  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Lexicon Sound System

When I test drove the G70, Brandy’s “I Wanna Be Down” came on XM Radio I was VERY impressed by the bass response. I have a X3 M40i with the Harmon Kardon audio and the subs are under the front seats as well. The bass in the G70 is far better than in my BMW. The BMW also suffers from no upper mid-bass response. The M40i has tons of tweeters and midranges but no woofers in the doors like in the G70.
thanks

Has anyone tried using the AUX input with high quality files (e.g. FLAC) and a multi-band EQ? My thought is that if you had a better EQ, you could drop down the upper end of the bass range and then push the volume to boost low end bass.

i use the Apple lighting cable with CarPlay and listen through FLAC and ALAC through the CloudBeats app.

This reminds me, Spotify sounds like crap, but I'm guessing that's an issue with Android Auto/Spotify I need to research. Listening to songs I downloaded with high quality sound awful.
You still having issues with Spotify sounding like crap? I feel like I might have the same issue. I download my music on the highest quality but it just doesn't sound right...

FYI, I swear the BT audio quality is light years better after the most recent nav upgrade.

AAs settings and no, calling is done via the cable. It's under the Phone screen settings...."Use Bluetooth".

I noticed on mine the nav would work but the audio was trash so I flipped that off and now the music runs at a higher codec via the cable instead of the BT codec.
How exactly do you do that? I sued Apple carplay I can't fin the settings you are talking about, I have the new 2021 g70 UI

It's an Android thing. One of the reasons Android is superior...
Can you use your android when its connected to AA?? On android you need to install an app to use AA and need to have it open. My dad has an Android and Wireless AA on his GMC Denali 3500, he can't use his phone when its connected to AA Unlike the iPhone where you don't need any app you can just use your phone while its connected. Makes it so much easier to look up directions and music, you don't have to lean over to your screen and type up a full address. It's easily a deal breaker for me, once you get used to using your phone to quickly set navigation and change music there's just no going back. I do like androids tho.

Sorry if this was asked already. In the 2018+ G80's, the Lexicons have a sibilance "harsh S" (almost hissing) issue -- like super high treble especially noticeable in talk radio. It's not because of the speakers, but it's allegedly because of the QuantumLogic processing that's done. Messing with equalizers don't fix this.

Is this an issue with the Lexicons in the G70?

I would say yes.

I would say yes.
I am currently in a 2020-21 refresh G80, and it's got some harsh sibilance as well. I will say it handles the processing better, and it's not as bad as the G70's boosted 2-5k. I keep meaning to run my frequency analyzer in my car to find the exact frequency (-ies) but I have not yet. G80 stereo does sound much better, though, but again this is a 2020 or 2021 vehicle.

Ugh. That's disappointing. Is there anything owners can do? Replace with aftermarket speakers? Adjust EQ through the phone if you're playing media from the phone?

It's the processing in the G70 that harshes out the highs. You can always go to an aftermarket sound processor + multichannel amp, and skip the G70 stock processing and amps . There are a lot of shops experienced in doing jobs like that, it's pretty common..

I posted about navigation update here accidentally. I deleted it with the explanation "wrong thread" I do not claim any poster here is in the wrong thread but myself.

Interesting. I didn't know this was even possible. Do you have any recommendations on which processor and amp to replace with?

Edit: I just replied to the equivalent thread on the G80 forums, letting them know about this thread, since it's the same problem, root cause, and potential fix of replacing the sound processor and amp.

Unfortunately no, but if you hop over to some car audio forums, or talk to Crutchfield, am sure they can help you out.
