  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I would think a fully optioned out 3.8 with AWD has to be around $45K.
A 2014 fully optioned (Premium and Tech Packages) is $43,900 plus freight, and the AWD is probably going to be a couple of grand, so 2015 fully optioned 3.8 with AWD might be at least $47K. But one never knows.

From the article that highlights the Canadian release of the Genesis

Power comes from the choice of two engines: a 3.8-litre Gasoline Direct Injection (GDI) V6 making 311 horsepower and 293 lb.-ft., and a 5.0L Tau V8 that makes 420 hp and 383 lb.-ft. Both come mated to an eight-speed automatic as standard, and both come standard in Canada with a new 40:60 front/rear split all-wheel-drive system (up to 100 per cent of power can be transferred to the rear wheels, and 90 per cent to the fronts). A crucial feature, that.

I didn't read it that way. AWD "standard" could simply mean "AWD on the cheapest model" eg no RWD V6 for Canada. If they built an AWD V8 in Canadian spec it would be silly not to sell it in the US as well.

If AWD is not available in a US V8 version within two years, it'll be a winterbeater and a C7 or a wheelchair for me.

I'm with you. At age 70, I do not like wasting time or compromising. Still may test drive the AWD V6 when it becomes available.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Well they updated the genesis micro site to say 420hp, so that seems to be confirmed. The gallery on the microsite still has the dual projectors though. The spec sheet and options list remain unchanged.

You see the C7 Z06 wow!

"For the American market, Hyundai will offer all-wheel as an option on the Genesis V6. As for the V8, Hyundai is “studying” it as an option at a future date. On the other hand, Canadian market cars will not be offered with rear-wheel drive at all. Even for such a small market, the fact is that a rear-drive sedan would sit collecting dust on dealer lots, and Hyundai Canada’s planners made the choice to forgo RWD. Even BMWs are almost exclusvely xDrive in the Great White North. Canadians will get to enjoy a rare exclusive product – for now at least."

This is not going to sit well with potential V8 buyers in northern USA states. I can already smell a revolution here.

Hope the studying is done by launch and they come to their senses. They had previously said they projected almost 50% take on AWD for these cars, seems like offering that on the premium car is a no brainer, especially if it is not technical issue. On another note, it is hard to find a non-AWD 5 series BMW in stock north of the Carolina's, so someone has this figured out.

If enough folks make the appropriate noise, we will get a release of the AWD V8. Maybe not spring but I would bet in mid fall.

Why not here!!!

I emailed to Seyth Miersma at Autoblog who reportedly did testdrive 5.0 AWD in South Korea. He confirmed it was 5.0 AWD in his email. (Thank you, Seyth). So it exists!

Either they think that there may not be sufficient demand in States or they think that there may be an overwhelming demand for the V8 in Canada and they may not be able to keep up with same. That is why I think we may get access to delivery of V8 AWD after the dust settles in fall.

I just emailed my dealer and told them that I am only interested in the AWD V8 and that they should inform Corporate that there may be a demand for same here in States. Perhaps we should all start a personal campaign to get the model released here.

*I also emailed at consumeraffairs@hmausa.com asking about this issue.

*I sent a facebook message to Hyundai USA too.

Ha..will see how it turns out.

Thanks for contact info. Just also sent them an email.

Watched with interest the unveiling of the 2015 Genesis at the Detroit Show. Seems that presently there are no plans to release the 5.0 AWD in USA although Canada will have access to same as standard. Perhaps your dealership should let Corporate know that there would be a demand for the AWD V8 here in the States. I for one, will not purchase the V6 with AWD. Just sayin...

I will write as well. What were they thinking?!

No AWD in the 5.0 will be a deal killer for me. As much as I like the assurance trade in value, I cannot say it will not make me look elsewhere. I am not thrilled with the grill but will wait to see it in person. I like the long hood and short overhangs though, but I am looking for AWD on my next vehicle and I also happen to like fast powerful cars, so no AWD on the 5.0 or on a future r-spec package, I will go elsewhere. I am kind of at a loss with what they are thinking.

here's a bit of back n forth from caranddriver.com

C/D: We haven’t heard anything about the next-generation Genesis R-Spec sedan yet. Does that mean we should expect something more than the current model?

MOB: That frankly has a lot to do with us not having the 5.0-liter, all-wheel drive yet. There is going to be something and we’re hoping you see it as more.
