  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Genesis V6 Signature vs. premium seat

I could not find the price of a 2015 Genesis drivers seat, but the MSRP of a 2014 Equus driver seat is $3,594.97 without the DVD on the back of the seat, and without replacing any track or mounting hardware. Labor is extra.

Time to start calling around junk yards. Many these days have their inventory on line before you even go there.

Maybe hard to find a driver seat for 2015 Hyundai Genesis Tech Package or Ultimate Package with the right color.

It's amazing how expensive stuff is these days. Almost $4000 for a car seat.

I read somewhere that to purchase the individual parts for a car from a dealer parts department, they add up to more than 5 times of the original retail cost of the car.

I wouldn't be surprised...

No, it is not. However, if you eat enough Krispy Kreme doughnuts, you won't notice any hardness in the seat cushion.

Lol, that was a good one. Pass on that; I'll just deal with the seat. :D

I have a signature. The seats are very comfortable, especially compared to my 2012 4.6, however, the seat are different in the Tech and Ultimate, and they are supremely comfortable. the side bolstering is better, the leather is softer, but the real killer is the seat extension... That completely changes the level of comfort in the seat. I would love to have them, but stayed with the signature because I really did not need the other features. Many that were in the tech were in my 4.6, and I never used them, so I didn't need them this time around.

Two quick questions:

1. Are the Signature seats positively better than a 2012 w/the best seats? (I have one and like them very much)

2. The extension makes a lot of sense. But is it true that the value perceived is just for tall people?

  1. I don't recall anyone saying that the 2015 signature seats a "much" better than 2009-2014 seats, but maybe someone else can chime in on that.
  2. I am sure that every person, no matter how short they are, who purchased the Tech or Ultimate Package with the thigh extensions on the seats, is going to say how great the seats are. However, I don't think many people have complained about the regular 2015 seats unless they needed extra thigh support (regular seat was too short for them). Seems to me that people can do a test drive with each package and decide for themselves. Some people spend too much time worrying about what other people think, when they should just try it and decide for themselves.

The other seat adjustments are what brings it all together. The auto side bolsters are awesome. The Lumber not only moves forward & aft but it also adjusts up and down. The headrest (for all model levels) adjust forward & aft as well as up and down.

Signature has lumbar support too that moves up and down, just doesn't have the side bolsters and thigh extension. auto telescopic steering wheel and seat memory buttons are on signature as well. I personally think the seats are very comfortable, best I've ever had...but again I came from an uncomfortable sports car before this.

I'm a little fanatical about seat comfort - especially for my passengers - so I want to get the softest leather. The other stuff sounds like a nice bonus as well. Especially if the seat bottoms are thicker/softer. Anything that aids in comfort is a plus to me...

Agree. I am very happy with my purchase.

1) In my opinion, yes, the Signature seats are more comfortable. A little more bolstering, a little firmer (which I prefer... the softness will come over time, as the padding wears a bit). Other than that not much, but enough that I notice and prefer it.

2) Again, in my opinion, the set extension makes a huge difference. After being in ANY car for a while my legs get a bit uncomfortable. When I drove my parents Lexus LS 460, I used the seat extension and it made a huge difference in comfort. I also test drove a V8 Ultimate while I had my car in for service, and the extension, once again, was very comfortable. Just not worth it for me to pay the difference in price between Sig and Tech to get the seat, at the time I purchased.

In the end, it is really up to the individual to decide which seat they prefer, but I have no doubt that you, or any one for that matter, would have the same opinion.

Thanks for your very valid points.
I'd sum it up as very good Vs the best.
And fully agree: price vs function perception is individual.

Ok so I asked the dealership about installing an upgraded seat in my signature and was told it's not possible. They went on to say, even if it was, it would cost about $6K and safety comes into play by removing one seat and replacing it with another. I truly don't see how since they are the same seat with the upgraded seat having a few more features.

Such a money grab. And the safety part sounds absolutely ridiculous to me. I don't see why the seat frame would be different for either seat. So I suppose if a seat needs to be replaced they just total the car and give you a new one since it would then be a safety issue. :p

+1. There's absolutely no way that they changed the bolt points between the seats. The wiring might be a different issue, but that seat is most certainly a bolt-in replacement.

I'm sure it's just one of the typical geniuses who said this at the Hyundai dealership who doesn't understand how to deal with higher-end Genesis buyers/owners...

Could not agree more. The only thing I am not happy about with the Genesis is the geniuses at the dealership. They are the geniuses I expected, but that still does not keep me from being annoyed.
