  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

And keep in mind, this is all because I'm looking at the 3.5T Prestige. If I were going with the 4-cylinder, that would open up some other things (like the Acura or the Caddy).
All very good points. And you raise an interesting point about the 2022 QX60! I NEVER EVER would have considered an Infiniti in the past. I've considered them a dying rental-car type of vehicle for a while, due to both interior and exterior design. But the new QX60 seriously puts them back in consideration for me. (based on the YouTube videos I've watched) I'd love to find someone who has test driven both, and done a solid analysis.

I've had to Infiniti's in the past and love them at the time the best bang for the buck. But now they have gotten expensive and their reliability has suffered.

For those interested in the 2.5T GV70, reviews of the Stinger GT-Line have finally been dribbling out, so being a somewhat similar thing with a hatch, will give a good indication of how that powertrain performs.

The QX60 is more a GV80 competitor than a GV70, and while the lease terms on the latest Infiniti models like the QX60 have gone up, they're still better than for the comparable Genesis, and pretty sure things like the Q50 still have pretty good lease rates.

Loved my 2010 EX35…bullet proof great quality and luxurious, loved it. Tested a QX50 Autograph $62k before seeing the GV70. Gorgeous on the outside then sat in it, awesome! Then came the test drive…what a pos. Front wheel drive bias, ancient tech, CVT (awful)…hard pass.

QX60 sounds like the real deal, 3.5 six banger…ditched the CVT finally (too long with a bad idea may not recover) 9 speed trans. My EX35 AWD was great rear wheel bias maybe they got that figured out too.

Love my GV70…still fired up every time I get in it.

I had a G80 with the 2.5 as a loaner for 2 weeks and 500 miles. At first I thought it was a fine amount of power but the more I drove it and the harder I drove it the 4 cylinder-ness of it was apparent. Plenty of pep most of the time but lacking as well at times and the 8 speed had a harder time finding the right gear. There is no replacement for displacement as someone once said. That said with Grandpa Joe's rising gas prices the 4 pooper makes more cents. Although in the G80 at least th fuel economy was not all that much better than the 3.5TT. 2-3 mpg maybe.

GV70 was top choice of both reviewers

2022 Genesis GV70 | Review & Road Test

The Lexus had a CVT, so I ruled that out right away. It also doesn't have anywhere close to the performance of the GV70; I don't think it has a V6 option at all.
The 2022 NX has a lot of compelling features. The hybrid models are the only ones with the CVT. Either way, not expected to be available until December or so.

I think Toyota/Lexus now uses an E-cvt, which has a fixed launch gear, and is supposed to greatly increase the reliability and life of these transmissions. I would not think that it would be any less reliable than the Genesis/Hyundai eight speed. Performance (acceleration) will be another issue entirely and I'm certain the Genesis will outperform the Lexus.

CVT's are awful regardless of whether or not they're reliable. That rubber-band feel of the transmission and the monotone engine droning basically kills any semblance of driving enjoyment.

Very pleasantly surprised with the Prestige's seats , heats up quickly, cools up quickly, really comfortable . They have grown on me and I do not miss the all leather . Sitting in them are nice . No regrets at all .

Had the same issue a few years pack yesterday driving an Infiniti. Powerful engine but driving it was so blah to both of us. It felt the worst of any other car we drove.

There's also a separate interior review video.

Only took 4 months..

Hopefully this won't start a thread war:

Driving home last night at 11 pm, freeway wide open so I decided to air things out. Will tell you that this vehicle goes 65 to 110 mph within seconds and without issue. There was plenty left on the tach so I believe the top speed. Still quiet as a mouse in the cabin. Had to slow down due to closing in on traffic and the freeway was ending.

The only thing I would add is that while it’s true that most car reviews fail to cover every single feature and functionality of most cars that are being reviewed, as compared to what an actual owner would know, but it’s particularly true for the GV70 as there is simply so much depth to the tech that even a week-long experience like what Matt Maran had might not be enough to allow them to experience all that there is in this car. I’m still discovering little things about the GV70 even now.

I haven't read all 50 pages, so someone may have already posted this, but there is a 12 minute segment (8:00-20:00) on Consumer Reports on the GV70, 2.5T and 3.5T. They loved both, with a few quibbles like they always have.

yea! Someone actually talking about a 2.5t before driving a 3.5t.

Another Car of the Year award for the brand nobody still seems to know here in the States.
Doug Munro gets a lot of things wrong...But when he called out the EXCEPTIONAL GV70 interior design/materials/quality at this price point, he was right on the money - esp. when he specifically called out the Macan as being in second place here. I am a designer at a Tier 2 automotive and am engaged with every OEM manufacturing in the USA for interior components. Back when I replaced my G80 with my G70 Design Edition, one of these US manufacturers was checking out my car after a meeting. They were visibly shocked at the quality and finish, asking me over and over what the price was. "It would have to be priced $15k higher if WE made this thing..."
Nuff said.
Doug DeMuro, obviously...thanks Autocorrect
