  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis GV70 Reviews

No. The early videos of KDM vehicles showed some very different HUD capabilities, particularly with regard to NAV functions. US vehicles lack many of the AR features which were shown. Oh well...

One thing about the 3.5 Sports Prestige trim which isn't mentioned nearly as much as it should be, however, is the E-LSD. Its freaking amazing! Tight corners are a joy.

Whisk33,

I would be most interested in your opinion of the HUD. It would be the single reason for opting for the 3.5 model over the less expensive offerings.

I saw a video where the HUD showed indicated cars, moving up the line, as they passed you in the passing lanes.

If you look at the INTRO in the included video below you will see how impressive it looks...

...but is that how it actually looks and works in U.S. vehicles?

The HUD looks nothing like the picture you attached. If I find a time I'm on the road I'll take a photo and ping you.

The pros of it being different is that it is much less cluttered than the photo you sent me. I could image that it could get distracting. But I'm still disappointed as I liked what that one you posted had.

What it actually comes with has a weird halfmoon and when you are in cruise control it will show the other cars as gray blocks. Not as sexy.

So you've had that happen to you? Or have you seen accurate statistics from Genesis or, say, Consumer Reports, about high failure rates in the E-LSDs? Do tell.

Couple of posts on this forum alone. There is a trend. Have your bothered to read those posts? Do tell!
Since your brought it up, consumer reports does tell us that there are insanely high failure rates in general on the GV80 which shares drivetrains with the GV70. A score of 5 out of a possible 100. LOL!!! The GV80 scores particularly poor for drive system reliability which include these components: Driveshaft or axle, CV joint, differential, transfer case, 4WD/AWD components, driveline vibration, traction control, electronic stability control (ESC), electrical failure.
Icing on the cake https://www.gv forums.com/threads/limited-slip-differential.875/ remove the space between the v and f because this forum blocks the any link to that site. Counted 6 people with e-lsd issues alone in that one thread. LOL!
Sorry you opened your big mouth huh...

Thank you all for the love/hate relationship with the E-diff (I have open axles all around, so I’m not in this fight), but let’s keep this thread on topic, ie reviews.

Epistemology tip: One person posting 100 times about 1 issue does not equal 100 people posting once about 100 issues.

Consumer Reports doesn't break out ANY COMPONENT in the GV80 reliability stats, of course, so poor reliability ratings for drivetrain issues doesn't say much (and, of course includes components on your GV which doesn't have the E-LSD). What you describe as "insanely high failure rates" are equivalent to the Audi A8, Audi Etron, Mercedes GLE and the Tesla Model X, and better than the Lincoln Aviator. The thread you post pretty much demonstrates what I say above. Of 13 total posts about the e-dif, there appear to be 3 actual issues, but 5 of the 13 posts are from one person... Guess who? A problem with drawing conclusions from posts on forums is that they're distorted in ways which make it difficult to extract meaning. How many posts are driven by confirmation bias? (It's not limited to car forums. This kind of crap is ubiquitous on medical forums.) There may be statistically significant issues with the dif actuator or bad lubrication. There may not. I don't know yet, and neither do you. Are there issues with the GV70? Of course, as with any product manufactured in huge quantities. Is the E-dif particularly problematic? We don't know yet. There may have been a few made with contaminated fluid. There may have been a few assembled with out-of-tolerance machining. You don't know if any of those problems are statistically significant or just the result of a single bad shift for a single worker.

The forum syndrome where a few bad posts somehow equals thousands of dead vehicles. Even if there were 10 posts with bad ELSD in them, there are thousands of GV70's. 10 does not equal 10%, or 50%, or anything else. It just means ten people had issues and came to a forum checking in on it from other owners. There are 43k members on this forum, can I therefore say 10 out of 43k gv70's will have bad differentials?

New review of The GV70:

I’m surprised no one commented about this video. I think it’s well done. It‘s quickly rising to be one of my favs (No one has surpassed Throttle House with their take on The GV70 however, which is by and away the best video about said car IMHO).

Yes I agree with you it is. I did comment on the video on the tube about something he mentioned in the video. He said that he was reviewing a Canadian model, yet he did mentioned the fingerprint scanner to start the car. Unfortunately that doesn't seem to be a feature we have here, maybe they'll do an update and send us all a keycard so we can (just seems like a very long shot). Anyhow, as much as I love this vehicle that's my bummer with it.

Not a review but still good (not for the faint hearted :p)

Hopefully no one on here will put theirs to the test, but it’s nice to know our cars aren’t only lovingly designed and expertly engineered, but supremely safe as well.

Here's one for you. Saw this in my newsfeeds and though I'm sure how much weight these hold I just wanted to share.

Thee Car Connection: Genesis GV70: Best Car To Buy 2022 nominee.

It would be interesting to see what they say on January 3.

Here’s a review from Russia on the GV70 with some fun snow driving at 25:18:

Another 2.5 review for y’all:

Probably my favorite 2.5 review. He does a great job breaking all the info down. I do wish he had done a little more on the driving experience and comparing to the 3.5 drivetrain.

Yeah, heads up display and 3D cluster probably the most upsetting part about this vehicle being present only if you ready to put down $65K+tax for 3.5T Sport Prestige. Otherwise I would buy 2.5T top trim in a heartbeat. Waiting for NX 350 test drive exactly for this reason.

I am also waiting to test drive the NX350. We have a Lexus vs. Genesis thread already in progress in this group.
