No. That was the amount of the warranty claim to Genesis. You paid for it? Why?

Definitely not fixed. I’m having the same issue with my 2020 G80 Sport. I brought the car to the dealership and they told me they wanted $60 to buff it out with compound. When I said that was ridiculous they told me to buy the compound and do it myself. This is no small task. So disappointed in that customer service experience. A letter to Genesis Canada will be on the way shortly…I wonder if this was something that was fixed on the ‘19s. I guess I’ll find out, possibly the hard way ....
Buffing the trim will completely remove the "dark" coating. That's not acceptable to me.Definitely not fixed. I’m having the same issue with my 2020 G80 Sport. This is 100% a "WARRANTY" issue. You have a piss poor dealer. Demand that they turn it in as warranty! Go to another dealer if you have to. DO NOT ACCEPT THIS ANSWER!Definitely not fixed. The HUGE issue with you fix is, it's the same as what Genesis is recommending, it removes the "dark tint finish" to the trim, making it polished chrome. One of the reasons I wanted a Sport model was specifically for the dark tint on the window trim. Plus, now your door handles don't match. Or your grill trim. This isn't ok in my bookafter much research and frustration with you all, I found the fix:
Ordered this stuff from Amazon- arrived this morning, Just tested 30 minutes ago- paper towel- hand buff on- rub off- waited 30 minutes before posting and still perfect where I tested, not a spot or stain to be found. So I'm going to do the rest of the car, this will save us from the dealer frustrations, screw em. Post your success story and love looking at your 3.3T again![]()
I mean if it's between this and this and dealing with a dealer non stop for the same parts its great for me. Tint is still dark, maybe not mirror but plenty shine, and this is still with residue on it since I just finished and didnt wash down. Did the whole side in 20 minutes but lesser of 2 evils, everyone says it'll happen again anyway so. Honestly when I bought my car it was already like this with the oxidation since I bought it used, so this is a wonderful thing for me. People who bought brand new and saw it fade may feel otherwise, but I love it.The HUGE issue with you fix is, it's the same as what Genesis is recommending, it removes the "dark tint finish" to the trim, making it polished chrome. If it's under the bumper to bumper warranty, Genesis should replace it. If enough people complain and have it replaced, maybe Genesis will come up with a more permanent solution that we can all benefit from. So long as people accept it other than how it should be, Genesis will do nothing towards a long term solution, and that's a issue that affects all of us. That's all I'm saying. I'm glad you're happy with your solution. I, like many others, am not though.I mean if it's between this and this and dealing with a dealer non stop for the same parts its great for me. Our 2020 g80 has done the same thing. Bottom trim replaced 6 months ago, top trim 2 months ago. Bottom trim is doing the same thing again. I think this is going to be a continuous battle.Just wanted to pitch in my experience here. Purchased a 2018 G80 Sport with 40k miles with severe discoloration all around. Brought it to local Hyundai & they dragged their feet a bit. Kept getting "someone will get back to you by tomorrow" every day. Eventually upon calling back, I was informed that the repair was NOT covered under warranty because "paint is only covered until 26k miles". I insisted this isn't a paint issue, and again, I got a "we'll call you later".
Called into the two nearest Genesis dealers [both two hours away in opposite directions] & received the same response - "someone will call you tomorrow".
No phone calls, despite me calling several times to follow up.
I decided to email the service manager at my local Hyundai directly. I politely explained my situation, explained that this is a common issue on this trim, & provided detailed photos. I also provided a link to this thread to show that many others are experiencing the issue & having it resolved under warranty. I got a call back in under 24 hours to inform me that all the parts were ordered & to set up an appointment.
My takeaway: be polite, courteous, understanding, but firm. Make sure you have the info you need ready [Vin, photos, this thread, etc] & read how other people responded to curveballs thrown their way.
Here's what my trim currently looks like. It's super sunny so it was hard to get accurate depictions, but yeah, it's really bad looking.
Good luck to everyone else!
