  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

I just got off the phone with a guy named Steve who is the Team Lead for the Premium Group about another issue I was having with the stupid people who handle the phone calls. Anyway, we got on the subject of Android Auto and he told me that Android Auto for the Genesis (BOTH 8" and o9.2") was RELEASED TO THE DEALERS THIS WEEK. He suggested that we call the dealer who should have whatever he needs starting Monday to start installing the upgrade. When you get it, please post. HOORAY! HOORAY! FINALLY!

Great news. Thanks for tip.

This is awesome!

Is there a cost to it for a recently purchase 2015 Genesis, or is it part of the Warranty?
Thanks

Should be free of charge. Just an upgrade

Review didn't seem bad to me. The person says it has some advantages and some disadvantages compared with the built in stuff. For me it has more advantages as I want hands free texting and app manipulation.

Was referring to the conclusion:

Car manufacturers have spent years building robust navigation and infotainment systems for their vehicles that do a great job. Android Auto doesn’t seem to bring much more to the table, and for now, isn’t much more than a very nice add-on. If you’re looking to do everything the Google way, the option is available to you, but if you’re already having a good time with the built-in navigation system, Android Auto, in its current iteration, isn’t yet ready to completely replace what is already available.

Looking to update and upgrade your Genesis luxury sport automobile? Look no further than right here in our own forum store - where orders are shipped immediately!

Statements like the below show that the "reviewer" doesn't seem to get the whole concept:

"...Android Auto is wholly dependent on your Google searches, while the Hyundai system is a lot more fleshed out, with maps that can be updated using SD cards, and location searches also powered by Google, without having to rely on your phone to do everything..."

Android Auto means you always have the most up to date maps for free with no need to wait for and pay big $ for annual SD updates from Hyundai. And the voice search on the Hyundai system is atrocious! I like the fact that the onboard system doesn't depend on cell coverage, but that's pretty much it's only real asset. Hopefully, the DIS controls can be used in the Ultimate model as having to always go to the touch screen would be distracting/potentially dangerous...

Does android auto navigation integrate with the HUD in the ultimate?

I can't image it does, worth a shot though.

That's what I wondered as well. Otherwise what do you do: set the address on the NAV and HOPE it picks the same route or do you have to pay attention to BOTH and ignore the HUD to follow Waze or Google Maps or whatever Android GPS you're using??

Just spoke with hyundai usa and they said it is not available yet for the genesis. Wonder if there is any truth to the original post?

I will wait for someone to confirm, before I call and make an appointment. Hope its true tho.

I hate that with my S6 Edge, the Google Maps/Waze voice can't go out through the speaker of the car. But music works fine.
Or that it doesnt have any type of text messaging integration!!

the lack of text msg bugs me. My 2013 ES350 had a feature where it would read the text msg's to me, and if i was stopped, i could actually see the text on the screen.

Exactly my moms 2014 Mazda 3 has this feature as well!!

My 2012 Genesis doesn't support streaming music thru Bluetooth, so I have a second BT receiver in the center console, plugged into the aux input. Both Slacker and Waze play just fine thru the Genesis Lexicon system that way.
