  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Genesis News?

There's nothing changing from a 15 to a 16 lmao ok whoa fog light they had to make changes to the sonata which is there top seller and give it a face lift. Take it easy guys...

There are small changes - foglights and DRL's to name 2. Hopefully, some build gremlins present in some of the 2015's (sunroof rattles, etc.,) have been worked out too.

yes exactly this. and the fact that my area has a very limited selection of 2015s left, and those ones are covered in grime, scuffed up, and have been sitting on the lot for a year.

You'd be surprised at the age of some of these units. I sell Hyundai's at a dealership in the Kansas City metro area on the Kansas side. Out of the 11 in stock, only 3 are older than 250 days. We received one last week and two are in transit. There are still roughly 200 2015's at port right now and the 2016's WILL NOT be released until the remaining '15's are allocated or picked up by the North American dealerships. If the fog lights are not a matter of upmost importance, then contact your local dealer and ask them to pick out one of these unblemished '15's. Hell, send me a private message and I can tell you within five minutes if the right combo is there.

I can search the inventory available via Hyundai Circle and they do not have the combination I want. Also, for the reasons mentioned above, I am waiting for the 2016. It seems idiotic that the 2015s are just sitting there, along with the 2016s. But what do I know, I don't run a car company.

In any event, if you get any more info about the progress of the 2016s, please do share it on here. Thanks.

I am not 100% sure how Hyundai Motor America works, but for most brands the dealer must buy the car from the distributor (although they may extend credit to the dealership to make the purchase). If no dealer wants one, they just sit there. HMA does not own the dealerships.

To be clear, your angst and obvious pressure to buy ASAP is being held back by fog lights? Are you in a climate area which requires them? I get that they can be useful and do look cool, but for a guy at seeming wits end, there were many 2015 choices which could have ended your pain and lightened your wallet less.

And they can be added to factory spec with OEM parts you can buy on eBay. You can self install, but I had the dealer install the new stalk as I didn't want to screw with the steering wheel airbag. The deals you'll likely get on a 2015 versus a 2016 would likely cover the cost of adding the foglights many times over.

But, if $ are not a big issue for you, I can understand wanting a 2016 - you'll also get the LED DRL's (that can't be added to the 2015's as far as I can tell) and, hopefully, none of the build quality glitches that affect some 2015's (I, for one, will never buy a first model year of a completely new design ever again).

yes i just can't go on without the exact specifications for a car i want to buy

if you're confused, i explained my rationale in the previous posts. i am waiting for the 2016, i'm just in a spot with my current car where it needs new brakes, is about to be out of its extended warranty, and has some other issues. i've been holding off for several months because i do want the 2016, and i'm impatient now because i was told by a couple local dealers they would be out in september, then october, then who knows.

that being said, i'll continue to wait, but i visit this site to find current information. thanks for the help.

What's the combo you are looking for?

I'm also waiting on MY2016 builds to arrive and won't be swayed by great deals on existing 2015's. It is a combination of factors including the usual "don't buy a first year production run" mentality. The subtle changes, potential fixes for various glitches and warranty boost on the infotainment all come into play for me.

The 2016 I end up buying may be a lemon law candidate and make my life miserable, but I'll take those chances to get what I want.

So all you other folks please ignore what I wrote above and keep on buying up the remaining 2015's at great prices so I can get my car. :)

...can't add the LED DRL's or the new 5 year/60K warranty on the electronics, though.

poverty pack?

adding fog lights wouldn't address the other issues that have been mentioned several times. i feel like i'm arguing about my preference for a car i am buying...

You don't need to justify your preferences to anyone. Buy what you like. I do get your frustration on timing. I too was originally planning to wait until 2016 but doing so would have cost me a couple of grand, so I decided not to wait.

I doubt the sunroof rattle will ever be fixed iv had it in my 2013 optima just a slight problem with kia/hyundai but it's better in my genesis then the optima

This. I am also gonna wire it straight to the accessory circuit under the hood. No need to stalk & switch it. Call it DRL :)

You can with the Platinum extended warranty. :) That and a set of VLED 1157's and you have all you want - while saving thousands.

Same for me here. Plus I got a CPO with under 10k on it - and was able to get into an Ultimate for thousands less than what a Signature would have cost me new. I can live with that. :)

I just went to the dealer, where I bought my '15, for an oil change, picked up a 2016 brochure and my sales guy came by. I asked him about the timing on the 2016 (he has no reason to mislead me since I'm not in the market for a couple of years) and he said they really have no idea, but likely December as it will take them that long to clear out current inventory as well as there are 2015's still in transit.

I asked about the changes and he said minimal - mentioned the DRL's and warranty and he said that's about it. Also said you can get an extended warranty on the electronics for just a few hundred bucks, so hardly a deal-breaker.

He also said that unlike the all-new '16 Tucson which greatly increased Tucson sales, there isn't anything about the 2016 Genesis that going to move the sales needle, as there really isn't anything new to draw additional traffic vs. the '15, so no rush to get them to the showroom.

He also reminded me that my 2015 will get a brand new set of tires when the OEM's hit 40-50k miles thanks to the Hyundai offer (as mine will within the deadline), worth about $1,200. 2016 buyers will be buying their own replacement tires at ~40-50k.

As for problems, this is my second trip to the dealer - oil changes and tire rotations. Not another fix or adjustment needed. YMMV.

I would not take that one for gospel until I saw the contract. Maybe that is offered by your dealer, and not a Hyundai extended warranty?
