  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

So, I guess we're back to "late summer" which sounds like some time in September?

Clearly, Genesis is gearing up for the release, with the media stuff that's now coming out. I would think that dealers would have some information in the not-too-distant future. This thread should see a lot of action over the coming weeks.

Regardless of when the release is, it will be worth the wait.

I REALLY wish there was some sign of pricing. That would really help. If the thing is too much...I wouldn't even wait. Imagine waiting all these months...only to find out that it will be too much? That would SUCK.

My guesstimate from way back was a tick under $55k USD...for the fully loaded 3.3T AWD. That math involved comparing the G80 Sport in the Canadian and USA markets...some currency conversion, etc.

I heard (probably just fluff) that it will be just a few grand above the loaded Stinger. Hmmm...that would undercut my guess.

If it is anywhere near $57k or up...I am out. $55k is my max...and is what all my comparisons to other brands have been.

If I remember right the Stinger was around 51k with PDI and freight. The 3.3 Sport is 57,500.00 plus tax, so you are looking at approx 6500.00 difference. In Canada.

The Stinger GT Limited is $52,120 CAD all in. Difference of $5,380 CAD which (as of typing) is ~$4077 USD.

The Stinger GT2 in the USA (same car?...who knows) is $52,300 USD (pretax). Canadians are getting a great deal. With that logic...it would put the G70 at $56,377 USD.

Doing my comparisons with the G80 Sport (which I think is more fair)...I come up with $54,481 USD for the G70. I am sticking with this number since I am comparing Genesis to Genesis.

I've driven both and am glad the Kia salesman lied to my face and I walked out on the deal they were trying to make. That being said, the Stinger is a very nice car and I would have been happy with it.

How did you come to that conclusion? Could this be a replacement for someone leaving?

I think Mcc should apply for several of these job openings. I believe he lives in the Los Angeles area, where Genesis Motors America HQ is located (along with HMA).

That is quite a list. I will get right on that . I will mention that I have your recommendation.
On second thought I am enjoying retirement too much.

So...it's been a while with any potential news for the USA. I have not called my dealer sources for a couple of weeks...I could tell they were getting pissed off at me...LOL.

Thinking about calling around by the end of this week.

Wondering if anyone else has done any chit chatting.

I'm actually going to go to my local dealer (Minneapolis, MN) today after work to see what they can give me in terms of info.

Its not the same car. The US version of the top trim Kia Stinger is missing wireless charging, 360 degree camera, rear heated seats, black micro-suede (alcantara) headliner and remote start, lock/unlock, etc. via the UVO app (key fob remote start is another 500 bucks).

I am not sure about G70 pricing in the US specifically because of how they priced the Stinger (I personally think the Stinger is priced too high). The Stinger is missing a lot of features that the G70 is slated to have (see above). But the Stinger is also a much larger vehicle not in the same class as the G70.

Genesis is likely going to play in the gray space between the GT2 AWD Stinger and the G80 Sport HTRAC. It is going to be tough to park a much smaller G70 next to the G80 Sport that has more/better features (upgraded audio system, larger infotainment screen, rear sunshades, etc.) that only costs a couple grand more.

But your 54-55k "guesstimate" does put it about smack in the middle of both.

I called my local dealer in Dublin, CA yesterday and he said he sees nothing in terms of allocation and has heard no news. His prediction is Nov 2018, but I think that is a serious SWAG and he doesn't want me calling him every week. He took down my info and said he'd call when he hears something. Tick tick tick... the sounds of time plodding along...

Noticed that the G70 is officially added as "Coming soon" to the US Genesis website.

I was in a dealer last week and I asked the guys in the "tower" about the G70 and the inventory manager told me August/September. No idea how reliable this information is of course.
