  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Do you prefer the 2015+ Genesis over the previous generation?

I wonder if it has to do with cross-brand styling...hmmmm..

Meanwhile, on dealer lots...

Enjoy your klingon forehead cruiser. I'll enjoy my 2015 catfish that, styling opinions aside, is a much improved car over the G1... (not suggesting folks should be unhappy with or ditch their perfectly good G1's, but time marches forward and things get better - I look forward to a G3 at some point)

lol this is a fun thread.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!
Good thing you only need to worry about the back! I have to look back and see a gaping hole!
I don't worry at all - I never even notice the Gen 1's on the road...

I understood you comparing the Gen1 to any Gen2, not Nikgens specific car.

The point is the Gen1 is not faster than a Gen2, despite what people may think with the hp rating and weight increase.

Owners in the thread in the 2009-2014 subforum are convinced the previous Gen is quicker, in fact its listed as one of the reasons they like it better.

Let's be honest, in todays age a 5 second 0-60 time is not blistering fast.

They aren't gone that fast.

And I agree Nikgen, after 6 years they aren't as enticing as they once were. Especially with the new "catfish"on the road.

Um, he drives a 3.8...
I've read the magazines, too. ;) Motortrend saw a 5.1 13.5, in one of them :p

What can I say, I value a heated steering and rear seats, AWD and headlight washers more than acceleration... Guilty as charged. When I really want to experience butt-kicking acceleration, I go to the track and drive my wife's uncle's Viper GT-S or my friend's R8. In daily driving, the V6 does just fine for me...

We'll be yawning at our "catfish" in 6 years too! Change is usually good!

My uncle's wife's cousin's mailman has some quick rides, too.
You got me on the heated steering wheel and headlight washers. Trinkets I don't have but would most certainly put in my "mod list".
I was not commenting on speed - I wouldn't notice it if it was parked next to me.
Now I know where my door dings came from.

The quotes with his name as the author would dictate otherwise. :)

Depends on which magazine/webpage.wiki/resource you cite to back your points.

Just fastER, right? (Reminder: look where the comment was directed. The quoted name will imply intent)

I have the 5.0 and it is great for daily driving but by no means a fast car by todays standards.

When I want to go fast I think an 850hp 3400 pound car is much better :-)

thanks for explaining how the quote feature works. unfortunately there was some ambiguity in your response.

no matter what resource you site, the variations are at best a second apart for both generations. Given that one is not substantially faster than the other I think this would be a draw at best for both cars. I'll be clear... I am quite sure the two cars are evenly matched with respect to speed, despite the increased weight and gills of the G2.

I'd love to line up with you on a drag strip. You would be surprised.

What did Road and Track say those run? ;)

look it up. is the difference enough for you to say that the Gen1 is without a doubt faster in the 0-60 or 1/4?

I meant the GT500...

You already looked up the other two for me, so I figured you already had the magazine out!

1 second on a strip is BUS lengths. ;)
