  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis Sedan Reviews

So there’s a difference of 1.3 seconds to 60 between the MT and CD reviews what’s up with that. Both cars RWD.

Does not make much sense, unless host John Davis and his entire family were in the car during testing. They obviously were not based on the video, so something is amiss here as the 1/4 mile time was more in line with expectations.

I am a fan however of the MW show and normally find them to be accurate, fair and folksy in a good way. Plus, they shoot the show in my neck of the woods.

My observations on the ¼ mile times were the same as yours.

There's a quite positive write-up of the 5.0 in the Sept. edition of C&D.

Basically says the Genesis harkens to the LS400.

0-60 in 5.0s.

W/ better rubber, would be sub 5s.

Not bad for a fat pig.

Maybe not. The Hankooks are pretty sticky already.

One of the better sentences I have read in a review "A word of warning about the Genesis: take it for a test drive at your own risk, because once you've spent any amount of time behind the wheel, you'll very quickly see that the fleet of automotive emperors you once lusted after no longer seem to be wearing a single stitch".

Good review - Canadian car however due to the references to AWD and the V8, which the US does not have.

Interestingly, they list as one of the "Lows" in the summary at the end, "No rear-wheel drive model offered for enthusiasts". The grass is always greener....

I guess we all watch Motorweek, even if it's just out of habit. Still, isn't it time for John Davis to hang it up and become the host emeritus? At this point even Al Sharpton could read the scripts aloud with a better delivery.

The reviewers all seem to measure rear legroom with the front seat all the way back. If they combine front and rear legroom they will find the Genesis usually has more total legroom. Most competitors don't have as much front legroom with the front seat all the way back.

I agree, but the funny thing is, he sounds the same way he did 20 years ago! In other words, he's always had bad delivery. At this point however, it's almost endearing for nostalgic reasons.

FYI folks, that SAE paper is for the previous generation. Note the date of 2008. The new one is even better.
