  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis "Likes":

Here are a few of the likes. Keep in mind I am coming from a 2012 Genesis 3.8 Pemium/Tech.

1) Power folding/unfolding mirrors that work automatically when you touch the button on the door handle to lock/unlock the car.

2) The Genesis logo on the ground at night when the puddle lamps activate

3) The anchor in the trunk that you hook plastic grocery bags to

4) Touchscreen display. My 2012 G didn't have it.

5) The pulldown window shades on the two side rear windows

6) Game Zone. Shows all sports on the various sirius/XM channels. Great for college football on Saturdays. You see a listing of all the games on Sirius. Just touch the game you want to listen to and Sirius dials in that channel.

7) Favorite team set. I marked by favorite MLB baseball team (Cardinals) and when I start my car a screen pops up telling me when the Cardinal games are now playing on Sirius. You get the option to touch yes on the screen and Sirius goes to that channel. Amazing.

8) Some radio channels auto record. If you start your car and a song is playing you can go back to the beginning of the song. Listening to talk radio and you have to run inside a store for a minute? No problem. When you return to the car rewind back to where you left off and you won't miss a thing. This feature works on Sirius channels. I don't know about regular AM-FM stations.

9) Seems like the front end is a smidge higher than my 2012 G. I don't scrape the front end much compared to the 2012 G.

I'm finding other goodies each day.

A few more from me:

1 - I love that you can take a call and switch back to Sirius and pause the radio during the call.

2 - I like that the seat heaters are also ventilated (fan comes on)

3 - the interior lighting is great

4 - The rear cross traffic alert works wonderfully

5 - The transmission is very smooth

6 - The Lexicon stereo is AMAZING.

....

One other thing Ive noticed on the 2015 Genesis is the door jams are different than the 2012. Meaning there is a raised lip that seals the door when closed and the lighted Genesis door plate is a little lower than that raised lip. This means that you will not rake your shoe over the lighted Genesis door jam and scratch it. I noticed after a few years my 2012 was getting a bit scraped up even though it has a plastic cover over it.

The transmission is not ZF, it is a Hyundai design altough I think ZF manufactures it for Hyundai. My original 2009 Genesis had a ZF transmission, but later models changed to the Hyundai design when 8 speeds appeared.
Word on the street is that the Hyundai 8-speed is based on the Aisin 8-speed.

No affiliation with ZF, which is a good thing IMO as ZF is grossly overrated and they have lots of issues with their transmissions..

I should add another like. The A/C on the 2015 is great. My 2012 air conditioning system was weak.

Not only is it great the overall comfort in the vehicle climate wise is just great. They really got it right. Will reserve further judgement after winter kicks in.

Heated steering wheel in the Canadian version gen 1 was great but unfortunately the top faux wood portion was not heated. On the gen 2, it is even heated on the top portion or all around if you prefer. Nice additional touch. ;)

Just curious does the Canadian version of the 2015 have faux wood on top of steering wheel?

I LOVE the Genesis "Bat signal". I continually marvel at that. :D

Just went by a neighbors lawn sprinkler and windshield wipers automatically went on for 4 cycles before shutting off. Very cool & not aware of this feature.

Auto wipers work very well but you do need to have them in the auto position which is one notch down from off. Personally mine are always left in the auto position ;) You can also adjust how agressive or not you want them to be. Read the manual on this for further explanation.

I like the auto wipers. The down side is silly things like the car in front or beside using theirs and the spray hitting your windshield. If there’s any dirt on the windshield it looks awful. I used to keep it on but those and other situations discouraged that now It’s off till needed.

I found a new feature last night which i didn't know of, automatic full beam lights, accidentally turned it on last night and was amazing my full beam turned off when it detected other cars. Just thought it was such a cool feature.

The auto lights are turned on by a very brief push of the lever into high beam and a little icon will appear. Took me a while to learn that. A longer push in either direction turns off the auto feature and allows the driver to control the lights. The auto lights will only go to high beam a over about 30 mph and it is neat that they start in manual mode and always go to low beam whenever stopping at a stop sign or light.

In our deer-populated subdivision, I have to put the high beam on manually to better spot the deer since I am driving too slowly for it to automatically go to high beam.

Interesting I don’t remember reading about the 30mph requirement for the auto high beam operation but I was driving in a desolate area recently very slow about 20 mph and noticed the auto high beam wasn’t going on. I was thinking “what’s going on?” Later on a main road (probably doing over 30 mph) they started working again and I was quite bewildered.

Found it.

Just noticed that if you don't check off that you have EZ Pass (electronic toll pay) in the NAV menu, then it routes you to cash toll lanes if the highway splits off that way. I don't have EZ Pass and got a ticket last year when I didn't notice the highway split off for cash tolls until it was too late to get over. This weekend, the NAV notified it was sending me off to the cash lanes in advance = very helpful little detail!

Further to this feature, it looks like you have to have an active route to access the option - so... I'm not sure if the setting "sticks" after you do it for one route or if you have to do it for each route you set up (will have to see)?

Once in a route you, hit "menu" to get this screen (in Ultimate System):

Hitting "Route Options" then gets you to this screen where you can activate the "Use Toll Pass" option, if you have one:

Just some Likes we found so far on our first road trip with the new car:

Auto trunk opening
Able to press the lock button in the trunk to lock the car.
It knows when key fob (wife's in purse) and won't allow you to lock car with button on the door.
Functionality of voice commands are awesome. Night & day above Honda's.
Bluelink system allowing auto start
Blue link system allows you to send POI to car automatically then stores it.
Accuracy of GPS. It is spot on. Even parked us at the correct mall entrance for a store my wife POI to car. Might have just been a coincidence but it took us all the way around the mall to the back side.
Many more to come later...

Is it me or is it really the car when you select sport mode the car has a bit of a growl to the engine. I know the transmission and suspension are changed. Can't imagine what could be changing the sound of the engine. I knew some models out there pump engine sounds thru the speakers. Very cheezzy. Hope is isn't the case with the new Genesis.
