In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. Anybody buy new 18" tires for their Genesis Sedan yet?

For those in the Washington, DC area, if you are looking for the Continental Conti Extreme DWS tires, reach out to Radial Tire (located at 9101 Brookville Road, Silver Spring, MD 20910-1809). These guys carry 'em and have a ton of tires of all types in inventory for good prices (and they will price match).

Hi MHT, have you owned a set of of the Contis prior? I'd be interested in hearing your thoughts of the Energy Saver vs. the Contis.

I had a set of Continental Conti Contact Extreme DWS and Put 4700 miles on them. I did not like the way they handled in the snow. A tire dealer talked me into letting them sype them for better snow traction. They failed to tell me they had factory sypes which meant they doubled syped them. After the sype I notice tire noise that I had not notice before and if there was water on the roads the noise was worse. They said it was normal and nothing to do with the sype. Since the Continental Conti Contact Extreme 235-50-18 97W was on back order they compensated for my tires.

I like the Michelin Energy Saver A/S better than I did the Continental.
I like the way the Michelins ride, ease of steering, they absorb road imperfection a little better and they are V rated opposed to the Continental W speed rating.
The gas milage is slightly better with the Michelins. The Michelin has very little road noise on most surfaces. You also get a 30 day satisfaction with the Michelin so if you did not like them you could always return them and get the Continental just check with the tire dealer and make sure. I do not think you could go wrong with either tire. Tire grip of both are equal to if not better than the Dunlop's.

Hmm... according to Tirerack, the Conti ExtremeContact DWS is an Ultra High performance All-Season tire as well.

You are correct I made a mistake.

My observation is that the tires do not really affect the suspension issues, for those who have issues, but if you could imagine hitting the bottom of a dip in V as opposed to a U. The difference in hitting the ground with a metal hammer or a rubber hammer. The disconnect I was feeling with Dunlops is now gone.

Very well said, that and road noise is why I gave up the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S Y speed rated directional tire and went with the Michelin Energy Saver A/S V speed rated tire.

Sounds very promising. Obviously having just got the Contis, I won't be getting new tires anytime soon, but I will definitely give the Michellins a whirl for the next change.

No, I was correct the Continental Extreme DWS is an Ultra High Performance Tire. It is listed so on the Tire rack sight. One of the things that impressed me about the tire was even with it's W speed rating it felt more like a Grand Touring Tire than an Ultra High Performance Tire.

I see a lot of posts on here about replacement tires being quieter, smoother, etc. But I don't see anybody mention how the grip is. I personally am impressed by the grip the Dunlops afford in dry, and even in wet weather (definitely discounting snow). How do these replacement tires stack up in that regard?

On our previous car, an Acura, we were on our third set of Bridgestone Serenity tires. we kept buying that tire because of wet weather performance and the mileage that we got on them. When we got our 2011 4.6 after about a week my wife said that the Genesis did not stick to the road very well in rain compared to the Acura. It does now with the Bridgestone turanza Serenity tires. Check Tire Rack Ratings, the Dunlop is near the bottom or dead last in traction in rain. The Dunlop is very bad regarding Hydroplaning.

Here is link that shows where the Dunlop is in wet traction http://www.tirerack.com/tires/surveyresults/surveydisplay.jsp?type=UHPAS&VT=null&sortValue=4

The reason I bought those Bridgestones is that I had a set on BMW 740il and loved them! Genny is replacement for 7 so it was a no brainer.

Anybody has Any experience with the Pirelli P Zero Nero ? thanks

Had a nail too far on the side tread of one of my Dunflops and it couldn't be patched, but fortunately the road hazard covered a new tire and the shop didn't have any Dunlops so I chose the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity. I am 'OCD' about having one new tire and 3 old ones, so like many others I dumped the Dunflops and had 3 more Bridgestone Turanza Serenity's installed. They grip really well, unfortunately I've only had the oportunity to try them out on dry pavement, as we are in the midst of a drought. The ride feels better than the Dunlops and the road noise is less as well. Only had 16,5 on the Dunlops but boy were they worn. Didn't get the great deal some others report.. $788 tax, hazard..

Just to clarify, the Bridgestones were $860 total including road force balancing, mounting, and tax. Dealer allowed me $300 on Dunlops with 50 miles on them so bottom line was $560.

I had 300 miles on my Dunlop's and the tire dealer gave me $460 for them towards the purchase of a set of New Continental Extreme DWS so with mounting and taxes the price of the Continental's was $280.00.

I had 1300 miles on the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S I only got $200.00 for them towards the purchase of the Michelin Energy Saver A/S so with mounting and taxes the price of the New Michelin Energy Saver A/S was $642.00.

MHT- Now that is a deal. I think the MSRP for the Dunlop is around $600 so you did extremely well. My dealer stated that he would sell my tires for $400 and supposedly gave me the "sale price" on Bridgestones. You "done" good.

Just replaced my Dunlops with new Pirelli P-Zero Neros and like them better. They are very quiet and ride smoother than the Dunlops ever did. The grip is excellent, wet or dry. The Dunlops had 24K on them and would have gone another thousand, but I was tired of the bad ride and they were getting noisier.

Just replaced my Dunlops with the new Falken Azenis TP722, which is Falken's first ultra high performmance all season tire. I was told by the Manager at Discount Tire that this was Falken's attempt to level the playing field with the Conti Extreme Contact DWS and that they had succeeded. They cost about $100 less but have a 60,000 mile treadlife instead of Conti's 50,000. Anything is an improvement over the Duncraps but so far I've been very pleased.

I just placed my order for the Michelin Energy Saver A/S via America's Tire, unfortunately are on backorder and have to be delivered from "Texas"????

I have about 700 miles on my Michelin Energy Saver A/S and I am very pleased with the tires. As I have said before IMO the ride is so much better than the ride I got with the OEM Dunlop's,Continental Extreme DWS and Michelin Pilot Sport Plus A/S. These tires grip the road well and I just like the way the car steers and how the tires absorb road imperfections.
I do not think you will be disappointed and you do get a 30 day satisfaction guarantee. Please post back and let me know how you like the tires.
It took no or very few weights to balance my tires and I have no tracking problems as tires track straight. Of all the All Season V rated tires 235-50-18, at tire rack this is the better rated tire.

Will do. They are scheduled to arrive in Portland on Friday, so I should be able to report over the weekend.

Note: I purchased these based on your experience with the Conti's and the Pliot Sports. This is also my first set of Michelins...evah!!

Did you get your tires?

So I just got mine 4.6 White/saddle on Friday. The tires didn't bother me that much, but reading all negative feedback I'm thinking about changing them right away. also, just was wandering, is it possible that those Dunlops in 2009-2010 were just defective? :)
