In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Hi - Is it advisable to remove the metal wire surround "spring" from the origional wheel cap before heating it in the oven? Thanks!

Leave the ring on. No need to remove it.

Drive a brand new 2011 Genesis 4.6 V8. Have secured the winged emblems to replace the oem center H, but cannot figure out how to remove the center wheel cap so I can heat it, remove the H and replace that with the winged emblem. When I put a screw driver in the slot and try to pry off the cap it seems to stick and am afraid I will bend it if I use too much force. What am I doing wrong? Can't find anything in the manual regarding removal.

First of all put some electrical tape or a thin cloth around the tip of the screw driver so as not to damage the wheel or cap, I think there is a tool in the tire well that will also work. The first time you remove the caps it may take some force , the screw driver should not bend. You have really got to get the tip of the screw driver in the slot. You can also put some tape on the wheel at the point where the slot is so that the screw driver will rest on it, insert the tip of the screw driver in the slot, as you push back on the screw driver also push the screw driver in at an angle . The cap will lift up slightly, put your fingers up under it and lift it free. If you do not feel comfortable take it to the dealer. The key is to protect the wheel. If you get the caps off look at the back of the cap and you will see a picture of a tire valve, you will want to line that valve up with the valve on the wheel when you put the caps back on or just make sure the spokes on the cap line up with the spoke on the wheel. If the retaining wire on the back of the a cap comes off just look at one of the caps that the wire did not come off on to see how to put it back on. I hope this will help. The cap is made of plastic. The first time I removed mine it took more force than I expected but the caps came free with no problems at all.
Good Luck

Thanks. Some tape on the screwdriver and a little more pressure did the trick.
Now that I have the center wheel caps removed from the car am I supposed to put them in the oven, per other instructions, so the center caps that the original oem H are attached to can be removed (popped out) ? If so, do I then "peel off the original oem H plates and replace them with the winged Genesis plates that have 3 M adhesive on them ( I purchased them on e bay) and, finally, replace the newly designed center cap to the wheel caps and reinstall on the wheels?

You are correct on all of the above. Also, there is a video on this site of how to do the trunk emblem.

Thanks for your confirmation of what I must do. Already have trunk emblem on... part of my deal with the dealer at purchase time.

Just completed the transfer process. Used an oven at 225 degrees for 15 minutes to heat each 18" wheel cap. Then, I gently pried off the oem center H logo from their bases using small knife and screwdriver blades as the pry tools. The multi-pronged bases for the oem H logos never popped out of the wheel caps, as expected. The thin gripping rims of the oem H logos were not even damaged during the process. ( I'll keep them as souvenirs.) I then placed the purchased wings with 3 M tape backing directly onto the thin, sticky, putty-like substances that remained unmoved on the surface where the oem H had originally rested. The purchased wings were slightly smaller in diameter than the oem H logos, so I was careful to center them on the top of the original bases. They look great! Thanks to all for your advice and support pictures.

Glad it worked out for you. If you ever need to replace the wheel emblem, the emblem from the 17" replacement wheel cap is the exact same size as the emblem on the stock 18" wheel so you won't have to center them, but you have to heat and remove those from the wheel cap. I don't know what they're selling on eBay, but I know the ones I used are a perfect fit.

I just replaced the trunk badge on my 2010 Genesis 4.6 per the video shared by homeofstone. It worked perfectly! The "H" has now been replaced by wings and looking good...
