Would it be a fair argument to say that a JB4 tune would be harder on the car because it needs to push more boost to get the same performance?

In my opinion yes I think that would be an accurate statement. But if the jb4 breaks something two min and there is no sign it was ever there. With all these ecu tunes there is evidence that the car isn’t running the stock map. That’s my mindset on the issue for doing it

Driving down the blvd every morning at 4am lol. I hit every red light between serene and sunset for some dumb reason. So I give her a full send each time haha

Always man. I start my car like 8 min before I walk out so it gets close to all the way warm before I come out. Then usually be the time I hit pebble it’s ready to rock. I have to be at the airforce base 60 mile north on the 95 at 6am so I gotta leave early to go to the shop and get my work truck warmed up. When ever I do a lot of launches or try to run a 1/4 mile I head south to my own lil Mexico that I doubt ever gets used so that kinda stuff I do try and get away from people or possibilities of people lol

I really don't think so. The aftermarket BOV seems to cause more tuning problems than what it supposedly solves. From what I can tell, the OEM diverter valves seem to be just fine, that is, they are not limiting the speed of shifts or the power down low; rather, it's how the ECU controls them that makes the real differences. IMO, buying BOV's is a waste of money on our platforms. Save it for your tune!

It's a good question. I would argue that it would be the other way around. I would think that the JB4 is harder on the car/engine because it makes the ECU think that it can advance the timing moreso than it should for a given boost level (ie the ECU thinks it's at 13 psi when it's really at 17 psi, so the timing is more aggressive and thus less safe), so the ECU is left to rely solely on the knock sensors to keep things safe, rather than it being able to be fully aware of all the operating conditions the engine is dealing with. Whereas a flash tune would be able to run more boost without having to only rely on the knock sensors to avoid detonation.

Think about it this way: our engines use the speed density calculation to figure out intake flow. This means that the ECU relies on the IAT sensor and MAP sensor to make calculations as to how much air it thinks the engine is taking in. With a piggyback, like the JB4, at least one of those sensor inputs is skewed (ie MAP, but JB4 can also spoof IAT in certain cases), so the ECU isn't getting accurate info as to how much air is going into the engine. The JB4 can sort of account for this in its own way with its algorithms, but it's not the same (or, arguably, as safe) as how the ECU does it on its own. Remember that we don't know exactly how the ECU factors in intake and exhaust valve timing adjustments to not only make power, but also to keep things safe. I think it's safe to say that intake flow, temperature & volume play a very big role in said calculations.

That said, the JB4 would probably run less boost for a given HP number vs a similar ECU flash, albeit with much less safety buffers and a more volatile combustion chamber environment. Maybe. But the more I think about it, you might actually be exactly right... Maybe it has to cram more air in because the ECU thinks it doesn't need to adjust the intake/exhaust valve timing as aggressively to make more power... Hmmm...

I have a feeling he won’t get any g70 ecus to tune. Just like the g70 the owners are more classy than the stinger counterpart

Yes sir. I’m going to assume other stage 2 tune will be evenly priced. Mostly since this price is already out and they will probably under cut him but not by much. But the customer service behind it will be well worth it.

I will say tho to bad dme tuning doesn’t have anything for our platform

Spoke to Tork, and I'm not gonna lie - their Stage 2 tune is very tempting.

- 92 octane will work perfectly.
- Faster shifts, torque limits raised (much harder launches)
- Plugs do not need to be regapped so small, but does need a colder plug
- Can send the ECU back for revisions or flash back to stock
- No modifications to knock sensor algorithm, so you still have OEM safeguards in place

They said they still need a few more weeks for the general sale. Pre-orders are all done, they'll be doing some dyno's over the next few weeks.

The biggest appeal for me is Tonkabob who has been a beta tester, and has almost 400 logged launches using a variation of their tune, along with several 1/4 mile runs, and tons of aggressive driving, and his AWD Stinger is still running super strong, and hella fast.

Anyway, I've since crossed PRESSERTech off my list because of how they failed to figure out Arnie War's Stinger going into limp mode, despite him having the same bolt ons as most other G70 and Stinger owners, and then they blamed it on his previous piggy back....

So now it's a waiting game between Tork and Kagan Tuned for me. Kagan has become less responsive to my questions lately, as I assume he's been very busy lately. Hopefully he'll get back to me soon to answer my questions about his Stage 1.5 tune.

His back end flash looked super promising to help the piggy back community but at that point you might as well go full tune since a flash is a flash haha

I don't know... I vaguely remember seeing something like that on the Stinger forum, but I'm not sure. He just told me that this tune was for pump gas only.

I will say 20 psi on pump gas would be super nice haha. I’ve seen tonka runs e15 every now and then but when it’s not needed that is a huge benefit. If I ever did it I might spend the money for a second ecu so I have a “stock” one lol
