  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Sedan Reviews

Great link! It actually sounds like the Lotus folks didn't have as much opportunity and time to tune the suspension as some might have hoped.

Yeah, they got pre-production cars, but could only make recommendations to tweak to pieces as opposed to effect design which was already cast. A lot of focus on the steering.

Here is a list from the video they worked on out of California and not on a track in England:

steering tuning
engine mount tuning
transmission mount tuning
sub-frame tuning
damper tuning
shock absorber tuning
spring rate tuning
anti-roll bar stiffness
tire suggestions

A lot of auto pubs got it wrong in saying that Lotus tuned the Genesis when it was done by Hyundai engineers w/ input from Lotus - but as stated in the video, each market does their own fine-tuning.

Out of all the H/K markets, seems like the Aussie Kia engineers have done the best job in getting the proper mix of sportiness and ride.

Any mention of the tires for the 2015? hopefully it's not the same awful tires that were standard on the 1st generation Genesis

A point of curiosity for a while has been the styling evolution of cars apparently without concern for front end bumper protection. Haven’t been able to really see how they can maintain the federal 5mph front impact mandate. Case in point the new Genesis. I don’t see how somebody just backing in and tapping the front at 5mph or less would not cause considerable damage. I don’t see any point in the front that looks like it can take a hit unless that grille is flexible.

The Dunlop name has been mentioned....

I have also heard Hankook mentioned, especially on the 5,0. Hankook is a South Korean tire manufacturer.

There is no 5mph bumper regulations anymore. 2.5mph with allowances of major damage.. Many say yea.. I say, what a crock. I enjoyed 5mph bumpers. Mostly because they were better than that. And in parking lots, morons hit the cars and I only got small scratches if that. And have been rear ended before. With the big bumpers in the rear, most times no damage. Many have said the reduction of the bumper standards was for "pedestrian safety" and lack of "crumple zone" in high speed crashes. All .gov BS.

I am not sure, but I think by now 5mph bumpers are not allowed. And trucks have NO bumpers under the facade. They crumple up like wet paper towels for "pedestrian" and "small car" safety.

Sad really.. Your insurance rates go up, and damage to your car that is mars its value will happen for the smallest collisions.

If you live in very populated area like I do I don’t see how you can avoid some idiot tapping your car. In a mall parking lot even if you try to park away from everybody which I do eventually they will get you. At least my 2011 has a blank area where the bumper (if we can still call it that) is and has been able to take a couple of “Taps” with minor scratches of course . What happens when it’s all grille in the front? Well I’ll find out soon enough. After a negative session with my default dealer I’ve gone out of area (NJ) and was told by the dealer that they had paper work showing a 2015 3.8 Black AWD Ultimate definitely due next month. We’ll see.

Welcome to full sticker price land next month. ,-)

I don't know your ages, DRS and Ernie, but many of us remember chromed steel bumpers. Next came rubber pads and nipples over the steel. Those old bumpers were great for preventing paintwork repairs, but crash safety was inferior to today's cars.

Old enough to remember have driven one of the most formidable front bumpers to date a 1956 Cadillac. That car would have stood up well in a chariot race. As for full sticker price... “We’ll see”.

I'm just hoping it isn't full sticker plus some kind of nonsense fee on top of that. It will be interesting to see how the pricing rolls out. I have a feeling these cars are either going to sell like hot cakes or people are going to rebel at the price due to the way the options are structured. It's a shame if you want the better leather and real wood you have to spend 12k additional. to get them. Well... we'll all know soon enough.

All valid points. Still, even if prospective buyers think they are overpriced for Hyundais, dealers will be pushing them at close to window price plus the add ons like trunk mat, locking wheel nuts, etc., till fall. IMHO

Cars have always been priced based on availability and yes in the beginning it will be hard to get one for less than full sticker. That being said, if you are considered a good customer by your dealership I am sure they will do a little something for you. I expect a $2000 discount, not much but more than welcome. If they cannot keep them in stock then even in fall it will be difficult to get a deal however I have a gut feeling sales will be not much better than the previous edition, they still are fighting the Hyundai brand issue. Throw a Mercedes emblem on it and they would not be able to keep one on the show room floor.

Thanks for the link. This reviewer claims a 0-60 of about 6 seconds for the V8!? Wow.

Makes sense as I have seen lower 7's for the V6. Took almost a good 1 second hit across the board.:(

Very disappointing performance from my perspective if those number prove to be accurate which is questionable.
