  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

thank you, I like the puddle lights

first word that came to mind was...tacky.

Second...not bright enough.

Go figure.

as far as the youtube video of a guy babbling for 12 minutes...not the best guy to do it. He's got no magnetism at all and sounds like he's reading a brochure. Does not get the crowd going and excited about all the new features, etc.

Did anyone miss that he only had to click the remote once to unfold the mirrors? I think that should have been standard on the current model.

I think kitschy is a better word than tacky for those logo puddle lamps. Sort of a Batmobile touch too.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
I agree! Much better in person, and actually getting to test out the quality of the interior, I was in love with it :)

Now it's just time to test drive.

If it drives as good as it looks, I'll certainly be ready with my checkbook.

It's already a hit in Korea w/ 18k pre-orders (Hyundai was hoping to sell 30k of the 2G Genesis for all of its markets in 2014 - so the Korean market already has gone over the 50% mark of what Hyundai had planned to sell).

Good to hear Hyundai has rectified things like the quality of interior materials and seat bolstering for the most part.

However, I hear that that the door lock/release is silver painted plastic and not metal which should not be the case (since it's an area that gets touched/handled a lot) on the Genesis, much less the Equus.

Thanks for the report.

Hyundai had better be prepared to ramp up production, because I'll say they will come close to selling 30K in NoAm alone.

You know, I'm not sure if the door release handle is metal or plastic. With as many times as sat in it, you'd think I'd know for sure but I'm drawing a blank.

I think the Genesis puddle lights are a nice touch, but agree they could be brighter. I don't know who that guy is, but John Krafcik usually did the intros for new Hyundai products and was quite good at it. Hyundai will need to find a suitable replacement.

Just got back from the Chicago Auto Show and all I can say about the 2015 Genesis is wow. Pictures just doesn't do it justice as it is absolutely stunning in the flesh. As soon as I got to the show, I made my way to the Hyundai display and there was a huge crowd of people standing around the Genesis and a line to get in the driver's seat. When it was finally my turn, I scrutinized every inch of the interior.

Let me say that there's simply no comparison between the 2009-14 Genesis and the 2015 Genesis. There's soft-touch materials every where. I know there was a debate as to which leather Hyundai is using for the new Genesis. I can't say for sure, but I think it is Nappa leather as it feels just like the leather in the K900. I can tell you it's some of the softest leather I've ever felt. I made a point to compare the Genesis' interior to all of its competitors(CTS, 5-Series, E-Class, Audi A6,Lexus GS) and it is more than just competitive; it's among the tops in its class. The bolsters in the Genny are plenty supportive, but when you power them up, you can feel the seat cradle you. I tried to wiggle around, but the seat held me in place, but did so comfortably.

I also made a point to check the travel of the power steering wheel and found that there is more than adequate adjustment there.

Larry'sown - Whow, thank you for the very detailed and informative report. Especially your descriptive assessment of the bolsters and how the bolsters feel when fully powered up ("tried to wiggle around, but the seat held me in place"). Secondly, Thanks also for testing the 'range' of the telescoping steering wheel. These 2 specific items (bolsters & telescoping steering wheel range) are what I have been asking about, and needing to know about.

You did not mention about the seat cushioning and seat height, but from the information that Hyundai supplied via YouTube clips & photographs, it appears that the seats bottoms are made with denser cushioning material which is less thick and they are lower (lower "H" point as per Hyundai). If all that is correct the seats should be in line with the BMW 5 series seats which are about as good as you can get IMHO.

Again, thank you for your time and effort to report this information to those of us on the forum that need this specific information. I'm not a BMW fan, but I have been very close to simply caving in and trading my new 6k mile Genesis Rspec for a 535i just for the seats. My Rspec is a great car, well built, nice looking, runs great, exceptional stereo, etc but I cannot drive it much due to the lacking telescoping wheel, and non-performance seat design.

I have some serious spinal issues and I need to have tight lateral support and be able to get close to the steering wheel in order to drive. Your information has helped me significantly. Now I just need to try and hold on until the 2015 5.0 Genesis arrives in April (hopefully) as per Hyundai. Regards, Dan

I went over to the Hyundai U.S. Hdqtr building again this weekend and sat and lovingly stared at the 2015 in the parking structure and all I can tell you is that this car will exceed your expectations. Period! I will quit trying to convince you, the car will speak for itself. If I had a Genesis, BMW 5, Audi 6 and a Mercedes E Class sitting in front of my house and was being given one of the four to drive for three years with no cost involved I would select the Hyundai. Nuff Said?

If it drives as good as it looks, I'll certainly be ready with my checkbook.

I wasn't allowed to drive the car but I spent two hours in the passenger seat of a fully camouflaged unit on a shakedown run with a Hyundai engineer and even from that perspective I'm telling you to get your checkbook out and make sure there's ink in the writing instruments because you will "NOT" be disappointed. My goal is to be the first owner in America.

According to the Hyundai Canada website, the 2013 Genesis has "Mirror Mounted Puddle Lamps."

And when you approach the car they light up the curb with the word GENESIS. Very cool. An engineer from Hyundai came by to take me on a shakedown run with him and it was still dark when he arrived. Got to see the puddle lamps. Pretty neat. But the rest of the car blew me away.

Since you live close to the Hyundai Motor America headquarters in California, what exactly is your relationship with Hyundai (directly or indirectly), or with someone you know who works for Hyundai?

I hope you say that you are connected in some way to Hyundai, or else, given that this past weekend (again) you "sat and lovingly stared at the 2015" I think you may need some professional assistance.

The guy was Dave Zuchowski. He is the replacement for John Krafcik. I hear he's a great guy but time will tell if he is capable of filling those VERY LARGE shoes. The Koreans have a way of shooting their successful leaders that mystifies me. The dominant ape theory that plagues Korean management style is alive and well. Shows a lack of maturity in my mind.

By the way, I saw the puddle lights on a car right in front of my house in the dark (fully camouflaged Genesis) and they were as bright as they need to be.

I guess you are talking about the 2015? I was referring to the Canadian 2013 Genesis, which already have the puddle lambs (apparently).

I think the guy in the video above is the Genesis Product Manager, not the new HMA CEO.

I need professional help. I really wanted to show it to my wife who had not seen it yet. She wanted to see what I have been fawning over since my chance to ride in a camouflaged unit with a Hyundai Engineer. The ride was arranged by John Krafcik the former President of Hyundai America who I met at a Cars and Coffee meeting. I'm just a dyed in the wool car lover from Detroit who loves the Hyundai product. I do not work for Hyundai or any car company.

I have a 2013 and have no problem with the brightness of my puddle lamps either. Hmm? Just wondering how much you want to light up. :-)

Probably a good idea. Your wife may have had a suspicion you were spending your spare time at strip clubs every weekend lovingly staring at naked women, and I am sure you scored some points by taking her there to see the Genesis and setting her straight. If you are lucky, she might even believe you.
