  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Great news: Android auto -- call your dealer!!!!

While I await the possible release of Android Auto on the 9 inch infotainment system, I would love to see some new apps like Spotify.

I just got off the phone with a guy named Steve who is the Team Lead for the Premium Group about another issue I was having with the stupid people who handle the phone calls. Anyway, we got on the subject of Android Auto and he told me that Android Auto for the Genesis (BOTH 8" and o9.2") was RELEASED TO THE DEALERS THIS WEEK. He suggested that we call the dealer who should have whatever he needs starting Monday to start installing the upgrade. When you get it, please post. HOORAY! HOORAY! FINALLY!

So has anyone been able to get the Android Auto update on their 2015 Hyundai Genesis?

My head unit needs to be replaced (Sirius issue - forgets subscription every time you shut the car off) and the dealer said it's back ordered and will take at least 4 weeks to get in. He said it's likely I'll be getting the unit they are putting in the 2016's (production of which is why he was told the head units are in short supply/back-ordered).

So, maybe I'll get a surprise and the new head unit will have Android Auto? I'll let you know in about a month.

My car is starting to drop the navi traffic when turned off, where you having that issue also?

Anything related to Sirius/XM (radio, traffic, weather, etc.,) does not work after the car is shut off. I can get it back by having Sirius/XM send the signal refresh, but it will be "no dice" again the next time I shut down.

Just purchased a 2015 v6 awd ultimate 4 weeks ago, and have recently been shadowing the forum.

When I went to the dealer to pick-up the car, I asked about Android Auto and they actually took my car and loaded it into the system. They told me that once Hyundai green lights it, it should get remotely activated. Based on this thread I am feeling like I may have been sold some hog wash, thoughts?

Well I can't say exactly what they did, but it wouldn't stretch my imagination if they were less-than-honest. I do however believe it's coming by year-end (note that's just personal belief, I don't have even a carrot of inside information).

My Nav Traffic seems to disappear also. Screen says "no results" but I can select and display accidents, road work etc in text form. Also no indication on Map route. Everything else seems to work, gas prices, weather etc.

I'd call hogwash!

Hey guys, new to the forum. This post drug me in, as I've been keeping an eye on it for a while.
Have the 2015 Genesis Ultimate package...

2 questions:

1) Anyone heard any updates recently from the contacts at Hyundai? I too have been having some of the random issues described in the posts around the head units and if they might be swapping them for the upgraded units, that would be great.

2) How exactly are you guys getting in contact (i.e., Finding) these folks from Hyundai you reference in earlier posts?
e.g.,
- Connected Care Publicity team
- Ricky Lao in product development at Hyundai Motors USA
- Steve with the Premium Group
- etc.

I've been trying to figure out how to get in contact with the right people at Hyundai for a long time and it seems like you guys are way ahead of me in terms of contacts. Care to share the secrets?

Thanks guys. Looking forward to contributing in the future.

You can contact Ricky Lao at rlao@hmausa.com He's the product guy who supposedly has all the answers. He is very nice and usually answers promptly. Good luck.

If you are having the same issue that I have, screen going black when you start the car and not coming back until you turn the car off and on again, so far they have done nothing. I went in for my 7500 mile service showed them the video of the issue I was having, and when I picked up the car they told me that they could not replicate the issue and just did a factory reset and they hope that fixes the issue. Well, it did not!

I am still having it go black on startup and everything works, I can even use the the touch screen and guess what I am doing, but all I have is a black screen. I take video of it so they can see the car is on, I am driving and no screen, so I have proof that there is something wrong. I do not recommend you do what I do, videoing while driving, but I do not know what else to do to prove to them something is wrong, because if no proof they will just say no issue because it didn't happen when they had the car.

Possible suggestions:

1. Make sure you get yourself starting the car in the video
2. If that doesn't, then contact Hyundai Corporate
3. Possibly take it to another dealer
4. Please publicize the dealer name that's giving you the Runaround Sue, and feel free to let that dealer's GM know about this thread.

I don't know if this is related to your issue or not, but check to see if you have any other device in the car that is connected to the car via Bluetooth. I used to get very frustrated with my inability to change radio stations or screens in the car. It was as if the screen was frozen. Then I realized that I had my tablet connected to the car via bluetooth and that was causing the problem. Once I disconnected the tablet or turned it off, the problem stopped. So perhaps it is possible that you have connected something either by accident or on purpose and the bluetooth connection is affecting your screen.

Contact Hyundai via twitter. They will get in contact with you usually within 24 hours. Did it for the issue Ive been having with my side mirrors losing position while driving. Was fixed after 1 week. They flew a tech out to resolve it.

i feel like the title of this thread should be changed.... lol!

i just got an update to Pandora on my phone saying that it is now compatible with Android Auto. that's great news for me, since i use pandora on every car ride. now the question is: when is android auto coming to the Genesis?! i've read articles recently that the redesigned Elantra is going to have it too. why make the Genesis owners continue to wait?

I suggest that you drive into the dealer next time the screen goes blank on startup to show them that it is happening. It worked for me as they can then diagnose the problem with a blank screen. They are replacing the complete Nav unit.

Note:

Just had my NAV/Head unit replaced as well. Had an intermittent issue where the rear backup camera wouldn't turn on (just black screen), as well as some of the issues above.

After replacing everything, swapping wires, etc., they've replaced the head unit and finally resolved a long standing issue. Just wish they'd done the right thing about 2 months ago.

As far as android auto, still waiting...
