2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Since the 2015 has been unveiled, and spy photos are no longer relevant, maybe this thread should be closed. There are other threads that discuss 2015 features, etc.

With it not being in production yet I would argue some things still haven't been finalized and/or have conflicting reports. I'm presuming we might get future pictures from the several other auto shows held in the next month or two.

I don't want to make a big deal about that, but those will not be spy photos. Anyone can open a new thread about a specific subject if there is not already one open (I believe there are several threads already about the 2015). Also, since they have not officially started production of USA models, any Genesis cars in the US right now may not reflect the final option packages.

Does anyone know why some of these subjects above are being discussed in a general discussion forum thread that talks about 2015 Genesis Spy Photos?

Was wondering when some one would notice.
Thanks:mad:

Superbowl commercial. This is the first time I've seen this, though I had read a summary before.

Way too many threads about the 2015 and too many questions (still and until we see it on showrooms) about what the US cars will be.

Contacted Hyundai about the LED headlights or at least us getting the front LED turn signals like the Korean market,, here was a brief of their response. Looks like I will probably just order the headlights from Korea similar to what I did with Prada lights. If I decide to get the 2015 Genesis

Although we include these factors in all of our vehicles, we are sometimes unable to produce an automobile with the features and materials that will exactly match a particular customer's preference or satisfy and appeal to all of our customers' tastes. Unfortunately, at this time there is no provision for special ordering the requested optional LED lights. We apologize for any inconvenience or disappointment the lack of LED headlights or turn signals may cause you.

I guess I should have sent my email more in the form of a question. I sent mine as a short list of polite suggestions. In retrospect I should have phrased it to get a reply since they actually seem to be doing so.

I suggested V8 + Coldweather be available (as seen in autoshow pictures)
Saddle brown two tone leather be available (that should be a no cost transfer from KDM)
I also suggested they move the Drive Mode and Auto Hold to the bottom of the DIS knob area and revise the shifter surround to lose the button spaces there.

Has anyone emailed about "coldweather" and V8 who got a response?

As already mentioned, they are considering a Genesis AWD V8, which undoubtedly would have the heated steering wheel. Hyundai recently conducted a survey of current Hyundai owners (not limited to Genesis owners) on the Hyundai Think Tank about whether to offer an AWD V8 Genesis, so I assume they will make a decision fairly soon, but that does not mean for sure it would be available in the spring.

Only including heated steering wheel on AWD models (when the car has optional AWD) is not something that Hyundai thought of. Many Japanese manufacturers do the same thing.

Why do you feel the need to reply without actually answering the question in order to say things that you know I already know?

The AWD V8 that has been discussed (at least per the articles I read) was not to be available at launch and was not to be a simple 5.0 AWD, but a higher cost performance model if the articles are correct. Your reply does nothing to answer the question as the entire point of the question is that Hyundai has given conflicting info and I wanted to know if anyone had clarified it with them. Since you feel the need to repeat yourself in response to anything I say I will repeat that even if Hyundai didn't invent the pairing of AWD and the heated rear seat it is still not the norm for the industry. What vehicles are you even referring to? The 5, E, A6, and CTS all offer it on 2WD models and the 5, E, and A6 are the cars Hyundai wants to compete with so I have no idea why you keep repeating this mantra. It also makes 0 sense if they choose not to offer the AWD V8 combo to tie the option to the AWD anyway. It also makes 0 sense in the setting of offering it on all their own vehicles including the Elantra, Sonata, Azera, and the outgoing '14 V8 Genesis.

The question is whether anyone has information on which conflicting info is correct at this point.

Edit: So I checked out this random assertion that the Japanese luxury brands tie a cold weather package (I was talking more about heated rear seats and you were talking about heated steering wheels) to AWD and it turns out your assertion is a bit flimsy. The Acura TL doesn't as it doesn't offer them at all. The Lexus GS offers both as options with RWD. The Infiniti M offers only the heated wheel, but again it is not tied to AWD. But even if this were true, you would still have to show that they tied the package to AWD AND failed to offer AWD on the top model in order to compare it to the Genesis situation.

I would not exactly say for certain that the info I posted about the survey on Hyundai Think Tank is "conflicting" with the information you are quoting. However, the point is that the survey was quite recent, and would suggest that Hyundai has probably not finalized a decision on that yet. So the point I was trying to get across is that it would not do any good to ask Hyundai for a decision, since they probably have not made one, but even if they did make a decision on AWD V8 for the USA market they would announce it to the public before they told you in a private email (nothing personal against you).

This is different than the situation with the LED headlamps, where they have obviously made a decision, which they have shared with those who asked about it.

I was not referring to the think tank (that's Hyundai asking a question not making a statement) I was referring to the V8 that Hyundai showcased at Detroit being equipped with the same features that the "features list" that was part of the press packet for the same event said were not available on the V8.

On the LED headlights: exactly my point, that's why I was asking if anyone had gotten clarification on the part that's still in limbo....

I guess you still don't understand what I was getting at. Why would they conduct a survey on whether an AWD V8 for 2015 Genesis should be offered, if they have already made up their mind?

I haven't been talking about AWD at all except as it applies to the availability of other options. I now have no idea what you're getting at. Let me try this to clarify: I don't really care if they offer an AWD V8, but IF they don't then they should offer the heated rear seat and steering wheel anyway. As I have said multiple times what wouldn't makes sense is choosing not to offer AWD --AND-- still pairing the heated rear seat and steering wheel with AWD anyway... making it totally unavailable on the V8.

What I have been referring to (clearly) every time is the "cold weather" package when I referred to both "being in limbo" and "conflicting info". You appeared to realize this at the beginning and then change the topic for no apparent reason and pretend that I was the one who didn't understand.

Yeah they surprisingly sent me a large e-mail about my concerns, I wasn't expecting all of that. I guess I should have asked about the Saddle brown too since that's the only color I would choose. I would imagine they will include it though like how I have it in my current Genesis.

They should really change some of the pictures on https://www.hyundaigenesis.com/

In several pictures, they show the Korean headlights which could be misleading to some users. I guess that's why they state "prototype version shown in pictures" but still, lol.

How can they change the pics until they have started production on the USA models with the final configurations? I would not assume anything about the 2015's until they arrive.

It's really simple; they take the pictures from the Detroit USDM models (over 100) that they put in their press release.

They already have US models in the US. Hyundai Motors in CA probably have a few to test and show off internally to the US division. And if they are due in showrooms in April they should be on the assembly line if not already on a boat over here.
