  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

2017/2018 radio swap in 2016 ultimate?

yup and as I mentioned since Covid, the ransomware attacks have increased like 6000% according to the FBI investigators that I was working with. old windows systems are the primary targets. as my employer found out. I was telling them for a year this needed to be done, but like normal executive bonuses took precedence.

now they have no choice, amazing how all of a sudden they are listening and my budget to get it done is now “open“ as someone else (insurance) is paying for it. 🤦‍♂️
Such is management everywhere!

This radio is surprisingly unbrickable. I'm sure if I could figure out how to flash the firmware I could brick it, but the OS is all software and totally recoverable just by going back to the last good image :D

The "dead" radios that crop up from time to time are likely just failed Micron SSDs.
It’s all Hyundai / Genesis fault

I mean so many cars companies offers the AA/CP for those who have 2015+ models

It’s shame that the 8 inch hardware capable to run AA/CP and the 9.2inch isn’t

Yeah... It's paying extra to subjectively get less, but that horse has been beat to death here. Others in the forum had made some good progress to figure out that the newer software w/ AA/CP will boot on the older hardware, but it will not produce sound because there's some software "hooks" that look for the later model amp...

I'm sure if given the time & resources, someone could figure it out... Hacking the OS doesn't raise any legal hurdles because it's based on old Open Source smartphone code. It is sort of a glaring omission, since the rest of the car is such a complete package...

so gentlemen what do we reach so far ?

am I missed something here ?

The "often rumored" Dealer mode - never figured out how to get into it!
do you have the ultimate version (9.2) inch screen ?

Is there any goodies we can use in the engineering screen, ? I have the Ultimate
Not really. On page 2 of this thread i went into it when we initially started the project.. codes can be found there as well

I thought that the update might help sense some of the features doesn’t required extra hardware in order to work 2C30B146-130D-439B-B564-580DE7D63869.webp
But that might cost you your maps
(even the maps is piece of trash 😅 , it’s from 2016 and the dealer doesn’t offer any updates)

So here is what I got

I know that the sound problem still there but Idk if I get the update steps right

Step 1. Download the image file

Step 2. Either remove your SD from your Genesis and connect it to the PC or Buy a new SD card and connect it to your PC (on our case the SD card capacity is not enough)

Step 3. Download Win32 Disk Imager (google search)

Step 4. Open Win 32 Disk Imager

Step 5. Click the blue folder icon and navigate to your image file you downloaded in step 1

Step 6. make sure you have selected your SD card in the section called "device"

Step 7. Click "Write"

Step 8. Insert SD card

Step 9. Go into settings find where it says update

It seems like the (MOST AMP) option is responsible for playing the sound in the car

MOST AMP.MOV

What do you guys think 🤔
