2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

KDM Equus always has vertical grills, they changed them to horizontal for US Models. K7/Cadenza is same as Azera, K9 is based off current Genesis/BH platform. 2014 Genesis is supposed to be on updated BH platform, with available AWD, which would put it generation past current K9. IMO K9 is fugly, worst implementation of the 'Tiger Nose' by far. I really hope new Genesis doesn't follow the Audi trend with big ass geometric grill like everyone else has, i.e. new Lexus with 'spindle' grill.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Genisis will not be built of a FF platform... it will be FR. The K7 / Azera is a FF platform.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Car And Driver released an article and they are saying Genesis will keep the existing engines and no word on 10 speed transmission.

If there's no turbo I'm not upgrading...

I think that car and driver is being a little cheeky in calling the Genesis sedan conservative. Elegant and sophisticated I could buy. I think the Genesis looks every bit as classy as the current E class Benz. Sumpin' wrong widdat?

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Looking at the new 2014 Equus I can't help but see similarities with Kia Quoris (K9). With few differences like the grill and other minor style difference it looks like the same car.

2013 Kia K9

Going by this I think we could assume that new Genesis will have a lot of the similar styles as the newly revealed Kia Cardenza (K7)

Also it looks like Hyundai is going with the vertical grill. I'm seeing this in the newly redesigned Azera and Equus so I think we'll see this in the new Genesis as well (I believe someone already stated that grill in the spy shot may be fake). If true I don't think I like this and maybe another reason for me to consider 2013 R-Spec.

The Equus and K9 look nothing alike to me. And the K7 is a large, FWD sedan; there is no way the Genesis will look anything like it.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

It's promising to know that the second gen Genesis is being heavily developed in Europe.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Man ....I really wan't all the new toys the 2014's will offer from a technology standpoint but god are those grills ugly as can be....hopefully they will not do this to the Genesis

The new Equus is nothing short of incredible in the tech department, I absolutely love that 9" screen.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Hideous grill. And the rear lights are just as bad. Toyota/Lexus are going the way of Honda/Acura with their styling: "cutting-edge".

Well, guess what? Cutting-edge is not attractive. Sorry! Maybe they should get some real car enthusiasts into their design offices, 'cause these artists definitely don't design things that are appealing to me.

That's my opinion, anyway.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

The Genesis concept car will be unveiled at the Detroit Auto Show on 14 or 17 January. Hyundai concept cars in the past have been very close to actual production models.

We can agree to disagree.

http://www.netcarshow.com/hyundai/2007-genesis_concept/

That looks nothing like the actual 2009 Genesis.

One more thing... if the 2014 Genesis is already a reality, then why come out with a concept that "hints" at the Genesis at all? Just call it a concept, don't compare the two. My opinion.

The worst implementation of the 'tiger nose' grill is the new Forte.

The K9's grill just needs to get rid of the vertical slats; I have more issues w/ the headlight shape.

The refreshed front fascia of the K7 is much better and that's what the front of the K9 should have been.

It's likely that both the 10 spd AT and the TT V6 won't make their way into the 2G Genesis until its refresh.

The Genesis is no more "conservative" than the 5 Series (mostly b/c it looks a BMW from the side).

As for the E Class, it's even more conservative looking from the side and rear and w/ its toned down front fascia for its refresh, it's now all-around conservative looking.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I said profile not greenhouse. Profile is made up of more than the greenhouse. My comparison to the 7-Sieries comes from the long engine bay and the upright frontal area.

Gotcha, but the diff. greenhouse/roofline doesn't really make the similar except for up front.

The original Genesis prototype tried to maintain some legacy Hyundai style elements, but that was a disaster and was scrapped at the last minute, and Hyundai copied MB (front) and BMW (rear) for the first Genesis. That turned out to be a very wise and successful decision, so I don't expect to see any completely original designs in the next generation of Genesis. The risk is too high.

Aside from having a center divider on the grill, don't see any copying of MB up front.

And as for the rear, there is some vague resemblance to the rear of one of the 3 Series.

The BMW influence is pretty much in the greenhouse w/ the Hofmeister kink (albeit BMW didn't originate that).

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Nice! Up close, it definitely looks more production-like with softer lines compared to the HCD-14 concept photos.

Like the interior color, too - looks great with the silver and dark wood accents.

Re: 2014 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

No picture of the dash? Someone gets a chance to take interior pictures and they only take the back seat!?

If you look at the youtube videos of the two you'll notice a lot of similarities especially in the interior styles and features.
