  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Right there with you; except no dealer close by has the trim/color I want, and my local dealer seems too lazy to locate one for me. Right now I'm in touch with Pugi Genesis in IL, which at over 1,500 miles away, is the closest dealer that has exactly what I want. They're telling me I can buy it directly from them and they'll ship it to me, without even bothering with my local dealer. So far it actually sounds pretty reasonable. Honestly, of he gives me a decent price (not expecting anything groundbreaking) then I might just do it...

Oh you gotta be f*cking kidding me. Someone bought the car from right under me while I was negotiating with the salesman.

Todd,

I apologize, but the G70 in silver/black was just sold to a local customer. I will however keep you on our list and apprise you if we have a G70 in the the same color combination come in.

Sorry to hear that! Any 3.3T Sport AWD in Chicagoland won't be on the lot for more than a couple days.

That is too bad man. Maybe go back to the Vancouver dealer and talk to the GM and see if they can get you a car on their next allocation. Maybe if you let them know that is possible they will be more willing to do it. Who knows, you may get lucky and Bend will get in what you are looking for.

A buddy of mine bought a couple cars across the country. First one was in an open carrier (or whatever it is called) and showed up with damage that no one would claim responsibility for, so he was stuck with the repair. The second time he paid for a closed carrier and the car came in fine. The catch with that one was he paid $1500 for shipping it and that was 10 years ago (or whenever they were selling Pontiac G8s new).

Because of his experiences, I'll just wait until the PNW dealers get their shit together.

I feel for you but the upside is this is exactly how you get a sense of where the market price is for the car. Whatever you were negotiating for, I'm sure your salesman told the other salesman (or the manager) what you were offering, and I'll bet you got outbid, if only by a few hundred bucks.

There'll be another car soon I'm sure. Good luck!

Where are you located?
PNW = Pacific Northwest. You gave us the heads up about Genesis of Vancouver (Washington). Genesis of Everett showed up on the Genesis website and they plan to get cars in February.

Do you see any other dealers for Washington state?

No, I was going to say that Everett got their dealer code earlier this week in case you were close to there. Didn’t check if they were showing on Genesis’ site or not yet.

I think it's just pent up demand from the excessive delay and lack of dealer competition. For now.

Thanks again for doing this. Yes, Genesis of Everett is about 100 miles closer to me than Vancouver.

Oh that sucks man. Need to put a refundable deposit down next time.

Yeah, I was in the process of doing just that actually. Haha.

The salesman told me they still may able to get what I want. He told me they would do it if I bought at MSRP and paid $1,000 for shipping. At this point i am leaning towards just waiting and/or talking to Genesis of Vancouver and seeing what they say - unless he is willing to give me a better deal. We'll see.

You know what's funny is that the car wasn't even on the lot yet. Michael told me that they had just been allocated that car within their next shipment, and it would be arriving at their dealership on Feb 8th. The person who bought it knew at least as much as me, if not more.

I do not care where I buy from. My only wanting a local dealer concerns are for warranty issues. I loved the car but have a few quality concerns. since it is a new model and also related to the stinger that seems to have some issues I am not crazy about a valet driving my 50k+ car over 2hrs each way for a warranty issue.
Go talk to your local dealer about your concerns. My local dealer (even though I bought my car from a dealer 1,000 miles away) has reassured me they will cover any warranty issues and provide whatever service I need. On my recent tire swap (summer for winter) they even provided the concierge service.

Greetings! New user here, been lurking since May or so. Nice community of folks. I am the one that requested that Silver Sport from Pugi in Illinois. Put my deposit down in late December. I reckon some of what i know about the G70 is due to Toddasaurus and this forum. That said, i respectfully request that you not buy it out from under me. :)

Michael Park, a GXM at Pugi, is a good guy. If you are in Chicagoland, i recommend working with him (hey, he got me the exact car I want).

Agreed, seems like a really good guy from talking with him! Also, for any of those considering transporting the vehicle long distances, Mike said that they'll guarantee that the car will arrive in the same condition it left the dealership. Pretty cool.

And don't worry, I decided I'm going to wait for a bit longer and see if my local dealers come up with more options for me. Hopefully some incentives will start popping up later on down the road as well.

Enjoy the car!! Be sure to share some pictures once you get it!

See below a couple of pics of "Dragon" my new 3.3 G70 Sport Dynamic AWD in Havana Red.
In MY opinion, Havana Red or Mallorca Blue are the best colors and lucky for me, the Dynamic limited edition only comes in Havana Red. I know there are a lot of Siberian Ice lovers out there but I think it looks too trendy and will look dated in 5 years when the fad fades. Color is a very personal thing! In person, the Havana Red actually looks darker and richer--almost Ruby like or Cranberry Red.
As for the local dealer (Ken Garff) they are great to work with and the service department is excellent. They swapped out the summer tires it came with and put on Winter Michelin Pilot Alpin PA4 tires with American Racing AR907 Gloss Black Wheels (my choices). The Michelin Pilot or the Bridgestone Blizzack LM001 are the two PERFORMANCE tires that fit the G70 and since the car is a serious PERFORMANCE car, it made sense to me to put on performance tires. I see a lot of you making different choices and that may be because you have a lot more snow than we do in Utah. In Utah I figure I am driving on dry (cold) roads 90% of the time.

Looks great!

This was something I was wondering as well. The closest dealer to me is Tustin Hyundai in California. I wasn't sure about being able to get service nor how bringing a car from out of state to CA was going to work in terms of registration. I'd have to go to Henderson or Scottsdale depending on who had the car.

All Genesis dealers are required to perform services on Genesis vehicles no matter whether they are purchased from their dealership or not. Can't speak to your closest Hyundai dealer since I don't know if they will be a Genesis dealer or not. Only Genesis dealers are allowed to work on 2019 and beyond Genesis models in regards to covered maintenance and warranty work.

Registering a vehicle purchased outside of California should not be a problem. The Genesis' models are all certified for California emissions so it is just a matter of paperwork. You may have read them already but here are some links to give you some information on the process in California.
