  • Hint: Use a descriptive title for your new message
If you're looking for help and want to draw people in who can assist you, use a descriptive subject title when posting your message. In other words, "I need help with my car" could be about anything and can easily be overlooked by people who can help. However, "I need help with my transmission" will draw interest from people who can help with a transmission specific issue. Be as descriptive as you can. Please also post in the appropriate forum. The "Lounge" is for introducing yourself. If you need help with your G70, please post in the G70 section - and so on... This message can be closed by clicking the X in the top right corner.

Sorry Postalav8. You know that F/A-18 pilots are not allowed to help Sea Harrier pilots (which I assume you are/were based on your avatar).

All joking aside, the "seam" is manufactured into the inside of the lenses on both sides of the car (not sure why they did that). The top half of the "seam" aligns with the underlying reflector but the bottom half does not appear to correlate with any of the underlying structure. Must have been a bored design engineer at Hyundai.

Thanks for looking. The seam on the left does not seem to line up exactly with the reflector and it is white along the line. Stands out in my opinion. Sounds like it may be how they come.

I can admit that I have has my A$$ handed to me by a few F/A-18s. Those things will make your eyes water when they hit the merge. I will be adding retired in a few short years.

Mine don't line up that closely with the reflector either, but you can tell that the intent appeared to be to match the design line of the underlying reflector.

The lines on both lenses are equally visible on my Genny (just barely). Neither of mine look white. I'm wondering if yours ended up with some dust, or cleaning compound, or something else embedded in that seam on the inside of your left lens, since it appears more visible to you than the one on the right?

Other than the gas cap thing and a couple of flat tires that are both due to user error, I have had nothing at all to report. This is, without a doubt, the best car I have ever owned, leased, driven, got a ticket in...you get the idea. I love my black Genesis V8 Tau. It is very smooth and stylish. My other car is a Nissan Armada. I take chances as when I got that it was in its first year too. It had some brake defect that Nissan was aware of and stood by me on. They even bought the first Armada back after 52k miles. I bought another because i loved it too. I loved the power of that and the room it afforded me. Well, now I am hard pressed to want to drive my Armada now that I have the Genesis. It has become my wife's minivan and I ride the Genesis all the time! It's a Great Car!

Have had the car for 2 months and love it...and will love it more when I figure out how to operate it. The manuals are rather poor.
For example, the air conditioner runs full time in the Dual mode, even when the A/C and the Auto switches are not on. I have a feeling the answer is in the manual, but I can't find it.
The outside temp is only shown when a change is being made to the mode or passenger temps. I'm sure there is a way to show the O/S temp full time.
Yes, the sunroof whistles when open. If only I could teach it to whistle my favorite songs.
The gas mileage could be better, but I attribute that to the break in period.

Given the above, we do like the car. I've had issues with new BMW's, Infiniti's, and Mercedes and this car has been a pleasant improvement over those vehicles we've owned.

You should check that there's no shipping tape on the pop-up spoiler when the sunroof is open. From experience, it makes a really obnoxious whistling at even low speeds if it wasn't removed at delivery. Once it's gone, as long as the windows are cracked to equalize the airflow, the open roof isn't a problem other than the expected wind noise.

I have a 2009 Genesis with 16K miles. I love the car, but have been frustrated with a clunking noise coming from the left rear when I go over speed bumps in parking lots. The dealer replaced the shock absorber and mounting plate. The noise is now more of a "squishing" sound.

Anyone have this problem? If so, how did it get fixed?

You are correct. Removed the tape and no more whistle. Thanks.

d.

You too huh? Just found out about the 3 blink directionals a few days ago - OK - haven't read the manual thouroughly.

Only two issues; 1) the left rear seat belt would not latch, problem solved when dealer twisted the seat belt recepter 180 degrees(felt dumb on this one), and 2) the grommet in the carpet that holds the driver mat in place was not installed properly, 5 minute fix by dealer.

:)

Isn't it great when you find a solution to your problem in an informative forum? :D

Only had the car for a couple of days now, so I'll give a few more months before reporting back.
Hopefully mine is trouble-free. :knock on wood:

Isn't it amazing what you can find in the manual if you actually read it (mind you-cover to cover)?

I had mine for just over 15 months when, on a cold start up, I was greeted with volumes of white smoke, and an engine that sounded like it was coming apart!

Long story short, after a month at the dealer (Yup, a MONTH!) I finally got my car back. Most of the time was spent waiting on parts - there were a lot of them! New lifters all around, one valve replaced, honing the affected head, new timing belt tensioners, etc.

Good news is that even the occasional valve tap at start up I used to have is now gone. Runs great, probably better than when she was "new"! :D

I had a computer glitch on Saturday night. I got in the car, pressed the start button, and it took a little bit longer to turn over. After the car started, the ESC light was on, and the tachometer, MPG display, and other displays were not working. I drove to where I was going, ate dinner, got back in the car and everything was fine. Is this something I should be concerned about, or just look at it as an isolated incident and move on and see if it happens again?

I have a 2010 Genesis sedan that drifts to the left. I have had two different dealers try to align the car - and the result has been the same - the car still drifts to the left. Here are my car's current alignment specs in case anyone has any suggestions: Front Left: .2 Camber, 7.6 Caster, .07 Toe, 5.8 SAI, 6.1 Included Angle. Front Right: -1.6 Camber, 7.5 Caster, .07 Toe, 7.5 SAI, 5.9 Included Angle. Front Cross Camber: 1.9, Front Cross Caster: .1, Front Cross SAI: -1.7, Front Total Toe: .14 Rear Left: -1.6 Camber, .23 Toe Rear Right: -1.5 Camber, .25 Toe Rear Cross Camber: -.1 Rear Total Toe: .48 Rear Thrust Angle: -.01

Do I have a lemon, or can the drift be taken out?

Not sure if it's a typo, but 1.6 negative camber on the front right??

Front Left: .2 Camber, 7.6 Caster, .07 Toe, 5.8 SAI, 6.1 Included Angle.
Front Right: -1.6 Camber, 7.5 Caster, .07 Toe, 7.5 SAI, 5.9 Included Angle.
Front Cross Camber: 1.9, Front Cross Caster: .1, Front Cross SAI: -1.7, Front Total Toe: .14

Rear Left: -1.6 Camber, .23 Toe
Rear Right: -1.5 Camber, .25 Toe
Rear Cross Camber: -.1 Rear Total Toe: .48 Rear Thrust Angle: -.01

That doesn't seem right to me.

The dealer finally (after four visits) fixed the problem. It was tie rod bushings. He lubed them, torqued them, and generally treated them with love. No more noise.

It seems to me that he should have tried this solution a lot earlier.

My 2010 4.6 with tech is also doing the same thing. It constantly drifts to the left even after the dealer aligned it. There was another person on this board who claimed that he took the car reapetedly to get it fixed and it was never resolved. Another poster claimed there was a shim fix that was supposed to come out. I don't know what to make of this, but it seems like there might be some problem with the front suspension.
