  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2016 Genesis News?

Seems sales are slower than anticipated with a backup at port and the addition of fog lights a much larger desire than Hyundai marketing planned on. They would have been wiser to somehow offer an retro upgrade to fog and LED DRL's on the 2015's and maybe see less '15's on the lot right now.

That would be HMA admitting to a marketing blunder... and the 15 sold just fine. Gotta have something in the tank for 16, and fogs is it. You always have the after market.

Exactly. Everyone from Hyundai that I've talked to has been like "hey, you sure you don't want a 2015 instead?" No, the reason I'm waiting is the same reason people haven't bought them up yet.

I feel like they should just drop the prices, cut their losses, and move on to the 2016s. The Genesis and Azera are the only cars in their lineup still on the 2015s.

Fogs would be easy - the main harness is present. I'm puzzled as to why it's not officially available as a dealer installed option for the 2015's? They'd make $ with it!

LED DRLs is not easy - would require electronic module and harness replacements, if even possible.

because dealers would lose 16 sales.

Not at all accurate. We can get a hold of just about anything we want in a 2015 with the exception of the Veloster. Santa Fe's and Tucsons are getting pretty scarce as well.

I didn't say you couldn't get 2015s, I'm saying the 2016s are available and advertised as the current model for all cars except the Genesis and Azera.

Sounds like you are splitting hairs a bit. Hyundai might be advertising the majority of our lineup with the 2016's but the only ones we are selling with any frequency are the Santa Fe's, Elantras, and the redesigned Tucson.

Honestly, complaining endlessly about the 2016 stock will get you nowhere. What you need to do is get in tight with a knowledgeable and aggressive sales person in your area and let him scout for you. If he's good then he'll let you know the moment they start hitting the rail-head.

sounds like you're splitting hairs. i made a general statement, and you tried to argue some detail aside from my point.

and i have a contact at each of 3 local dealerships, and two in corporate, plus this site. i think i'm good when they become available. and until then, at least i can endlessly complain!

email response from hyundai

Thank you for contacting the Genesis Customer Care Center. We appreciate your inquirty about Apple applications and services for your 2015 Genesis. We are looking forward to offering the full functionality of the Apple Car Play and the Bluelink for the Apple Watch.

At present time Apple is still working on the Apple Car Play functionality. We do know there is ongoing testing at present time and we may roll that application out to a lower trim line in order to ensure full functionality of the application first. Hyundai wants to be certain that our Premium customers do not needlessly experience a loss of time or needless frustration before offering for the Premium line of Hyundai Genesis and Hyundai Equus. We are hopeful the application is rolled out shortly but we do not have a definite timeline.

When the Apple Car Play does go live expect to find the application available in your 2015 Genesis entertainment center under downloads or applications available for download.

Can you kindly let us know whom at HMA signed this email indicating that Apple CarPlay will be available in the 2015 Genesis when CarPlay is released? I have received an email from HMA when I ask about CarPlay in the 2015 that says we do not comment on future product releases. If I knew for sure that CarPlay is going to be in the 2015 eventually I would buy a 2015 today. My local dealer tells me don't expect it in the 2015 and if anyone would have an incentive to move 2015s it most certainly would be the dealer.

I received the following email today:

Thank you for contacting the Genesis Customer Care Center. We appreciate the opportunity to assist you with your inquiry on Apple CarPlay and the 2015/2016 Genesis.

At this time, Apple CarPlay has not been released for any of the Hyundai model lines. Currently, the only plans for Apple CarPlay release is for the 2015 Sonata. This will be released for the 2015 model year Sonata vehicles with Navigation systems.

As Apple CarPlay is currently only being planned for the 2015 Sonata, we do not have any information on plans for other models or model years. We do not know if the 2015 nor the 2016 Genesis will be compatible with Apple CarPlay. We apologize for any dissatisfaction this may cause.

As of this moment, we currently are not aware of a release date for the 2016 Genesis. We receive release information at the same time it is released to the general public. There are two sites that you can monitor for up to date release information. Hyundainews.com and hyundaiproductinformation.com are two wonderful resources to view the various Hyundai model lines and any updated information on design specs, release dates and pricing. We apologize for any inconvenience this may cause.

We have documented your comments and created case number xxxxxxx. If you have any additional questions that we can assist with, please reach out to us again at any time and reference your case number above. We can be reached by calling our toll-free customer service number (877) 378-8727.

Here's some word from the horse's mouth - 2016's arriving in November:

http://goo.gl/lpvrhh

Some lighting changes, 5.0 only available in ultimate trim...

Thank you! That is what I was waiting for: some acknowledgement from Hyundai that they are actually putting out a 2016 Genesis ;-)

May not be any new info, but it's good to actually see it officially.

I also saw this:
http://www.hyundainews.com/us/en/download/44169/file/pdf
Pricing info. Looks like the base went up 750, but the signature package went down 100
also Montecito Blue appears to be on its way out.

So much for the so-called "fastest color" :) - must not appeal to the masses or else they would not cancel it? Marrakesh Beige is history too!

Interesting that it appears the 5.0 loses the power rear sunshade and manual side shades - I wonder why?

that is bizarre. i think i'd rather have those than a gas guzzling V8

Losing the sunshades on the 5.0 makes no sense. They are included in the Signature version. I use my rear sunshade all the time.

I already told you the 2016 is a CDN 2015 with all the recalls done didn't I? :D 2nd gen Genesis in Canada never got the rear sunshade, have the led daytime lights and the fog lights. ;)

They are in this to make money, if price remains the same they remove items which will not effect the vast majority. I can see why they removed beige and montecito, back to basics like Toyota and several others. Will get rather boring with what seems to be the trend of red, white, black and silver/gray cars.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
It looks like the price of the 5.0 with Ultimate package, which is the only way it comes now, went down $900. $54,750 to $53,850.
