Chevy Avalanche that was turned in on it's lease back in August so the Genesis actually replaced both and I'm happy to say I got a vehicle that had the quality I had come to like very much in my Sonata (and then some) and also a vehicle that is roomier and gives a much better ride than my Avalanche. Hyundai has come a long way in the automotive market and the Genesis is proof of that for sure.

I am still on the works of selling mine. It is a Mazdaspeed3 with CPE Turbo-Back exhaust, MS CAI and COBB AP engine management. I am putting down 330WHP.
Now it's time to tune a luxury sedan. Can't wait.

A black 2000 Pontiac TransAM, stock (other than a chip upgrade) with 27k miles owned since new, enjoyed every mile (other than driving in the rain )... the 'beast' as it was affectionately known was a lovely weekend toy…

However, the 4.6 Tech is just a little easier on my neck (not by much mind you :D) and love everything about it ...

Have you sold many highly tuned cars?

I've always assumed that the mods reduce resale value, so you lose all money put into the car, and then some. But maybe this is incorrect? What has been your experience?

It'll be interesting to see how much attention the Genesis gets from the aftermarket.

I replaced my '00 Nissan Maxima SE with the Genesis 4.6. Nothing like adding another 153 hp...

I traded a 2004 LS430 for the Genesis and it had its share of problems. I never really did like the Lexus as much as the two Infiniti Q45's I owned before the Lexus. So far I like the Genesis more for lots of reasons. It is more like my 91 Q45 which was sort of a hot rod! All of the toys will keep it interesting! Besides the Hyundai dealer gave me $2,400 more for my Lexus than the Lexus dealer down the street offered me and that was against $2,400 off list price. Pretty good deal I thought since many dealers aren't discounting the 4.6 at all!!!!
