2012 genesis sedan - price paid

Hey folks, new to the Genesis world. Traded my 06 Azera which was an outstanding car for an 11 4.6. $36500 after rebates which includes $1500 loyalty and $1000 cash bonus for financing 48 mo at 0.9%. Got the winged badges, cargo mat and nitrogen in the tires (don't know what this is really good for) but hey thought it was a great deal and bit. Added the dupont for the leather for $200, any thoughts if I wasted money on this?

Thanks,

O2

Local dealer had their new '11 4.6 listed at $32,999 so you may have paid too much for yours.

I don't know, checked with several dealers, could only find demos for that price and that's with them advertising the demos around $36K.

You didn't pay too much. You got a fine deal. That's about what they're going for. Zag/Amex has the car listed at about $38,800 for LA before rebates.

I hate when people post shite like, "you may have paid too much for yours", after the fact, knowing that can only make another person feel bad and powerless.

That $32,XXX price is very suspicious. Would like to know more. What are the specific's?

Also, we don't know what he got on his trade-in.

Information was provided with no ill intent so relax. I don't have any details other than local dealer had 1 in their inventory listed on their website as new and it's gone as of few days. I'm sorry that this could not help ones who already purchased but hopefully this will help others with their negotiation in the future.

Also my brother bought from same dealer his 2012 3.8 Genesis w/ prem+tech White for $34k but this one was demo w/ 3k miles on it. Car is gorgeous and is like new. This dealer also offers free oil change and car washes. I been trying to get them to be under $41k for R-Spec from their price of $42.5k but they are not budging on their price.

I bought my 2012 3.8 Premium from Fitzgerald Hyundai in Rockville, MD for slightly under $35k (list $39885.00) with the conquest rebate included in that price. I am near Philadelphia and none of the dealers in the tri-state area had a blue/cashmere premium that was not a base or a tech.

I happened to be coming to Bethesda for a meeting and the stars aligned. Fitzgerald had the car I wanted coming in and it was delivered a few days before my meeting.

My local dealer (Conicelli) was willing to match the lowest truecar price, so price was not the issue (although Fitzgerald's price was a few hundred less than in my area). The transaction was absolutely painless and took a total of 15 minutes. Mike Coady (salesman) was great. My prior experience with Conicelli was good so I would not hesitate to recommend them if you are prepared, they just could not get the car. I was dealing with Casey Wheat at Conicelli and he seemed pretty good.

New here.....

Just bought 2012 V8 Pearl White w/ Cashmere leather, cargo insert, ipod cable and cargo net for $40k. Was stickered at $45k + but a "special" at $40.800. From what I had been seeing that was a pretty fair deal so I just said I would take it for $40k even and that was that. I'm not big on haggling all day. I looked long enough and it seemed pretty good. In and out in less than an hour.

I bought new 2012 genesis sedan 3.8 v6 with premium package last Saturday from one of NJ dealerships. MSRP was $40,035(including iPod cable, cargo tray and wheel lock). I paid $34,400+TTL for it after loyal incentive $-1,500. There was no additional documentation fee.

I'm going to replace H mark with kdm wing badge. This car has 18 inches wheel. So, kdm wing badge wheel cap is much more expensive than 17 inches one. ($130 for 18", $50 for 17"). It will cost me about $200 to change total 7 badges (trunk, hood, steering wheel and 4 wheel cap).

Got a 2012 R-Spec on Sat morning. Invoice price - $3000 ($1500 loyalty + $1500 competitve owner) = $41,044.

LOVE. THE. CAR. Best car I own and I own a lot of 'em :)

A good friend as a '10 4.6 and driving back-to-back the differences in the R-spec are pretty noticable. And I LOVE his 4.6

I thought you could only get 1 of the rebate and not both.

After doing the research for about a month, I had been in the final decision stages on a new car purchase, and the Genesis just plain beat out everything else I put up against it for my budget range. I was shooting for $35K-40K for the best luxury car I could get. Narrowed down to Cadillac CTS, Chrysler 300C and the Genesis. To get all the options I wanted would have driven the CTS right out of the box on price. The Chrysler 300C was similarly high priced and seemed more like a "p!mp-mobile". The Genesis 3.8L with the Premium package won hands down. But I really wasn't anticipating pulling the trigger until Black Friday.

Earlier this past week I started arranging my financing with my Credit Union, and on Tuesday took my aging 1998 Volvo S-70 in for required Virginia emissions testing. It failed - not on emissions, but the on-board diagnostics were messed up (and have been for quite some time), and the registration runs out October 31. That means TC2 don't have a car to drive come Tuesday next week (unless he borrows the wife's Honda Pilot - try prying THAT from her fingers). Est repairs were $200 minimum to >$1000 expected. That plus finding EXACTLY the car I was looking for on the interwebz, and available locally, coupled with the fact that the Hyundai rebates ($1500 Customer Loyalty + $500 Retired Military) were due to run out 31 October, meant that the die was cast to pull the trigger RIGHT NOW to avoid some significant problems next week and ensure I didn't lose out on $2K worth of savings. The timing on the financing could not have been better - picked up the check last night, in preparation for test-drive today. :)

Thanks to God, I had gotten a great, no-nonsense internet quote in my hand from FitzMall in Maryland, on exactly the car I was looking for, which compared very favorably against TrueCar pricing with a couple more goodies on the Fitzmall car. So I took leave from work today, drove up to Maryland, and after four hours drove out with this amazing beauty of a car!!!

Here's the specifics:

Car: 2012 Hyundai Genesis 3.8L V-6 in Cabernet Red/Cashmere Leather, with Premium Package, Cargo Tray+Net, Sunroof Wind Deflector

Extra goodies: At my request, salesman threw in a IPOD cable and Wheel Lug locks.
I had asked for rebadging all around thrown in but dealer wouldn't go there - they offered badges/wheel wings for $400 "at cost" but I turned that down since I can get 'em for half price or better on ebay and just install 'em myself. No deal breaker there.

MSRP: $40,045.00

Dealer Invoice (from their website): $37,594.00

Deal: $34,998 (includes dealer fee of $199, and rebates of $1500 Customer Loyalty + $500 Retired Military discount) - $2596 below invoice (TrueCar price with 3 other dealer guarantees was $2700 below invoice but without including the Sunroof windscreen or cargo tray/net, IPod cable or wheel locks)

So when you compare the FitzMall price to the TrueCar price + cost of the additional nicities, the FitzMall price came out on top, and the car was immediately available. No brainer there.

TTL: $1199.19 TTL under Virginia tax (3%)

Total price out the door: $36,192.19

I could not be happier! The FitzMall internet quote was excellent, they gave me a small amount on trade for the Volvo, and didn't argue over a couple hundred $$ bump-up on the trade-in value to close the deal. Let's face it, the ol' Volvo was of no use to me at this point other than to give it to a relative out of state (and burden them with fix-it problems) or donate it to charity for the tax deduction. Since I did want to drive back in the new car today, right answer was to do the trade.

Without question my new Genny is the nicest car I have ever owned (well the Credit Union owns at this point)

I was treated with respect and professionally by FitzMall the whole way through. 4 hrs in the dealership from start to finish (including a test drive). It helped that I had a check in my hands to give them, as well, I think.

Another great feeling: took the car to my local mechanic in Dumfries VA for Virginia Safety and Emissions testing (required, and on my dime - $44), and all of the mechanics in the shop were just drooling over it!! They were all amazed at how far Hyundai has come in terms of quality. Made remarks about what a great quality job the paint job was (love that deep burgundy with the pearl-esent undertone, 'specially here in Washington Redskins country :D), the great looking interior, tons of toys and they were thoroughly impressed by the 333 horses under the hood. The owner told me, "Dang, do you know what kind of a great deal you just got?? That car looks like it cost $50-60 thousand, easy!!" How's THAT for Hyundai making impressions?

No question that this is a superb automobile, and it changed some minds of some pretty experienced car-folk at my mechanic's place. So glad I went this direction rather than the CTS or Chrysler, or even unaffordable (for me, anyways) BMW, Lexus, Benz, Acura, Volvo or Infinity. The Genny has them ALL beat for value, and features, performance is great and the looks it gets are amazing.

Saw this in an article somewhere that, in the Genesis, Hyundai was looking to capture the performance of a BMW 7, features of a BMW 5, and the price of a BMW 3 series. In my book, they sure did.

First post...been lurking for a few months now preparing to buy an R-spec when the time was right. Had been emailing dealers in the area using the Circle price as a base for negotiating. They all said they couldn't go below Circle, that they only got a $250 flat fee from Hyundai for it, etc. Eventually, one was motivated enough to sell and I picked up the car today. Ironically, they never asked for my Circle certificate.

2012 5.0 R-Spec Titanium - rebadged rear, ipod cable, some kind of aftermarket tint
Negotiated price - $42,225
Rebates - $1500 Competitive Owner Rebate
Purchase price - $40725
Motozuma Rebate - $500
Net price - $40225

I think I got a pretty darn good deal for an R-spec. But, there's always a "but." You always hear stories about people getting in accidents on the way home from the dealer. Never thought it would happen to me. Been driving for 15 years and never had an accident. Of course, I get rear-ended by some guy who too worried about the guy "on his tail". Pictures will be in a separate thread.

great deal!
i can't believe how cheap VA tax and license is (3%).
here in California, it's about 10% for TTL.

I haven't purchased the car yet, but it is my final quote from Hyundai Dealer in Northern California.

2012 Genesis 4.6 Sedan; Car price + TTL; True out the door = $41,500.00
(Tax rate 8.75%, $1,500 Coupon applied)
I believe this is good deal! Ready to purchase the car finally.

It took a month to pulling out this deal from various dealers.

I finally pulled the trigger on a 2012 Titanium grey V-8. $37,669 +TTL. Dealer threw in paint protection and full emblem replacement, cargo insert, ipod cable and cargo net. Downside, 3000 miles.
