I've been to 110 and it feels every bit as solid as a previous '99 A6 I used to have. In fact, I'm coming out of an Avalon touring and 110 was a bit of an accident as I wasn't looking at guages and it didn't feel that fast.

The trim (RWD 3.8) ran me US$ 40,250. I mentioned in another thread (I think) that it's a mix of packages. For example, I have the panoramic sunroof, CO2 sensor, 19" wheels, media and front seat controlling console (with a DC charging outlet) in the rear armrest, smart trunk and side-by-side navigation+media (which I think is absent from the base US trim?). Whereas I don't have the fog lights or the top reverse camera view; neither do I have control knob or the cooled seats.

We had the 5.0 Ultimate up to 130mph on the track in sports mode, I had to wear a helmet (on this head it was a tight squeeze but well worth it lol). For such a heavy car it was very stable feeling and I didn't note any significant flexing of the hood, the steering at those speeds though had a heavy feel to it....almost too heavy at times as the laps went by. They limited us to 135 but I never did get her there, for the entire day I put in about 60 laps and it felt great. The next couple of days though my head felt like it had been put through a blender.... my arms and legs were tired :D Fun day indeed !!!
 
That sounds like a fun day for sure. We took our Taurus SHO around Bristol Motor Speedway many moons ago at a charity ride. We had to keep it under a hundred but on that track, 80 seems like 180 LOL.
 
gameday22 Can you post up each of the safety features (Blind Spot, Lane Change Assist etc...) and break down which ones require input by the driver prior to it being activated -vs- those that are on all the time?

I've looked into the flexing hood some more as I believe I'm the only one that has noticed it. It is definitely not a high speed thing. I can duplicate it in my car, but it is more a function of viewing position than anything else. If the average person were to sit closer and higher than the "average" driving position it would be easier to see. At that steep viewing angle (I'm 6'5") there is a sharp contrast in the reflected light near the rear edge of the hood. The movement has been most noticable to me at slower speeds (20-30 mph). I have been able to see it on my empire state gray, but I have never noticed it without looking for it. The black car I test drove on a clear sunny day (apparently, on slow, bumpy roads) really accentuated the effect.

I thought about your post when I was at the car wash... Those tornado dryers when you pull out were really flexing the hood. Made it look like the metal was really thin. But I hit 115mph on 680 today and the hood stayed stable.

LKA (Lane Keep Assist) + Lane Departure: On till you turn it off.
Blind Spot Monitoring: Always on in the mirrors, can turn on/off for the HUD.
AEB (Autonomous Braking) Always on.
Driving Modes (Sports etc.) Must be set again each time you start the car.
Smart Cruise: Must be set again each time you start the car (distance included).
Traction Control: On unless you turn it off (ill have to see if it resets each time haven't turned it off personally).
Rear Cross Traffic Alert: On (haven't turned this off either will check it tomorrow).

Yeah we had a blast for sure, and when your going around a track like that it all seems way too fast lol.

What happens if someone runs a red light an comes across the lane in front of you? I know it will stop because the vehicle is in front of you (hopefully), but does it recognize a car approaching from the side street that still is not quite in front of you?

Exactly! Imagine if the car took away your capability to evade a collision by other means, like steering around a collision. Nobody would want that.

Exhaust note.
It has a nice deep, throaty sound once the revs get up around 4k. It wasn't nearly as noticeable the first week or so.

Yeh it does sound good a bit more aggressive than my 2011 was.

So any object (bicycle, person walking, etc...) that passes in front of the car from either side, would not trigger the brakes? What about a warning?

i bet you were babying the car the first week.
do you often get tempted to rev the engine past 4k RPM now that you've discovered this sound?
i honestly think the sound is the best feature of the 2nd generation.

I read a lot of 2015 articles during my decision phase of buying the car and I seem to remember one with more than the average mention of the AEB system. In that article the reporter stated that he had spoken to one of the systems engineers at Hyundai about the AEB (automatic emergency braking). He was told the system was capable of discerning a pedestrian it was engineered that well but because of the legal ramifications involved there is no mention of it and there wouldn’t be. I wish I could remember the article or made note of the site but it doesn’t matter. If it’s not in B/W by Hyundai it makes no difference and of course the reporters credibility comes into play.
 
Now that you mention it, I think I remember reading that same article. It is good to know even though it is not in writing from Hyundai. When I get my car I will do some test to see if it works.
