  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2015 Hyundai Genesis Sedan Spy Photos

I think we know how it is supposed to work, as several new cars are now introducing it and are advertising (such as Hyundai during the Super Bowl). The Infiniti Q50 claims to be first car to hit the market that has this feature. These type systems are made by same companies who supply the ABS brake systems, etc, such as Continental Automotive, the same supplier who provided the 2009-2014 Genesis ABS system (and probably 2015).

I never implied anyone didn't know how the system works. There is a longer video of the system actually working in private testing. What made the video so funny is that when the press was present for a demonstration, it failed miserably.

The '15 has made its way to China.

It may have been staring me in the face and I just missed it, but on the Canadian version in the link what is the difference between "Ultimate" on the 5.0 and "Tech" on the 3.8 besides the engine itself? That's a huge price premium between the two and most of the info coming from Hyundai for the US has suggested the V6 will have all the same options (+AWD). I guess Canada could have some kind of extra-expensive gas guzzler tax affecting the 5.0 price, but then why the difference in trim name?

Likely the engine is responsible for price discrepancy. Interesting to note that fog lights (LED?) not available on lower trim models.

Maybe high pressure nozzles with heated fluid? Also note that features/options on Canadian model may not carry over to US model. Would love to have the 5.0 AWD here but not in the cards.

Under “Visibility and Instruments” in the Ultimate model what is Headlight cleaning.

On other cars in the premium class, it is usually windshield wiper nozzles below the headlights which spray windshield wiper fluid on the lens covers. On BMW's it is part of the "cold weather" package and is implemented every few cycles when one uses the windshield wiper fluid (unless the lights are off). The nozzles can pop up from below the lights where they are hidden

It is however a PITA and not as useful as thought, as it normally shoots windshield wiper fluid over the top of the lights onto the hood, which on a clean car is annoying.

But the difference is $9k! On the 2013 USDM there's only about a $2500 increase for the R-spec over the 3.8 tech, and that similarly includes engine, wheels, and suspension mods.

I'm wondering if the continuous damping control suspension is going to be outlandishly expensive. I think that was one of the few 5.0-only features that could take a real chunk out of the remaining $6500

Edit: Mercedes pricing seems to do something similar. The US and Canada difference for the E250 4Matic is only $6k (and that's comparing RWD US to AWD CA, so more like $4k), while the difference for the E550 4matic is a whopping $14k. I know nothing about Canadian taxing other than the unrelated VAT, but this smells like a luxury or gas guzzler tax getting built into MSRP to me and penalizing the V8's.

I noticed that all three models of the V6 have a 8" lcd screen and the V8 has a 9.2" lcd screen.

What I don't understand on the Hyundai USA site is that it states fog lights not available on 3.8 as an option. Fog lights or LED fog lights?

One thing that seems clear is that the 2015 5.0 will have more than one trim level, or at least have optional equipment. Some items in the current Tech Package (such as 17-speaker Lexicon, DIS controlled Nav, and other features) are no longer standard on the 5.0.

Some of these 5.0 optional items are also optional on the 3.8, but some are unique to the 5.0. The only item I saw that is unique to the 5.0 (and is optional) is the following:
  • Continuous Damping Control suspension

I am not sure. I was just quoting a recent Infiniti Q50 commercial I saw on TV that claimed they are first to hit the market. Several car makers have had adaptive cruise control (including Genesis) but maybe none of those will bring the car to a complete stop?
My 2013 Rspec brings the car to a stop. It's pretty neat to just wait for the car to come to a stop with your feet off the brake pedal. But after seeing that demo and crash I may be more careful with the complete stop.

I do wish that the adaptive cruise control would allow you to turn off the auto braking and just use the cruise control if you so choose to. Maybe they don't allow that because they do not want the crash deal as in the video where someone forgot to turn off the city driving mode?

I'd like to know what the price of a 2015 5.0 Genesis is with only 2 options (HUD & DIS). I could live without the other 5 options on the Ultimate 5.0 Gensis.

I'm not sure, but the DIS may come with the optional 9.2 inch Nav system (on the option list it says Driver information system with Ultimate 9.2 Inch nav system).

But don't the fog lights also seem unique only to 5.0?

I agree with you, but it doesn't sound like Hyundai is going to offer any options. It sounds like it will just be two trims of 5.0, nothing a la carte.
