  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Genesis Owners: What vehicle did your Genesis replace?

99 Tahoe, But I only had that car 10 months. In my 13 years of driving, the Genesis is my 19th car. I plan to keep it atleast 3 yrs tho.

2006 Lexus IS250 - still have the car - giving it to my 16 yr old son.

Just joined the club yesterday.

Replaced a 2000 Saturn SL2 with a 2009 3.8L. It's a little bit of a difference.

Highly customized 2010 Elantra Touring 5spd manual. Was a sad day when I sold it, but it was time to buy a grown up car and leave the boy racer mentality behind.

Replaced 2001 Infiniti QX4 (which was totaled) with a 2013 R-spec on 4/15/13. Looked hard at an Infiniti M but just couldn’t justify the price.

My first Hyundai and so far have been satisfied.

Good idea. That back seat is almost too tight to call it a four door. :)

lol - yeah my co-workers who had to sit back there when we went lunch were pretty excited when I bought the Genesis.

Replaced a 2009.5 Pontiac g8 gt with a r spec. Genesis is faster stock but the g8 with an intake/tune is about as fast.

2006 dodge magnum r/t hemi 5.7...

Totally blacked out... Many many mods.. Hated to get rid of it but family comes first.. Plus 126000 miles.. Loved it... Powerful but gas hog

I grew up in the muscle car area: big block Fords, GM, Plymouth, Pontiac(my neighbor had a beautiful goat/GTO) so as I approached retirement I wanted another V-8 big horsepower muscle car. bought a 2013 Mustang GT-loaded. This was in a sense my check out ride. What a disappointment. I loved the car but the A/C would not blow cold air. 45 degree air is not cold, especially in 115 degree heat. A Ford engineer came out and they tried all sorts of stuff to fix it including replacing the ECM. I decided on the R-spec, V-8, lots of horsepower and I am not dissapointed. Ironically the car is almost too refined for me. By the way, the A/C blows 37 degrees all day long. Although the R-spec and American muscle cars are kind of like apples and oranges, I was not interested in GM or Chrysler products. I'll keep the Genesis for a long time.

My 2010 Genesis 4.6 replaced a 1989 Cadillac Coupe De Ville...Yes I had it 23 years!!!...No I never owned a Hyundai before this one!

Simple question, what vehicle did your Genesis replace? I'm curious to see how many of you owned a Hyundai prior to purchasing the Genesis. For those of you who are coming from another brand, please specify if this is your first Hyundai vehicle. If not, please list what Hyundai(s) you've owned previously.
.

I traded in a 2006 Honda Civic Hybrid for the 2013 Hyundai Genesis, over 2 weeks ago now. This is our first Hyundai, but probably not our last. While test driving the Genesis, we spotted a Santa Fe that may become a replacement for our Ford Expedition sometime down the road.

Our three kids will all start driving over the course of the next 12 to 24 months. And we're already thinking that we'll start by looking at entry level Hyundai models, first and foremost.

(We were going to save the Honda Civic Hybrid for the kids' first car, but after taking a drive to San Francisco a few weeks ago, and getting stuck on hill after hill, we decided it wouldn't be a wise car to keep, even as a spare.)

The straw that broke the Civic's back was when we tried to drive up the back of Lombard street, so we could take the kids down the world famous front side. The Civic went from a Front Wheel Drive to a No Wheel Drive. Couldn't even go half an inch up the hill. We stopped traffic, turned around and left empty handed. I decided right then and there to dump the Civic.

We set out that night to look at getting a Lexus ES, and after a few days of research on Edmunds.com, we discovered the Hyundai Genesis had a better value prop. A week later we bought a 2013 Genesis 3.8 with tech package.

Can't wait to take it to SF and try Lombard again. Something tells me we'll make it up this time, even with a car full of growing teens.:o :p:p;)

Just picked up a 2012 Genesis 3.8 with premium & tech package that the dealership had been using. Traded in my 2005 Pontiac Bonneville that had 193,000 miles on it. Had a 98 Bonneville before that. First Hyundai.

Saw the Genesis 2 months ago when we were shopping to replace my wife's 2005 Grand Caravan - she wanted a Sante Fe which is what our eldest daughter has. She saw a used Nissan Murano in the lot and she ended up getting one of those. Then I ended up getting the Genesis.

Both of these vehicles were our first non-North American brand vehicles.

Have had the car for just under 2 weeks and very happy with it. This forum appears to be very informative.

First Post! Thanks, Neale
