JW:
Regarding the pins/holes mismatch, are the wings pins larger in diameter than the holes left in the trunk after the flying H removal, or is it the pins don't line up with the existing holes? In other words, if you had to drill, is it make the existing holes a little bigger or drill two new holes.
Before you undertook this, did you inquire what the dealer's body shop guys would charge for the job?
Thanks!
Anyone know what THIS is?

QUESTION: I don't think I've read ANYWHERE on how exactly to remove the wheel center caps... can someone walk me through it real quick, if you don't mind?
Is it simply "heat for a minute or two", and "pry it off with your fingers"? Or more involved than that? I'm talking about the center caps, not the 18" wheel covers. Those grooved tabs on the back make me think it's not gonna be that easy....
Thanks!
No - these are the center caps on the 19" R Spec wheels. If you are referring to the metal center "H" on 18" wheels then yes just heat with hair dryer or place in oven at about 175 degrees F. There are several threads on this regarding replacing the H with the wings.
Thanks Scott - the question is HOW did you take off the caps? Did you have to heat them? Use anything to pry them off with? Brute force? Your nails?Same thing actually. Did it to mine. I just took the caps off the 18 wheels and put the wing on the R Spec wheel. Same size center...That is, the center of the center cap![]()

I'm just trying to get an idea of what to expect.
Thanks.

Along with info on this process I saw this posted this morning by 'Ruissimo':
"I'm going to replace the dealer plate frame when I find a quality one if anyone can recommend one - every one at the auto parts stores was plastic or really flimsy metal."
I've had really good luck painting the black plastic dealer frame with chrome spray paint. It moves the match of the plate color very close to the chrome already on the vehicle. John
Hmm... must've been sleep-web-browsing-and-forum-posting again... 'cause I don't remember posting anything this morning. Except this.Along with info on this process I saw this posted this morning by 'Ruissimo':
