If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Today I finally made it to a distant dealer to see if I fit. The model they had for me to sit in was the Signature level. I was disappointed in the comfort of the front seat (bottom of seat felt hard). I recall from the group that there is a difference between the base seat and the seats that come with the Tech and Ultimate levels. When I asked the salesman he said they were identical. Please advise. If there is a difference how big would you say it is. I realize it is subjective. Thanks

Stay away from that salesman - he's lying to you or doesn't know his product. :)

Thanks for the input. Are the upgraded seats standard on the Tech and Ultimate packages?

Thanks for the link. Does the premium leather, bolster, etc. also include more padding in the seat bottom for driver and passenger? Signature level very hard bottoms.

It is a completely different seat all together. Not only do you get auto side bolster adjustments, but you get the auto leg support extension, lumbar in & out auto adjustment as well as up and down placement of the lumbar support.

I highly recommend you locate a dealer online that has a ultimate and go check one out. Below is a list of adjustments. This seat is by far the best seat I have ever sat in.

I have a signature. The seats are very comfortable, especially compared to my 2012 4.6, however, the seat are different in the Tech and Ultimate, and they are supremely comfortable. the side bolstering is better, the leather is softer, but the real killer is the seat extension... That completely changes the level of comfort in the seat. I would love to have them, but stayed with the signature because I really did not need the other features. Many that were in the tech were in my 4.6, and I never used them, so I didn't need them this time around.

Is it possible to get the premium seat installed in a Signature? I find the Signature seat uncomfy.

I have the Signature and find the seats pretty comfortable but I would like to have the extension being a tall, long legged fella. It seems to me that if they were hard to you, you should get the tech package. We obsess over colors and engines and whatnot, but comfort is probably the most important thing.

That is a TERRIBLE salesman. He should NOT be allowed to sell high-end Hyundai's to customers. Which dealership did you go to? I want to contact them.

No, it is not. However, if you eat enough Krispy Kreme doughnuts, you won't notice any hardness in the seat cushion.

Are you being serious or not? If serious - why can't you install the better seat in essentially the same car?

Seriously, the seat in the ultimate is the most comfortable car seat I have ever sat in. I wish I could get one on wheels to replace my office chair!

You better get your pen and a few reams of paper ready, because if you are looking to call uninformed salesmen, you'll be tied up for a while

I suppose that if one had enough money they could have it done. But it likely would be cost prohibitive. It may not be as simple as just dropping in the new seat, as there may be structural changes as to how it attaches to the floor and electrical changes. But even if it was just a seat change, Hyundai dealers charge so much for parts and labor (compared to what it costs if included in a factory build) that I just can't imagine that it would be cost effective.

I could not find the price of a 2015 Genesis drivers seat, but the MSRP of a 2014 Equus driver seat is $3,594.97 without the DVD on the back of the seat, and without replacing any track or mounting hardware. Labor is extra.

I was not kidding about the doughnuts. However, I think the main benefit of the Ultimate seat is the thigh extension, so unless one is fairly tall, it may not make as much difference as some people think (although it does have better side bolstering also).

Your real problem is not the seat. The concern should be the distant dealer. If you will really need to drive far to correct problems that arise after purchase, this may not be the car for you.

I just want to call that dealership or write them an email letting them know that this is what they're doing to their high-end customers. Have a damn meeting and tell your sales people that their customers were not F'ing born yesterday...

I'd be very, very surprised if the track or mounting hardware was ANY different. The only difference that would make sense is wiring and I bet that's plug 'n play as well. I'm not guaranteeing it would work but I have a strong feeling it would.

It sounds to me like the better seat has more/a softer bottom cushion as well as the added bolster support, softer leather and extender. That would make me want to the upgraded seat as well...

As the internet has empowered consumers over the last decade, the quality of salespeople has declined. Many customers know more about the car than the sales staff, whom are focused solely on enabling a sale. Years ago, a car sales job was higher on the rung - today it can be the entry level sales job, which values minor sales skills, not product knowledge. Knowledge in the car dealer business can be a liability - some may appreciate the knowledge by buying from that salesman, for many however, they will then shop the best price armed with any new found knowledge.

I know what you're saying but that's crazy for a dealership to feel that way about it's staff selling expensive cars to "potential" customers. That's how you lose relationships. Human beings are the most intelligent species on the planet. If you're going to sell the Genesis and Equus - read the damn manual or go on the internet like a normal person and research the product you're selling. It's bad when you tell a customer something can't be had or done and you're wrong - especially when the customer is aware of it...

Ya know what I think happened? Since it's so stupid and I expect even a baby to know the seats in the more expensive model are better... I think this sales guy knew the buyer wasn't going to pay for the more expensive model so he didn't want to lose the sale by telling him, "Yes - the one you won't buy is better". Sure, I bet a lot of sales people do that but, again, you don't "build" relationships with a lie. And while the "relationship" might not be ALL that important to the sales person (it should be for future sales) - the dealership itself survives based on relationships (service) - and should frown upon this type of behavior...

I was torn between signature and tech, and ultimately came to the same conclusion as you and went with signature. I didn't need all the driver aids (I will do the driving myself, thank you!) and aside from this the only difference was the bigger LCD screen near the gauges (which functions exactly the same as the smaller one just on a larger scale) and the premium leather. With signature you still get 14 point adjusting seats with lumbar support, you just dont get the leg extender and the side bolsters. Softer leather would have been nice, but I came from a performance car with sh!tty cloth seats so these are like a dream in comparison :) You also get the lexicon 14 speaker series 7 system with signature, which only differs from the ultimate in that the ultimate has 17 speakers instead of 14. I still ask myself if I should have ponied up a few extra thousand for the tech package, but am ultimately glad i made the choice I did.
