  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

It was suggested that I should start a new thread for this.

The aluminum skuff plates (or kick plates) on the door sills are great, but when I saw the ones on the V8... jealous & lust are the right words.

You can get them from KAI-
http://www.koreanautoimports.com/store/index.php?cPath=31_237_239
They are $189 for both LH/RH front replacements. It is a GREAT price. I paid WAY more than that for mine from my dealer. KAI had them on their site, but they were not actually available until today. But they are now available for shippment from the great guys at KAI.

Installation-
Super simple- Using a flat screwdriver (always suggest wrapping the screwdriver in electrical tape to keep marking down), simply pry out the existing plates slowly. They'll come out with very little pressure. You'll find the V6 already has the electrical connector you need taped to the wiring harness. Simply plug it into the new LED skuff plate, and 'pop' it back in place. Both doors took me 6min. total.

I've done this on the front doors. I now have the dealer ordering the ones for the back doors. I haven't popped off the aluminum back door plates to verify, but I'm 99% sure the wiring will be there also. KAI doesn't yet offer the back door plates, but Belky & James tell me they will if there is demand (not sure how to tell them there is demand). I'll certainly post when I put on the back door plates.

When you look at the pics, the file names will help to identify what you're looking at. Have FUN!!!

Awesome! Thanks for posting.

Hopefully Santa will get me these and the chrome door rub strips. :)

Brilliant! Thanks for posting Phil! :D

great pics Phil. This is such an easy mod that has such a big impact. Talk about bang for the buck

I am sure there will be an interest. I know I would definately purchase a set. Maybe I will take out the back seat plates and see if there is a harness back there.

Just checked and the wiring is also in the back seat sill plates, just like the front. Maybe we can start a list of members who would definately be interested and see if we can forward that to KAI.

Definitely interested. I will be ordering a set of front scuff plates this weekend!

Rich- I did the same. Yes, the wiring is in the back doors. I also swapped out some of the other incandescent lights this weekend. I'll start another thread on those with some pics and bulb info.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Pardon for being stupid on this, but is the part you purchase the chrome piece that says Genesis, or is the whole long black plastic thing you pry off with the screwdriver?

It is the whole thing, both the black plastic and the polished metal insert that says genesis, but the word genesis lights up blue

And they come in two colors. My interior is cashmere (beige), and the door sills are a dark brown, not black - be careful when you order. I'm hoping I got it right...

I just received confirmation from KAI of my order for the front set:

"Please note we will have the matching rear LED door sills available in the next 10-14 days. James, KAI"

Cool!

Congrats! James is a great guy. Mine are due in from my dealer in 7 days.

I just received our set from KAI, unfortunately they are both for the passenger side. They were marked RH and LH but when looking at them they are identical. I just sent an email to KAI and I am sure they will exchange the incorrect one but I dont understand why the packaging from the factory is even marked wrong. Also sucks that I cant install them right away:(

For all--- I just PM'd Rich to say that mine were fine, but I got them from the dealer, not KAI (at a much highr cost unfortunately). James & Belky are great guys and I know they'll make it good ASAP.

I also got my rear skuff plates in from the dealer and installed this week,

Here's a night pic (from the Album area) that shows the results of the front skuff plates, under door and under dash light changes--

More images in the Album area!

Awww, nuts. I received mine yesterday from KAI, and hadn't opened the box yet. Then I read GS300rich's post, and yes, KAI sent me two RH (passenger-side) units. They were both marked RH, so just poor quality control in the packing department. :(
