If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

That interior is pretty darn handsome and I would most likely pick that as an option. What are they thinking??

I would not take a comment by a Hyundai guy at a trade show as gospel on final features or pricing. It was also not clear if he was from a dealer or Hyundai Corporate - a Hyundai name tag is not evidence. Trade shows are to generate interest and leads and can be unreliable as to details, especially when staffed by local dealer sales staff who can tend to be focused on selling and not researching.

Understood. But at the same time I'd be pissed if it were true. If Hyundai is listening, I think his is pretty nice interior. Would be hot with any exterior color choice.

^ + 1
It would be my first choice too. Maybe they will just delete the contrast piping.

You have a special talent for commenting without adding anything to the conversation. Your last post lightly reworded mine while quoting mine. This one isn't much better. OF COURSE I was referring to the color combo. Pictures of the interior have been all over this thread and everyone knows generally what it will look like. The availability of this color was discussed pages ago on this thread because it wasn't seen on any of the autoshow cars though it was available on the top KDM model and several people (myself included) said it was their favorite combo. The new news was that I got confirmation from a rep that it's not coming to the US. The rep seemed somewhat frustrated by this and said he didn't understand some choices HMA makes and he gave another example with the power liftgate not being on both the Santa Fe and Santa Fe Sport even though the liftgate itself is very similar. I have 0 interest in either SUV, but his candor made me think more of his statements on the Genesis.
Sorry I didn't understand your meaning, but I don't think it was clear that you were only talking about color. It never occurred to me that anyone would get so obsessed about interior color combinations two months before the US version is even available. My suggestion is to drink a few beers (unless you are in Colorado or Washington state) and just wait until we know for sure what is available in the US.

I generally agree, and I take it all with a grain of salt. The issue is that this was confirmation of a suspicion since none of the autoshow or US spyshots have shown this interior to my knowledge. The guy was from Hyundai corporate because he discussed that a previous show he was at had two models, one on the turntable and one people could get in to. It's also against his own interests to admit Hyundai won't be offering something, so I would doubt an overt lie. He had a list of configurations on an ipad and this was not one of them. Notably it was also missing from a previous carshow display that showed interiors that a member on here had posted.

So obsessed? Go troll someone else.

Get a life. Cars are just hunks of plastic, metal, leather, etc. Not worth peeing in your pants over.

Guy with almost 6k posts on a Hyundai forum who has repeatedly trolled me and others in this thread suggests I'm the one who is obsessed and needs to get a life. Pure. Gold.

I don't have many posts complaining about the color of interiors. I am more concerned about things like whether my brakes work when I put my foot to the brake pedal.

I just saw the new Genesis at the Mpls auto show this past Friday and was not at all impressed. Interior was nice, but nothing jumped out at me with this car. However, on another car class....the K900 was beautiful, and very impressive. Kia is on the right track with the K900.

I didn't take any for the Genesis since there are SO many pics on this thread already. Plus the car is as usual with a new Hyundai release......On a pedestal, so I couldn't even get near it.

Hmm

Your 6k posts are all serious mechanical issues? Is that interest in important things what leads to posts in this thread about such high and lofty things as accusing people of being employees, stating that the '15 Genesis looks like a Ford Fusion, trolling people for quoting including a picture, responding to posts while evidencing that you didn't read them, quoting posts and then replying to them by saying virtually the same exact thing, pretending like getting a kdm at full price and importing it is a serious solution to missing features, etc? And are all the other people who have commented about the lack of this color option also obsessed? Were all the people who commented when it wasn't at the last show obsessed too?

You're a troll and I'm done feeding you. Say all you want about me.

I don't mind if you want to discuss/complain about color options available on the US models, but can't you just wait until Hyundai publishes the final list of choices on their website? Then you can bitch and moan all you want and I won't comment at all.

+1, I like this interior better than the cashmere that I have.

This whole thread has become toxic. Outahere!

Can I get the Hello Kitty Pink interior?

Say what?!?!?!

If that brown interior color scheme isn't offered - then Hyundai USA is making a serious mistake.

Due to keeping the costs down, Hyundai and the other Asian automakers don't offer the customization that the Euros do, but at the same time, they should offer a decent no. of color/paint options if they want to be taken seriously in the luxury market.

The K900 has a nicer interior than the refreshed Equus.

How does the interior of the new Genesis rate against the interior of the K900? (Think the interior of the next gen K900 will be something special.)

What are you talking about? You stated "The thing is that the HTRAC system is a more complicated and heavier AWD system and hence has a harsher fuel penalty than simpler AWD systems and also have to keep in mind what features come standard in AWD for the Genesis which further adds weight."

Your comment was in direct response to people pointing out that BMW and MB only lose about 1 mpg to AWD.

I said nothing about Hyundai being conservative, people always use whole numbers. If you're not familiar with how rounding can cause spread in stats look it up...

The TL-SH has a different engine displacement than the FWD TL. You should really just stop....

This is what I stated.

The thing is that the HTRAC system is a more complicated and heavier AWD system and hence has a harsher fuel penalty than simpler AWD systems and also have to keep in mind what features come standard in AWD for the Genesis which further adds weight.

And the MDX has the same displacement and gets a 2 MPG penalty for SH-AWD whereas the RDX AWD only gets a 1 MPG penalty.

You realize that your entire self quote was in my post, right? Bold part included. I didn't omit it or misrepresent you.

If the auto show cars are an indicator there are no options paired with AWD. Can we drop this? You started off suggesting HTRAC was a particularly heavy system when in fact it's a particularly light system. I have no idea why you want to bring this back up now.

I don't know or claim to know why the '15 AWD would suffer such a large penalty to MPG from being AWD.... but the weight numbers have been shared by Hyundai and they're not it. MT had it at 140 (probably dry and without bolts) and later numbers had it at 165lbs (probably with fluids and on the car). Neither is high, and neither would cause that MPG drop.

Maybe the system has an unusually high internal friction. Maybe they overdrive the rear wheels (in a gearing sense) relative to the front to make it feel more RWD. Maybe they use a different final drive ratio on the AWD, Maybe they use different transmission mapping. Maybe those early numbers aren't even right and they're factory estimates. I don't know, and I'm not getting AWD so it's not really important to me. You said something false and I corrected it with one of the early released weight numbers, someone else chimed in with what is probably a more real-world number that still torpedoed your argument. It should have ended there.

Okay, the Chevy badge is American. Maybe they stick that on at the port in California. The rest is a Holden Commodore, built in Australia.

PMCErnie, quotes mean exactly what you're telling me, that there aren't very many American parts. Unless of course LS3 engines are built in australia along with the gear box, I thought those were American but I am just guessing.

A good chunk of the car is built in Mexico but at least 2/3's are Australian.

I do in fact know what I bought, no denial here, spelling it out as the quotes didn't really help.

For everyone else who is curious, we're talking about the Chevrolet SS, aka Holden Commodore SSV, and if you compare performance numbers really closely, they mirror those of Cadillac CTS VSport except it has a V6 turbo plus 8 speed, that gives you slightly better gas mileage for $25,000 more.

The genesis is currently for sale on Craigslist and eBay.

Darn nice car. If it had AWD option, I would consider it. After this winter in NE US, AWD is a must.
