Wow! I am a very new poster here and I can't believe the rudeness! I was a moderator years ago on another very different board. I would not have allowed this kind of thing to continue. There are ways of disagreeing without being disagreeable.
I have no problems with the suspension on my 2009 Genesis. Yes, the ride is firmer than the Buick I traded in but I expected that. On the other hand, I have a better feel for the road in my present car.
Earlier this year I spotted two Genesis on the roads of Ottawa. Since I bought my own two weeks ago, I have not seen any. What I don't understand is not seeing any TV ads for the Genesis. I would have thought that advertising a car that has won around 30 awards this year would be easy. It practically sells itself! Unless and until people are aware that the Genesis exists, they are not going to buy it.
as for the OP, i am not concerned. i have 2 standing offers to purchase my genny when it comes off lease, as i will more than likely be looking into a 2011/2012 model.
As far as the "rudeness", I can understand your reaction as a new poster but sometimes you need a bit of history to put things into perspective.
As already noted, all of the above is untrue. Actually, after I purchased it from the dealer with about 20 miles on the OD, no one has driven my car other than me. So I assume in addition to confusing me with Doug on the issue of the test drive by BacktoHyundaibychoice, you have also attributed to me everything Doug posted in this forum. That is a very big mistake. You seem always to be concerned about the new posters on here Mark and you say that you repeat yourself about suspension for their sake......... well for their sake lets repeat something else they may not know.............
The truth is............ someone in this forum ( I don't remember who) drove your car Mark....... and they reported that you were full of CRAP regarding the ride of your car........ they even reported that although they were happy with the ride of their Genesis... that they were even happier with the ride of YOUR Genesis....... THIS is the truth that I choose to believe.......
Tying this into the topic at hand......... whatever you may say about Genesis sales....... I find irrelevant........ there are many reasons for sales to slow........ for you to comment about sales slowing because of the suspension like its a matter of fact reminds me of the BULLIES I knew in grade school........
I like being one of the few to drive a Genesis also....the exclusivity is definately part of the fun. Considering there are about 250,000,000 cars on the road in the US, and maybe around 25,000 Genesis's, should be rare to spot one for a while to come.
While I think the Genesis is a better car overall than the TL, I would not say "that sales of cars have nothing to do with the quality of the car....." if both cars are in the same price range. I think there usually is some relationship between the two, if you take into account the year sold, size of the car, features, and the price of the car. The Model T sold in the millions, but obviously that was a long time ago. At the time, it was the best car for the money. The original poster was questioning why sales of Genesis were below that of TL implying that people may find TL to be a better car........
The reason for posting this list is to show that sales of cars have nothing to do with the quality of the car.....
You are a Pathetic Man Mark...... Do you work at Mercedes per chance?
Kaberle:
I'd be the last person to defend Mark, but in fairness...
Your memory of the "vehicle swap" is exactly right except for one detail:
I drove Doug's car, not Mark's.
That said, I hope the mods take your total contributions into account before bouncing you because of one day of frustration. It's not my board but I understand.

No, I don't work for Mercedes. I have nothing to do with the auto industry. Do you?
I am not trying to tear anyone down, nor am I hiding behind Doug. It seems to me you are trying to tear me down, but that's just my opinion.I messed up on the test drive with Doug you are right.... The point is the same though......... I will say it again though until I am booted (speaking up for what is right is not a bad thing)....... your points are pathetic and certainly not based on facts most of the time....... and I might point out that you are in full agreement with Doug most of the time regarding suspension so don't try to hide behind him.........
I have received 12 private messages so far and counting from members of this forum who support what I have said on this thread. I am simply voicing what a lot of people are thinking in a rude manner so as not to play into your smooth way of tearing people down.... if you want to tear someone down do not hide behind politeness is what I say........... just do it........
I read other forums and none of the ones I read are hyjacked by someone like you MARK.
Looks like the Genesis has had some sort of impact on the Infiniti M class.
Sales number for sept and YTD 2009 ON THE "M"
M 447 1,077 -58.5 6,741 12,045 -44.0
The Genesis is a more fairer comparison to the M as for size. You do have to go back to the "G series" and acura for comparible pricing.
I think you have to keep in mind that the TL is made by a company that has already been established in the minds of many as a luxury company. The fact that the Genesis sold even half as many when it's in it's first year and Hyundai didn't bother with all the "Luxury" branding should probably make Acura concerned. Some people will simply not buy a Hyundai because of the dealer experience alone. I'm lucky that my dealer treats me great, whether I'm buying my Genesis or my daughters Elantra, but this doesn't seem to be a universal experience. Actually, it appears many people experience the opposite, especially compared to the "luxury" experience.
It is certainly good to know who thinks himself as the purveyor of the truth. How about if we want to know the "truth" we'll ask for it? And by the way, truth is not spelled suspension!
Another quote from you (Mark) on this same thread: "I am quite sure that the news of the improved 2010 suspension is a big part of the slow Sept sales. Hyundai originally included the suspension changes in a web page announcing the 2010 sedan, but removed mention of suspension changes a few days later (probably after dealers complained to HMA)."
Mark, your opinion of what is a big part of slow Sept. sales is worth little to nothing. You have no basis in facts that could possibly lead a reasonably logical person to that conclusion.
It is my opinion that you REALLY need to get a life and stop beating this issue any further into the ground. Your obsession with this issue certainly must be unhealthy. And that IS the truth.
Maybe they are reading about the ride of the 2009 sedan?
Several people seem to agree with the above post, so I feel obligated to defend my position. Certainly the issue of the 2009 suspension is subjective, but it was changed by Hyundai for 2010 and that has caused some people to wait for the 2010's. Here is a partial quote from one such person made just today:...

Here is a link to the above post:Hello all, been lurking for a few months and this is my first post. I am happy to say that my wife and I have a 2010 Platinum 4.6 Tech sitting in the garage. We looked at numerous sedans and crossovers during the qwest and the Genesis was the clear winner in my mind.
Looks like it is going to take a while to figure out all the gizmos on this beast.
We never drove the 09's because of the suspension tightness that may or may not be there. All I can say is the 2010 has a nice ride in my opinion. We test drove it down the worst road here with all kinds of cracks in the asphalt and had no issues.
....
Thanks.....Grant![]()
Now that the suspension has been improved for 2010, I see a very bright future for the Genesis sedan and for Hyundai as an automaker. I am sure that should make most of us feel upbeat about the Hyundai brand, and maybe we can all put the negativity behind us and we can bury the hatchets (as soon as I have them surgically removed from my back).
