2012 genesis sedan - price paid

Here an update on my impressions of the new 2012 Genesis 4.6 that I bought in Virginia and drove back to Maine where I live. I'm embarrassed to say that my previous post was premature and not well thought out because I have absolutely fallen in love with this car during the past 2 days. I'm so glad that I gave it a little time before making any rash decisions. I guess I just needed some time to adjust from driving a Lincoln LS for nearly 8 years because the Genesis is certainly a very different car.

Just to be sure, I visited a bunch of different new car dealers today to compare other cars with my Genesis. I looked at Infinity M, Cadillac CTS, Mercedes E350, BMW 535i, Lexus LS and Lexus ES. I quickly came to the conclusion that there the Genesis is truly a remarkable car - particularly for the money. Certainly the Genesis is not perfect, and there are some things that I wish were different. But I cna find nothing else out there that I like better, and I have finally convinced myself that the Genesis a huge step up from my Lincoln LS.

I now love the cabernet red exterior color. In fact, I've been trying to find a color that I would like better and I can't. I still find the interior cashmere color kind of cold and washed out, but even that it starting to grow on me. I'm now looking forward to many years of enjoying my new Genesis.

Cabernet Red V-6 with Premium Pkg. $35,645 plus TTL. Had to go 214 miles to Round Rock, Texas. Local dealer did not even know that the 2012's were out yet!

Any chance anyone could get me into Circle Cash A? I had someone who said they would get me a certificate but didn't come through. If so, shoot me a PM and i'll get you all the information for the certificate. And yes, I am ready to go ahead and buy before the end of the month.

I didn't reply to your post because I figured you'd arrive where you're at now. It takes time to adjust.

I wrote a post recently about planning to buy our new Genesis. Didn't get any replies so I pulled the trigger anyway and ended up very happy with 2012 3.8 with premium in white pearl and saddle for $34,410 plus TTL.

I'd like to thank the folks here and at the Edmunds forum for terrific buying insights that allowed me both a great price to target, and which dealer to be less likely to play games.

Several others here in Florida recommended FitzMall in Clearwater for great pricing and a clean deal, especially compared with sneaky dealings of some other Florida dealers. We drove a ways to pick it up Saturday, and, oh man, what a thoroughly pleasant and hassle free experience it actually was!

Fitzgerald has very good internet pricing at their site to start with but with the Hyundai Circle pricing or zag.com pricing, they truly deliver. You'll save another $450 or so over zag.com if you can qualify for Circle pricing, which currently has another $250 incentive plus the $1,500 competitive model rebate.

Gary is their new internet sales manager and I have to say I would have driven a full day to repeat this buying experience--by far the best in my many years of rough, tumble and sometimes bruising experiences negotiating to buy a car.

I have no connection with this dealer and could have chosen several others closer to me. Man, was it worth the drive.

As you may have already found, Google is your friend.

Apparently my google-fu is weak this month. Can you feed me the appropriate keywords or take pity and url me :P?

I got the 2012 V6 w/ Premium for $41,500 final price, that's with TTL and 2,000 negative equity added to it, now I feel like I could have gotten the 4.6 or Tech package for that amount, did I pay a good price?

I would not ask this question if I were you: it is a no-win scenario. Since you already purchased the vehicle, the best you can achieve is feeling OK with a high risk of feeling bad. Just remember this: no matter how good you do, someone always gets a better deal.

Cheers,
Newman

Agreed. The deal you did is just one in a series of deals you'll do in a lifetime. I do deals all year long. I seldom get the best deal. More often I walk away feeling like I did okay. People will say they got a smoking deal but they won't say what they got on a trade-in.

I didn't get the best deal on my 4.6 but I got a decent deal for the area I live in and availability of the color combo I wanted.

You got the car you wanted. Enjoy it and move on imo.

I bought my 2010 last year on the Circle Program. Since then it has seemed to be an entitlement for anyone who wants to buy a car rather than a perk for those who were members of the Hyundai Think Tank as a thank you for the member input. I recently received a message concerning the Circle program and it will be restricted in the future to members only and we were requested to not post any codes, transfer coupons or otherwise allow non members to falsify membership. The access codes will be changed often and only be available through the Think Tank channels. The only way to get into the Circle program is through participation in the Think Tank. It is a generous program to those who qualify and it would be a shame for it to go away due to misuse.

Truth be told I beat Circle pricing through Zag/Amex and negotiating.

Shopping for a Genesis Premium in Atlanta area. Lowest bid at 3pm tomorrow is gonna take it, but I think the price is as low as she is gonna go and I've had some folks ask so here is what I came up with.

about the deal:
* cash customer (actually bringing our own loan)
* $250 Circle Cash A
* $1500 Competitor's Rebate (1998 Grand Marquis)
* Additional Dealer Concession
* 6% sales tax
* no trade

about the car:
* V6 Premium, Platinum/Kashmere
* w/ Cargo Tray, iPod, Roadside Assistance Kit

drive-out: $37,3000, initial lowest offer from another dealer was $37,600, this was the first counter-offer from someone who was initially substantially higher

dealer perks: both dealers throw in an aftermarket power-train warranty for "free", I'll see if I cant get them to drop it off to save a few $100. One is a 200k/mile, one is "unlimited." This car will very-very-very likely be titled with its original owners for at _least_ the next 10 years. I usually like asking these things to go away in favor of more cash, is valuing it at approximately $300 too much? Too little? Any idea what their cost on these is? Both are big dealers.

random question: sunroof wind deflector nice to have? worth it? ugly? honestly I don't think were gonna see enough time

Mucho thanks to the person who helped me out w/ circle cash A.

I'll be glad to name-names via private msg beginning Thu evening if anyone wants to arrange a similar deal.

I also had offers on a non-premium w/ indeterminate accessories drive-off at $32,325 w/ circle cash and competitors rebate.

Losing cars were: 2011 Lacross very nicely fitted a hair under or over 30k, M37 36mo/15k lease @ $620/mo after tax w/ 9xMSD.

This deal is for my dad. I have a 2008 Burgundy Sonata base + floormats which I love and I bought new for $16,075 in 2008. In 2010 I looked for a Genesis for my wife but ended up leasing a G37 @ $264/mo after tax w/ 9x MSD. Truth be told, w/ the strength of the used car market, if you keep a car a long time I am still oddly finding myself in the position to recommend serially leasing a car but if you are buying to keep the Genesis is a stellar value.

If I had to buy for myself today I'd probably shop for an Optima to see if I could recapture the "stinky-name-brand" discount that Hyundai undeservedly gave you in 2008 due to misconceptions about their quality.

I know it's all in what you enjoy - so if my folks want the premium go for it, but I feel like the Genesis base v6 is a great, segment-leading value, the premium is a good value, and the V8...I'd keep driving my current car and save up a bit more to get into a Jag (yes...yes...I know...).

Demo point of interest: My wife & I are 28/29 but my folks are 62/66 - they typically keep a car about 6 years for special occasions, then it moves to a daily driver for 6 years, and then sits in their driveway for another 6 as a loaner, usually w/ around 60k mi at the 6 yr mark, 180k mi by the 12 year mark, and 200ish by the time it goes toes-up.

Yeah you're right, I mean I love the car so I guess that's all that matters :)

Rob, I think that seems pretty good. You mean out the door with 6% tax and tag and title you are just over 37K right?

This car is fun to drive even for a 28 year old, in my opinion. I drive an Infiniti G35 and have fun in the Genesis, too. So, please be sure your dad lets you drive it!

I think the sunroof wind deflector is absolutely worth it. Really cuts down the noise.

Any recommendations for a decent dealer in the Central NJ/Eastern PA area? I'm looking at Truecar and Amex reports, and all are pretty much the same - $37,100 for 3.8premium/tech (with discounts). Not sure if Hyundai Circle is that much better.

Just starting my search now, looking to buy in a month or two, and the 3.8 Genesis is high on the list.

Go to circle hyundai in shrewsbury. Ask for lissa (with two SS) and tell her that Jeff d sent you. They will honor true car pricing and they are great to deal with.

Just thought I'd contribute my purchase to the list here. In the DFW area, I purchased a black/black V6 with Tech package for 38,400 + TTL. That included the competitive rebate, and I did not use Motozuma. It took me a few weeks to get it down to that price - almost all but 2 were willing to go lower than 39,000, which surprised me considering the offers I've seen the others on this forum get. But then I realized that most of those deals were closer to the ports of entry for Hyundai vs. the middle of the country; so I concluded that those dealers had lower invoice prices.

Dealers are much more willing to negotiate in the final days of the month, and while I do think I could've squeezed out an extra $100 or two, I ultimately decided to pull the trigger when I felt like I got a good enough deal instead of the absolute best one ever.

Good luck to others in the hunt. I love the car - you won't be disappointed.

I don't know how much things have changed in the last few months but Fitzmall-Clearwater was the measuring bar for me as far as pricing. If you're questioning your dealer's price-check Fitzmall.
By the way- they have 2 R-Specs in stock.

Hey folks, new to the Genesis world. Traded my 06 Azera which was an outstanding car for an 11 4.6. $36500 after rebates which includes $1500 loyalty and $1000 cash bonus for financing 48 mo at 0.9%. Got the winged badges, cargo mat and nitrogen in the tires (don't know what this is really good for) but hey thought it was a great deal and bit. Added the dupont for the leather for $200, any thoughts if I wasted money on this?

Thanks,

O2
