  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis G70 Reviews

Well shit. More people having transmission problems. Is it just a matter of time before it happens to all of us?? Mine has been great, but for how long.... Ugh. I'm probably overthinking this.
I am almost at 6k miles...and I have (at times) driven the living piss out of mine. Zero issues...even in the first 3 min of driving (I also pull out onto a busy street).

I started noticing issues at 700 miles. Has only gotten worse and still only at 1200 miles.

During a long highway trip this weekend while driving in Smart mode and the car coasting I notice many times a clunk when engaging transmission again. This thing does not happen at lower speeds.

The Motortrend article mentions praise from consumer forums. Are they watching us?!

But is there a place here where people are discussing the transmission issues? I haven't seen it yet.

Yeah...there’s a couple. Look under the engine/trans section.

Why do they keep comparing the 330 to the 3.3T ? Do they not get that the 340 is the direct competitor?

Also...they got the 3.3T to do 60 in 4.8 seconds? That is the worst yet...jeez.
since there is no 340i this year and only the m340i its kind of a lose-lose for comparisons. The G70 is soooo much cheaper than a m340i that its almost out of the class even though they compete. The type of all seasons on the G70 vs the BMW seem to come into play for the handling/braking portion of the test (so I would have loved to have seen a summer vs summer tire version) but I dont think their slower 0-60 times can be blamed on that since our launches arent traction limited. G70 0-60 numbers honestly seem to be all over the place depending on the testing publication

From a dollar for dollar perspective, it makes sense. Any car within the same price range can/should be compared to the others within that range.

In this case, I think it highlights that the 3.3t has amazing value for the money when you consider how it compares to both the 330i and M340i

they address the rationale for 330i vs g70 3.3T comparo - that consumers shop on price. so the two vehicles as spec'd line up closely on cost. if we do not accept that then the car mags are in a lose lose position. whenever they compare the g70 3.3T against the m340i everyone complains about the massive price difference saying an m340i buyer is not the same buyer as a g70 3.3T. this was done recently.

some of data in this review is haywire. they state a 75hp delta between the 330i and g70 3.3T? but then their specs show a 110hp delta. not sure why Genesis didn't send a 3.3T dynamic, or at least a 3.3T sport with proper summer PS4 rubber.

Yea, I noticed that too. A 110hp delta makes it pretty pointless to compare performance specs when the weights are similar.
I think the magazine editors are making a false assumption saying that shoppers won't be comparing the G70 to the 340i. That's exactly what I did, despite the price difference. Had I thought the BMW was that much better, I would have paid the extra money, especially when BMW routinely has seasonal sales where they knock something like $3500 off the sticker (plus loyalty and BMWCCA discounts).
