No, they are not defective. The Dunlops received equally bad reviews at Tirerack.com.So I just got mine 4.6 White/saddle on Friday. The tires didn't bother me that much, but reading all negative feedback I'm thinking about changing them right away. also, just was wandering, is it possible that those Dunlops in 2009-2010 were just defective?![]()
Manufacturers select OEM tires for a lot of reasons, which may be substantially different than the criteria we would use when selecting a tire. I recently replaced my Dunlops at about 22K due to some irregular tire wear (probably not completely the fault of Dunlops), and the Michelin Primacy XMV4's I have now are much better (in particular, my new tires are much smoother), but I don't think the Dunlops are so bad that I would replace them on a brand new car (unless I got something for the old ones). One of the main complaints is how fast they wear, and that is not a concern for you at this point.
