If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

G70 US Availability?

Just got back from Genesis of Dublin, CA. Turns out their website count of 30 cars is really about 5 cars on the lot. The salesman says the 30 cars are on order and allocated to the dealership, but not yet in stock. So, that was a bit disappointing, but there's more... I was told every G70 sold at their dealership would include a $5K markup! Every car I saw had this sticker next to the monroney sticker. He says all cars for the next several months will include the mark-up and it is non-negotiable.

The car I was shown was a 3.3T Sport in Mallorca Blue. Salesman said it will be picked up by the new owner tomorrow and that it was bought for $5K over. I was surprised to see the build date on this car as August 2018; newest build I've seen. So I guess they continued production well past the May dates we've seen.

Still the most disappointing thing for me was that they would not let me test drive any of the 5 cars on the lot! They said all test drives require a credit check and pre-approval for financing. I said I was not willing to do that and so that was that. The waiting for me will continue until this loosens up a bit.

Here's the 3.3T silver Elite I went to see

^ Sorry to hear that, not a good experience all the way around. Hopefully you will be able to go to another dealer nearby and have a totally different experience. Seems like Dublin is acting like a Hyundai dealer just trying to make a quick buck rather than a Genesis dealer delivering the experience and developing the long term relationship that Genesis Motors hopes from it's dealers.

went to the denver auto show, none of the hyundai reps there wanted to talk about nor had any details about genesis 2019 availability in colorado.

looked at the stinger, 330i, s3 as potential alternatives. the stinger is a really great looking car but a little bigger than i like, 99% of my driving is in the city, i dont do much "grand touring," and maybe even a little flashy for my taste. i like the sleeper look.

the germans are obviously nice but damn they kill you w the $options for features that are standard on a genesis or even a f'n mazda these days.

"$4,995 Added Markup"!

LOL!

Do you have the salesperson's email address? Ask them if they've ever heard of the "internet" where you can find the same cars already advertised under MSRP just a few hundred miles away.

And then tell them you're putting $1k toward a vacation to sunny Southern California where you'll buy the car and drive it back to Dublin... 😎

Stopped by Tuttle Click Hyundai and I guess Genesis Saturday. They only had a 4 cylinder car, sat in it, started it. I'm a big guy, its gotta fit. Hit my foot on the front of the foot getting in, window is above my shoulder, good F. leg room, big Sun Roof.. My right knee hit the console. All New cars seem to have high consoles, I like lower. Can the cover and Sun Roof work independently, as in Roof closed and cover open or closed?? Does the HUD work at idle?? I didn't see it, he said it had it, my Sunglasses are Polarized if that makes a difference. Very quiet exhaust, said I couldn't drive it, although I'm interested in the 6 cyl Turbo model. Back seat leg room is VERY SHORT, Trunk is small but probably OK. I'm coming out of an older Acura TL, 2 inches bigger on the outside, much bigger on the inside... Looks like Poway in S. Diego and S. Bay Genesis have several 3.3 vehicles in inventory per the Genesis web-site. Hopefully my local Dealers will get a few.

polarized glasses block HUD visibility. You can tip your head and it will typically become visible even with the glasses on.

Yes, the head liner works independent of the roof opening. Although I never open the roof, I always have the liner open.

Polarized sunglasses block the HUD. Never tried it myself, but tilting or turning your head allows you to see it.

Consuls are getting larger. Maybe you can swap out the seats for a bench seat from a '59 Chevy. Plenty wide for three to sit or two to lay down. I'll skip the details on that though.

For the HUD, there is actually an option in the menu to rotate it, to make it work with polarized lenses.

So like Ray, I too went G70 shopping on Saturday. Visited Huntington Beach since I found out (after showing up) that Tuttle-Click didn't have a 3.3t.

I'm sure there's plenty of reviews and comparisons available, but since they're likely buried deep in this 200+ page thread, here's mine.

I'll start by saying that I've test driven the Audi S4 & S5, BMW 440i, Kia Stinger, and Genesis G80 Sport all in the last year. We own a 2018 Q50 3.0t Sport (not the Red sport), so I have extensive driving on that too (and I use it as a measuring stick for the others).

I was pretty impressed by the test drive I took in HB. It seems like the people there haven't finished reading up on everything related to the car because I had short conversations with about 5 people in the first 15 minutes I was there. I was asked several times why I wanted a G70 3.3t Sport instead of the 3.3t Elite or 2.0 Sport they had on the lot. I chalked it up to sales tactics at first, but it bugged me a bit that I was asked so many times and that I had to quite literally list the specifically list the features from the package that I wanted. Nonetheless, I came to test drive the car, so we hopped in the 3.3t Elite (Mallorca Blue) and went for a drive. It was around 3-4 miles, but I got a decent feel for the car. Once we got back, the sales manager came out and we got going trying to find the exact car I want. There was quite a bit of waiting, but we got it nailed down and he gave us an estimate on when they should have it in stock. Not sure if it's a dealer swap situation or they just fortunately happen to have one being shipped to them, but it's all the same to me. Overall, it was a pleasant experience and their showroom is significantly more luxurious feeling than the other Hyundai dealerships I've seen.

Now to the car:
Starting with the looks and interior, the car is definitely better in person and I feel like the boomerang that some take issue with doesn't stick out/look like they're trying too hard. I noticed the black trim on the 2.0 Sport stood out a bit in contrast to the silver body color (not a fan), but as I'm looking for a dark color car, I doubt that would be an issue for me. The back seat is manageable, but notably smaller than the above listed cars. Nobody I know is exceptionally tall, but I'd imagine it would be uncomfortable for anyone 6'3"+ sitting behind me (5'11"). The interior was in a cream color and I most definitely don't agree with it. Maybe I'm biased towards a black interior, but the interior on the 3.3t Elite just didn't seem to scream "luxury" to me. It was something about the feel of the leather specifically. With that said, I sat in the fully loaded 2.0t Sport they had for a quick peak at the quilted leather interior before leaving and it did meet my expectations. The buttons on the center console look nice, but don't have much of a tactile feel to me, but really, who cares? I did feel like the lack of a temperature reading on the knobs was a big missed opportunity though. I noticed the touchscreen wasn't as responsive as others, but still reasonable. It used a simple layout and the menus don't go too deep, so I was pleased by that. Lastly, I LOVE the silver speaker covers on the door (reminds me of the Burmester ones on a Mercedes) and the Lexicon speakers seem up to scratch for me. Luckily, the salesman didn't mess with the audio settings until the very end of the drive. I detest how every salesman (any brand) just has to go and turn up the bass and treble to max, but I suppose it shows the high/low end capabilities? I think I prefer the Bose ones in our Q50, but the salesman said the 3.3t Sport would also come with upgraded Infinity speakers (anyone have a fact check on this?) so I will update this when I do test drive a model with my exact desired specifications.

On to the driving notes. The first thing I noticed was that the car sounded better than the Stinger (or I don't remember how the Stinger sounds) upon the cold start. As soon as I hopped in the driver's seat I turned off the fake engine audio. It didn't have the crackle of the Audi(s) or match the BMW in the noise department, but it was much better than I was expecting. (Bar being set by the Stinger's lackluster engine noise) The salesman was curious about the difference, so we did a few pulls for comparison between the "enhanced" and "off" settings. I didn't notice thaaaat much of a difference, but I was also caught up in the enjoyment of speed. It's pretty damn quick and I didn't notice much turbo lag. Seeing as we were on surface streets, I didn't try to see what the 80-100 felt like, but the car seemed like it was capable enough. I noticed the steering was heavier (even in comfort mode) than most of the other cars I've driving and I'm still on the fence if that is a positive or negative in my books. The car feels planted, goes where you point it, and handled the bumps well too. I didn't notice any issue with shifting speed using the paddles, but I also didn't test the feature with the car going full tilt to redline. Unlike the Q50, the blind spot detection light is in the right spot (the mirror) and the brake hold was cool (yet seemingly novel) feature that I never considered before. Overall, I would say the driving feels about on par with the Audi(s), but the 440i is still a bit more exciting to drive.

In summary, it's a great car and a steal at the fully loaded price of $51k. If you couldn't tell already, I'm planning on buying one once they get my spec in and we can settle on a price. :shake:

I'll try to remember to post an update or follow up to this once I test a 3.3t Sport.

Edit: 4/2/19 Forgot to mention the heated & cooled seats. Perfect for the 2 seasons in California, summer and "not-so-summer." Also wish we could get a flat bottom steering wheel

Walk away from that dealer and never go back....

Go to Genesis of Concord, Ca. They only show 2 in stock via genesis inventory website but they have 5-6 on the lot (maybe the site will update). Apparently they grabbed a few from Fountain Valley, CA. Anyway, I test drove 3.3 RWD Sport, no problems what so ever and no BS. We really didn't get into specifics, I'm interested in the manual but the salesperson had no qualms about letting me tool around in the 3.3.

On the other hand, I called Genesis of Dublin and he gave me the same story he told you. I asked about the manual and all of sudden it was so precious, they can kiss it! Go to Concord, I think they'll treat you better, I wouldn't give Dublin a wooden nickle until they change their tune! Good Luck.

Do you have any new info on PA getting cars or codes? My local dealer Genesis of Wexford is telling me that they will get car in about two weeks. Thanks, Pepper

^ The following are PA dealers with codes. Not sure which have inventory.

GENESIS OF WILLOW GROVE
GENESIS OF SPRINGFIELD
GENESIS OF CONSHOHOCKEN
GENESIS OF WILKES BARRE
GENESIS OF DOYLESTOWN
GENESIS OF WEXFORD
GENESIS OF DOWNINGTOWN

Is there a public site we can search these dealer codes or is this an insider tool/source? Just curious as I’m waiting for a few more near me to get these codes.

Also to expand upon my question I have a few local Hyundai dealers that have been selling G80’s and G90s for a few years now. Is the significance of this “code” that they are now official standalone Genesis dealers and can sell the G70?

For example this dealer:

Genesis of Sandy | New Genesis dealership in Sandy, UT 84070

I try to update this sticky each weekend with what dealers have inventory showing and which have codes but no inventory,
