  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis "Likes":

Test drove a 3.8 AWD today. ( I bought a 2013 Genesis and 2013 Elantra last year) I went in just to drive and get my grandson a soccer ball (what a grandpa). No chance of buying one right now....the wife would hmmmm :-)

I was quite impressed with the ride. My 2013 has both options but this one has so many bells and whistles it could take a month to figure out how to use.
The switches on the lower left of dash are very hard to see or turn on or off.
You almost have to pull over to do so.
Two salesmen tried to use the auto trunk opener and couldn't. I love bells and whistles and automation but it is getting to the point where it is almost dangerous to try to use some of the bells and whistles while driving.
It is sweet though I see one in my garage in late 2015 or early 2016.

I agree on the switches, but there is little to no reason to fool with those switches while driving with the exception of maybe the rear curtain switch. That switch is easy to locate by feel as it is on the end.

The auto-opening trunk must be turned on by the switches on the steering wheel. Then, you have to walk away from the car and reapproach it to have the trunk open. If you stay by the car, it will not open. That way, if you park and walk around behind the car, it does not open on you.

i bet you were babying the car the first week.
do you often get tempted to rev the engine past 4k RPM now that you've discovered this sound?
i honestly think the sound is the best feature of the 2nd generation.
I definitely didn't baby it, but it now down shifts in normal mode much more readily than it used to. I swear there was a break in to the exhaust too. I sat in a parking lot and took turns revving it in neutral with my brother and it sounds much better now. Maybe under load vs in neutral? Dunno. I just know I like it.

Had to add this to the “Likes”. When settings are set right there are no more acknowledgements of any kind after startup. Just start the car now instead of the “H” coming up on the screen the Genesis Wings comes up stays there for about 5 seconds. Then the copy right screen for about another 5 seconds and then straight to the map. I know this was a source of annoyance for me and some other forum members.

Really glad to hear this. One of the best features of the entire system is it was almost many free in comparison to many other brands, sounds like they made it even better.

Can you post up how to change these settings?

Actually just got a price reduction on my insurance over my 2011 Genesis. Go figure.

I like the sweet female voice that says "Curve ahead" as I near a severe curve. I suspect the location where it occurs is coded into the map data rather than being computed. It always occurs at the same precise locations.

Is it speed related? If you approach the same curve an a much slower speed do you get the same response?

I will hopefully assume those voice warnings are optional and can be easily disabled.

Me too. When we get ours we plan to take it up to Front Royal an drive the Blue Ridge Parkway back south through all the switch backs. Last thing I want hear before every corner is a warning message.

I tried it today without the cruise control on. No warning was given. Apparently it is a function of the cruise control and the cruise control must be reading the map to know there is a right-angle curve 1/2 mile ahead. Maybe if you cancel the radar cruise control function she will not warn you. I haven't tried this yet, but I will next time I get an opportunity.

The warnoing seems to come closer to the corner as speed decreases. About 1/2 mile at 70, but just a couple of hundred yards at 40.

It is definitely an option you can disable. I think it's under Nav settings when I was playing with it.

I'm amazed at how fast the system responds to a downshift request. It seems to choose the just the right gear very fast even it if it has to shifts down a couple of gears. What a difference from my 2011. Very responsive transmission hard to believe it’s manipulating 8 gears. In normal mode no less.

That is great news Pahaska... I wouldn't be using the cruise when driving through the mountains. You mentioned above that "without the cruise control" on the warning wasn't given. Then you mentioned "if you cancel the radar cruise control" it will not warn you. Isn't this the same thing or are there two different cruise control settings?

If you hold down the button that sets the following distance for the radar cruise control for a certain amount of time (I would have to check the manual for the time), the radar function is turned off and it becomes a regular cruise control without the following distance function. You would have to do this each time the cruise control is turned on by the top button.

I have never done this to date. I said that it MAY not warn you. I'll check that some time.

Something else I found that's pretty cool...got in the car this morning and it told me to straighten the wheel, show's on the LCD between the gauges with a picture of your car and the wheels turned and what direction they need to go to be straight....a simple touch but neat.
