  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 3.8 Ultimate Stereo Issues Anyone Else?

I have had issues with the source buttons and volume buttons just not responding or taking a very long time to respond. it is frustrating. restarting the car always helps.

I had the 1G and really enjoyed the system with no issues and therefore felt the new 2G fully loaded 3.8 AWD would at least match or exceed it. However the system has never been up to par with the 1G. Not even close. Seems like I need to turn the volume way up to get it to start kicking and especially when playing XM. I have XM in my other 4 cars with no issues but ever since I had the the 2G XM would just go out for no reason for like 20+ minutes. Now it's displaying "subscription updated" over & over and I have to keep refreshing xm signal to radio. The dealer looked at it and state they can't find anything???

Yes I have had this issue, but it was with my 2012. I also had to do the same, turn ignition off to get radio back on.
I now have a 2016 4 door sedan with only 14k miles. This is my 3rd Genesis in a row. So far I don't recall having to do this,,,,yet.
But here is a topper....my current 2016 Genesis was struck in November 2017, in an accident, from behind. Strike began on left rear of vehicle and continued damage to rear quarter panel, trunk area, etc. Repairable and as of yesterday, I have it back.
The radio they claim stopped working and they updated during the end of the repair. They told me the amplifier was damaged and they had to find factory one and replace it. I am looking at the repair bill and it shows cost as $1708.84 , but the bill also shows the item as "Amplifier w/surround sound w/14 speaker system". Now, is it just me or does anyone else see this bill like I do? It reads and appears to me that the amp replacement came with the 14 speaker system. Therefore, my question is where are my 14 speakers I paid for? Because I am sure they were not damaged, and, they never reported that they were. Please someone help me clarify if I am right or wrong. I quoted exactly as on bill at time of pickup after dealership had my car for 2 months doing repairs.

I think they are just differentiating between the 14 speaker system and the 17 speaker system. You did not pay for the speakers already in place. If you had service and they charged "oil filter w/ 5.0 liter engine" it does not mean you got a new engine, just the one that fits that particular engine.

Don't worry, you wouldn't want those speakers anyway. I pulled the subwoofer to install an aftermarket box. It was the saddest excuse for a speaker I've ever seen!

I have a 2015 3.8 AWD Ultimate with 48K miles. I don't play my music excessively loud and just had my THIRD amplifier replaced. I fear the 4th. Something is faulty or underpowered, this is not normal.

Symptoms before complete stereo losss: Stereo clips/cuts out regardless of source

Turning off the vehicle and turning it back on would resolve the issue originally...

Then it didn't resolve the issue and apparently the Amplifier was blown.

Dealership overnighted a replacement Amplifier from california vehicle had around 18k miles. (I drive over close to 150-200 miles a day) So long trips with no music sucks!

Now same thing happened again... Vehicle has just slightly above 20k miles. Just happened Friday when driving to work. Stereo does not come back (No Audio, No Beeps from the Parking sensors anything driven by the amplifier/speakers)

Has anyone else had this issue or experience similar problems? I'm not sure if this is just the ultimate version having this issue due to the additional speakers.

When I originally purchased vehicle the audio clipping did not occur.....
Yes same annoying issues here. I keep bringing it back in to dealership over and over again and still no improvement

017 Ultimate 2000 miles and I'm experiencing the same issue!

I've had no sound after a remote start a few times in the winter. Restarting the car would fix it, but rather annoying to have to do so (sound actually came back as I shut off as I recall). Since it's warmed up, I have not remote started recently and have had no sound issues (other than sometimes slow Siruis boot up).

I have a 2017 Genesis G80 5.0 Ultimate and I’ve had audio system fail for the second time(No Sound). Took to the dealer for diagnostic and was told that it was the amp that had blown. They ordered another amp and replaced it, and I had sound again. Now I’m experiencing the exact same problem yet again ! Called corporate and was told the audio system/amps are third party parts and if it happened a third time that they would take this matter further 🤔 I’m pissed bc the amount of money you pay for the car, this issue should’ve even be a issue !

Reviving an old thread, but does the Ultimate and non-Ultimate version use the same amp? It seems that most who mentioned their car in this thread have an Ultimate.

I’ll be losing sleep having read this thread.

I'm sure there's far more out there without issues than there are with.

Just purchased a 2015 genesis 5.0, 2 weeks ago, and after realizing my amp has blown and reading this thread..should i just return the car. i love the car but this is unacceptable.

First, check out your warranty. Should be covered under 60k. If not they may still even replace it free of charge just to get you to keep it. Purchased my '15 5.0 with 36k miles around 40ish k miles tranny failed. Luckily it was still within warranty. It's a lovely car nevertheless. I really don't think I'll switch over. 2 Hyundai Genesis. This time I went sedan. Just drive it far and slightly hard, and see what you can break before outta warranty.

Sorry, totally new, no idea as to how to format properly and reply cohesively.😅

The 14 and 17 speaker systems use different amps. This is detailed in threads here about adding a subwoofer and the different wiring schematics to the amps. Our 2015 ultimate with the lexicon 17 speaker system works great. Bass is a bit weak but I'm past the "boom box in the trunk" stage.

I have read most of this thread and am now wondering if there is truly a fix. My 2015 Genesis is intermittently playing sound and most recently only in the late afternoon. I live in CA, and am wondering if it’s a temperature issue? Haven’t been to the dealer yet, but is that what’s recommended by the group? Thx

Hey Folks - Any update on this issue? My 2017 G90 clips audio from Bluetooth, cable plugged in, XM radio, at higher volumes. I'm 2nd owner so out of warranty. Quite disappointing to have this issue.
