2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

Lexus also has good lease rates, due to very high residuals they set. Not as solid as the Benz and the tech is more current, but the Genesis will be one generation better. The F sport looks great, but again the Genesis may be a better buy if it pans out as hyped.
Which Lexus F-Sport are you referring to? Lexus now has the following 2014 F Sports:
  • IS 250 F Sport
  • GS 350 F Sport
  • LS 460 F Sport

Sure wish they would make a decision soon regarding the 5.0 AWD. Lexus 350 AWD F sport has quite a bit of technology and is few thousand less than the E350 4matic sport.

I don't get it. You keep hoping for an AWD 5.0, but then you look to two other V6 cars as an alternative? If you are considering the E350 and GS350, why not just get an AWD 3.8 and be done with it?

I was able to test drive the new 2014 E350 and it actually feels pretty fast for what it is, although the E550 would have been better. I do like the styling on the 2014's though.

I'm keeping my mind open for the MB E350 / E550 and the BMW 535 / 550 for my next car purchase. It depends on how I like the drive of the new Genesis.

Did it have the sport package? I know the car magazines that tested the E350 with the sport package were none too impressed because of the overly stiff ride.

I guess what I am trying to say is that if there is no possibility of a 5.0 AWD, then I should do my homework and look at all of the V6 AWD sedans to compare same to the Genesis 3.8 AWD. If Mark's info proves to be correct, then hands down I would purchase the Genesis 5.0 AWD without hesitation. I was referring the the GS 350 with F sport package.

2015 Genesis looks much bigger than a previous E class.
Hyundai, release Price, specification, available date, please!

I think we should expect pricing sometime in the next couple of weeks.

I would expect probably around New York auto show.

If they are going to do it, they should wait for the RK sedan and coupe and they will need at least one SUV/crossover. They need enough product to support the brand. Even if it is just a sub-brand you need more than the Genesis and Equus or don't even bother.

While I agree w/ that sentiment, that would mean waiting to launch the sub-brand until the 3rd gen Genesis sedan, so another 6 or so years.

If Hyundai is able to do it w/ the 2G Genesis, then the next Equus, the RK, the new coupe and presumably at least 1 luxury CUV could all be launched under the lux sub-brand.

The new Equus, the RK and new coupe should all be ready to launch within 2-3 years, so it's not like the sub-brand would just have the Genesis and Equus for more than a couple of years, but frankly, w/ this short time from until the 2G Genesis launch, I don't think they would have the time to pull it off.

Having a new sub-brand does not require them to have separate physical dealerships. In today's economic environment, I suspect separate dealerships for a luxury Hyundai brand are a pipe dream, and besides, they would have to give up substantial price advantages over the competition to support that.

You merely have to look at Ford and Lincoln. These days most, if not all, dealerships have been consolidated into one physical location. Further, Mercury is just a bad memory now.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Seems overdue considering Canada had more info closer to their premiere. I hope you're right.

Who knows; they could be trying to figure out pricing for features or eve. if they will offer AWD for the 5.0. I don't think we'll have to wait too much longer.

Unless I'm missing something, you pretty much just repeated what I said. I never said anything about waiting for 3G Genesis.

I am dissapointed how Hyundai has marketing the 2015 Genesis. I signed up for the "Update me" on their website a month ago and have not been sent anything. You would think they would give a nugget or throw a bone here or there to keep the anticipation high.

The thing is, if they don't do it now w/ the launch of the 2G Genesis, they will have to wait until the launch of the 3G.

The Genesis sedan is the face (and presumably the name) of any Hyundai luxury sub-brand, so it would behoove Hyundai to have the launch of the sub-brand w/ the launch of a new Genesis.

That's where I'm going to have to disagree. The 2G Genesis may be the face of Hyundai's supposed sub-brand right now, but that will change with the introduction of the RK sedan and coupe. That will be the volume seller and will be key to launching a successful sub-brand. Think about how the 3 Series and C Class sells in comparison to the 5 Series and E Class. Also, a viable crossover is arguably more important than the Genesis as well. Think about what the Cayenne has done for Porsche and how all of the ultra-lux brands are building crossovers. It's very lucrative and simply can't be ignored if this sub-brand is to succeed.

Not taking sides in this one as I have no opinion on the matter, but I think it would be interesting to see how that worked out. Classically it has always been the cheapest mainstream model that sells the best, but is that because it's cheapest or is that because of the pricepoint itself? Genesis pricing is already in 3/C territory and I don't think the 1/CLA are leading sellers.

I'm also interested to see how Hyundai works out pricing and specs for the RK. I'm guessing they'll have to have some price overlap with the loaded Sonata to make it work and avoid a V8 or 3.8 turbo to avoid hurting Genesis, maybe a turbo 3.3 at 335ish hp that way it can undercut Infiniti and Lexus on price and one-up them on advertised HP and gas mileage. Just thinking out loud.

While the compact RK will be the volume seller, it's the midsize segment that is the juxtaposition of volume and luxury (entry-level doesn't exactly scream luxury).

And what's really the purpose of waiting to launch sub-brand until the RK launches when it's only a 1/5-2 years away?

And in the process, then Hyundai would have to relaunch the 2G Hyundai Genesis as the Genesis [insert nomenclature] - which would just cause confusion.

If Hyundai is going to do a sub-brand, it would be best if they did it w/ the launch of the 2G Genesis - that way, the next Equus and any new/additional models would be branded as such from the start, but as I had stated, I'm afraid that it isn't feasible due to timing.

Same here MSUGenesis.... Nary a bone.

Price is definitely a consideration, but size is also significant. Most people don't want large cars. You don't need to stop with M-B and BMW. Just look how how the IS sell in relation to the GS or how the G37/Q50 sells in relation to the M/Q70(what a stupid naming convention for Infiniti, but I digress). Compact/midsize luxury cars are more appealing to the buying public.

There will definitely be some overlap with the RK, but mostly with Azera and Genesis. If I had to guess, I'd say that the RK would start about $5-7K less than the Genesis. If the 2015 Genesis starts where it is expected to start, around $40K, I could see the RK starting around $33-35K easily. An RK with the driving dynamics and materials of its competitors for that price won't be abke to be kept on the lots. I actually think the RK will have all FI engines, probably a turbo 3.0 pushing about 320hp and the turbo 3.3 they are working on making somewhere around 390hp. I could see the turbo 2.0 sticking around for the base engine making aroud 280hp as well.
