  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Sedan Reviews

Power is still pretty much the same. They have tweaked things to make more power in the mid range so passing should be improved. It is not the 0-60 times that determine a cars overall performance. Heck my daughters Yaris is pretty quick off the line but falls on its face after 60 mph.

That is true. Will have to see after pundits get their opportunity to test. Still, going from a 4.6 that is fairly quick off the line, 5.3 which is questionable, to a V6 that is low 7's will be quite an adjustment.

Good read.... They sound like a married couple in the video. Even worse, it was like deja vu with my husband when I'm driving. Ugh... LOL

So the final word is that it's slower, doesn't handle quite as well, costs more, and it has that,,,,,that,,,,,,grill..................

Finally some juicy info on the V8 including weights, 0-60 times and MPG.

"When you're close enough with the key fob in your pocket, the trunk will open after three seconds. It's a great "watch this!" feature you can only get on the Genesis V-6 or V-8 with the Ultimate Package. Or the 2015 Hyundai Sonata. And the 2015 Kia Sedona minivan."

Not to mention the lack of the real wood dash in the lower end models. Some folks here have said that they would not mind giving up their current leather dash for real wood. Now it looks like most buyers will get stuck with zeroxed plastic wood.

As expected, the almost 400 pound weight gain from the previous V8 model effected performance and makes the car comparable performance-wise mostly to 6-cylinder offerings. I know it's got more sound deadening and some wiz bang electronics, but that is a pretty big weight gain.

More technology + sound deadening + stiffer structure for crash testing = 400lbs weight gain.

The sound deadening is about 80 lbs, shared across models. The V6 has no where near the same weight gain and like the V8, the engine is basically the same.

The V8 also has features that can't be had on the V6. Again, these things add weight. Besides, the V6 has gained a considerable amount of weight as well.

What are the features that are not available on the V6 besides the continuous damping control suspension?

How about you do your own research?

Whoa, Larry.

I did and can't find anything besides the CDC. You stated it has more weight gaining features that the V6 - I am curious what that is. I do research and make sure I post a lot of info here, so switch to decaf or back off.

Doesn't handle quite as well? Where does it say that?

The new car is about 1/2 second slower around the MT figure 8, fifth paragraph.

A few things I would like to touch on.

I really wish it didn't gain 400 lbs that is significant. That now puts it at 600 lbs more than the slightly smaller CTS V-Sport which already has ~50 lb-ft more.

Also keep in mind that this is not the R-spec and isn't even sport tuned in the least bit. There is no sport package on this 5.0 V8 version people. That model will be out later in the Genesis's life span. Lets hope that they target the best in segment aka CTS V-Sport and Audi S6 because I know Hyundai isn't prepared to introduce any RS6, M5, E63 level car. Hyundai should be working on 0-60 times approaching the 4.0 sec barrier with all due respect if they want to stay ahead.

It does however look very nice.

If the sources are correct there are new engines in development specifically of the force induced variety.

Wow I'm glad I bought a 2013 Chrysler 300 SRT 8. I'm getting 0-60 times of 4.5-4.7 seconds and I get more complements on my Breaking Bad Black Bad Ass Car

Outside of some additional gadgets and a better interior the performance has suffered from last years R spec . Sorry Hyundai you missed on this one.....

Slower doesn't necessarily equate to poorer handling.

Too bad about the amount of weight gain, but the 2G Genesis probably feels more substantial and rides really quiet.

If Hyundai does follow thru w/ a real performance trim - aside from a FI motor, performance-oriented tuning, etc. - should lose some weight.
