  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

I think this is new. MotorWeek Track Test...6MT and the 3.3T RWD.

6MT is 6.9 seconds...ouch.

Once again...they test the Dynamic edition. It apparently is a slower car...something is up with it. They got 4.7 seconds. I know 100% for a fact that it is at least a 4.5 second car if not better (stock).

Why do they keep testing this bizarre Dynamic edition (which is supposed to be better for the track!!)?

The 3.3T is a Dynamic edition, not a Design edition. The Dynamic is supposed to be the "faster" G70.

I think people will need to start doing their own butt dynos as all these 0-60 times are all over the place.

I honestly almost bought a cla45 amg before the G70 based on the 0-60 yime until i test drove one and hated the turbo lag/ throttle response which is why i now have a G70, 2018 cla45 has a listed 4.2 0-60 but it just felt sluggish

Is the AWD 4.5secs or the RWD? I think it is the AWD cause it helps with the launch even though it is heavier since even the Stinger RWD needs a reduction in boost for 1st gear not to lose traction with the JB4.
I did 6.9 sec on a full tank of gas with my 2.0T AT. Last check was 6.3 sec on Map2 with a full tank of gas. I think I can get to high 5 secs with the fuel wires and a quarter tank or less.

Everything I’ve read says that the rwd is faster stock as it’s not traction limited at launch and the lighter weight helps that 0-60 time

^ agreed. maybe it is only because i am paying closer attention for the G70, but i don't recall so much discrepancy with test data for other vehicles. usually sources report a fairly tight spread between published test timing from what i can tell. with the G70, the times are indeed all over the place.

for the 2.0T i've seen anywhere from 6.0s to low 7's. that's crazy. but if MW are using the times from the video i'm not surprised for the 6.9s reported...far too much wheel spin!

we need head to head comparos to gauge how the G70 stacks up to the competition under like conditions.

Do you find that the engine runs out of breathe at around 4,800rpm? The JB4 helps.

Nobody’s posted this yet? (Posted on YT April 25). Funny, she didn’t put “G70” in the main title of the review and I only saw it today when I was searching for G80 Sport reviews...

It's hard to take any YouTube reviewer seriously cause they're all just trying to get paid with the clicks.
Unfortunately that's where we are these days cause content is instant and convenient.
Miss the days when we got actual factual tests and perspectives from automotive journalist and professional drivers!

Again...I am absolutely baffled that none of the big players have taken a hard stab...or even any head-to-head comparisons.

I swear...I may be reaching here...but perhaps Genesis is not paying off reviewers. Other brands are known for doing such.

The competition is simply scared to go at it!!!

They f’ing should be...our bitch is the best!!!!

I do like Sarah’s video. Certainly more than Doug DeMuro’s, not because Doug doesn’t have good content or photography skills, but because of the way he over-accentuates syllables and vowels that drives me nuts.

On the other hand, Sarah’s wacky humor is right up my alley, so I’m happy to watch. (My wife, on the other hand... not so much.)

One thing I consider when watching Youtube car reviews is knowing that if they get too negative too often on a brand, they'll get blacklisted from getting test cars. They also get perks from the automakers, like trips to Europe to test a new car.

I haven't made the effort to find it, but about 30 years ago, the Wall Street Journal did a big article about how cozy Car & Driver editors were with the automakers. They basically attacked C&D as being completely in the pockets of their favorite brands.
