  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis "Likes":

Here is something someone posted on another post. If you leave your window open when you turn off your car, you will get a warning that it is left open. I sent this info to my salesman and he responded that it also gives you a warning when you leave open your sunroof. Now that is a great feature. I am sure there are other warnings it gives you so if anyone else learns of any, please post them.

Warns you if your wheels are turned form straight forward as well and warns you that you'll drain your battery if you listen to the radio and have with the engine off :)

When you use Auto Hold, it changes from white to green font in the instrument cluster when engaged so you know when you can take your foot off the brake after stopping.

Keep 'em coming. I was assuming my base model didn't have snow mode. Does it do anything else besides second gear? I've seen limited documentation on this feature.

I haven't found any real documentation for it either, but I did take a drive with it on. It appears to start in 2 (which you can see by kicking it into manual mode). It feels like the throttle response is directly muted, even compared to the same gear in eco mode. It also seemed to avoid the higher gears. I didn't have it on for a long-long time to play with it, but it seemed to be avoiding 7 and 8 as well. I'm guessing if that's the case it's to prevent a slide-inducing downshift when you start going up a hill and you're barely touching the throttle.

Snow mode. Pretty funny. Most automatic transmissions used to have these shift positions as standard equipment - P, R, N, 1,2,D.

Obviously manufacturers could have altered things per vehicle, but in all my vehicles the selections of 2 or 3 would limit the max gear to those, rather than force their use. Some just had "low" that accomplish the same thing. Some had low + 1, some had overdrive for doing the same thing on the top end. This is fairly different from a manually controllable automatic where you actually choose the gear, and what you see is what you get.

Kind of a sideways example, the Sienna has a shift mode where you can select gears 1 through 6, but it doesn't choose the gear it just limits the max. Meant to be used for towing, but of course has other uses too. It's not as good as a snow mode though, and neither is the old style PRND21/etc.

Another like for the list. I never used the key fob to lock or unlock my doors, always the button on the door. Problem there is the mirrors are not programmed to fold when done this way and only fold if you lock with the fob. The 2015 now also folds and unfolds with the door button. :D

I, for one, love BlueLink. I saw someone in another thread saying that it was unreliable, but then again Canadians don't have it, so they don't have experience with it unless they own a newer GM vehicle with OnStar. It runs over Verizon's network, so it works almost anywhere in the United States. Personally, I love being able to flash my lights, sound my horn, locate my car, lock my car, unlock my car, and send POIs to my car from my iPhone. I also use Google Local Search almost all the time; it's nice to just push a button on the mirror and speak the POI name because Google almost always has *new* POIs in their database. In addition, I like having the security of the car automatically notifying emergency authorities in the event of an accident without it having to go through my smartphone.

I like it too. I wish they would add rear defroster and seat heaters to the settings for remote start. I am sure they can just a matter of programming it. Also, whenever I use it and get in the car, the wipers do one sweep. Very odd. The other thing that is interesting is the car is not totally on - when I get in, the radio / nav needs to boot up. Would be nice if that was already going....

I would assume this is because you have the wipers set in automatic mode. Try tuning the wipers to off and try it again. ;)

That's a really good idea actually. I don't live in a cold climate anymore, but I remember those cold Toronto mornings when if you didn't run out and start your car (preferably 15 minutes) before it was time to leave, it was a very unpleasant experience.

Mine does the same thing with the wipers.

I have my wipers on auto all the time. If I get in the car and start it via push button ignition, they don't do a sweep. When I do it via BlueLink and get in, they do. Why should one have to turn off their automatic wipers before using remote start for it to not do a sweep?

The system boot up is very quick as in not having to wait at all. My Gen 1 would take a few minutes before I was able to make a call. :D

On my 2011 I remember how annoying that was. On screen message something like “Please wait while system is ready and try again”. I had to wait to get moving before I could put in a destination.

Do you know if you can enter in a destination while moving in the new Gen 2 car? I know my wife's Civic you can't. You have to be stopped. It is a pain in the azz.

On my Infiniti G you can’t also but on the 2015 Genesis you can and my 2011 you could. The only problem with doing it is it has to be done manually. As been stated in prior posts there is no navigation key word to call up a saved route. (Bad oversight) On my 2011 the keyword was “Navigate” and route name worked great.

You can enter a destination while moving on the base 2015 AWD.

The nice thing with the 2015 is you can enter an address all in one sentence via voice recognition. Or if you don't know that, just press the Google Search button on the mirror and say the name of the destination.

and if you do, it's the same as texting while driving - a bad idea. Let a passenger do it or use voice input. I am increasingly burned out honking at lane drifting, green light stopped, slowly decelerating cars all tell-tale signs of drivers engrossed by the 4" screen in their hand.
